    Ohh sorry!

Well the first thing I did see was a little bit of color missing in the corner, and the inside of the cd player they same thing.
Other it looks and seems like a good computer, ive hardly done anything, swapped drives and installed windows 7.
I got e hyrbrid disk, so its a little bit faster.

The screen is AMAZING, or atleast I just freaking love it, 1920x1080.. never lower than that again :)
I was afraid that 15,6" was to small, but not with that resolution.

The sound from the speakers are good, still a laptop speakers.
Havent listen that much, but I was impressed.

Ive but my hand on the side too feel the heat, but its never really warm, but I havent tried so much on the computer yet :)

But the best thing for now atleast is that when I open the computer the bottom part stays down in the table and dosent follow up so you have to use two hands! (like all other crappy laptops).

    Ill tell you more later..

Btw, did order a new hd hatch so it will come in a few days :D

Hi Guys, does this have a backlit Keyboard? If not does any of the N series laptops have a backlit keyboard with a 1080p screen and not bigger than 15.6"?

I was searching for this info but cannot find it, please let me know if there is such a machine.

Also Clintann whats is the battery life like? Does the laptop feel solid? Thanks for your review.

Yeah, and it's $200 less, which is what I don't understand. Guess I'll wait and see if it ever re-stocks.

Does anyone know if they're offering it with the i7-740 AND 1920x1080 panel in any markets?

I've only seen the i5 and 1920x1080 in some markets.

Since US resellers aren't allowed to change the screens, I assume one could purchase the i5 & 1920x1080 and have them change it to an i7-740?

Really disappointed with Asus if the i7-740 and 1920x1080 aren't available anywhere :-/

Why the hell are they still doing VGA? Can't they just put in a Display Port and allow for a converting dongle? Coming soon?

And is the GT425 any good for COD Black Ops or Crysis 1 or MW2 for the owners out there? or getting horrible framerates at reasonable settings?

    Thanks.

    Thanks! Was looking at a Sony also, 560m, 4gb, 500gb 7200rpm, 425. 16,4" .. for 60dollars more.
I did talk to some people on the net, friends and the store, and everbody told me to take Asus.
Sony´s problem is that service is slower, parts are more expansive if you can get a hold of them.. And the graphics drivers .. you can only use sonys own..
So I just got the Asus, lets hope it keeps rocking and replacing my desktop :)

Time to keep studying Physics for my exam tomorrow :)

    Just got mine from Amazon.

    ASUS N53JF-XE1

Just popped up as available yesterday, and now out of stock again. Had my eye on it over the weekend, and ordered it as soon as I saw it become available.

I've only had it half a day, but thought I would give my initial input:

The machine really does look good. Expected build quality, as this is not my first Asus, but a couple minor things that bothered me.

The keyboard flexes a little. Not so much that it hampers any use, but flexible keyboards in general irks me.

The dvd/blu ray player was a bit noisy. I have only tested in once while installing drivers, but it did seem like it was not installed securely, or not harmonically dampened? When I press on the door a little, the noise goes away. Will update again after watching a dvd or something.

It runs quiet and cool thus so far. No fan noise, no warm palms, etc.

The sound is better than most laptops, but it's not going to blow you away. I am content with it, but I'm not walking bragging about the sound.

Picture is good. Nice, bright and sharp. Haven't tested a Blu Ray disc yet, but will in the next few days.

So far so good. It runs fast, responsive, keyboard and pad all works well. Will test battery life tomorrow, however I already ordered the 9 cell. I do not expect the 6 cell battery to impress...

It's definitely a looker. Everyone at work noticed it sitting on my desk right away, and received many compliments.

Trying to figure out if I have 2x2 or 4x1 RAM configuration, as I want to go ahead and bump it up to the 8gb cap.

I guess that's all for now. Hope it helps anyone considering this model.

I'm awaiting my amazon order as well. Just to confirm, it is full hd, right? the updated specs on the amazon page (not the techinical specs as according to amazon, the stuff in the product description) list a lower res. and where did you find the 9 cell battery.

Any idea where I can get a N53JF-XE1 in Canada? Or should I just order it from Amazon.com seeing as we're pretty much at par and see what customs hits me with?

I don't know if it's a POS or not. If you want to wait until I get mine, I'll let you know. It was the only one I could find, so hopefully it actually fits.

Yeah I noticed it when I googled it but $1300 CAD is quite a bit higher than $1049 USD. I'm not a big fan of Tiger Direct either. If it was maybe 1100 or 1150 I'd buy it, but $300 more than the i5 model is not worth it unless the display was along the lines of a MBP/Dell RGB/B-RG display.

I'm considering buying the N53JF too.

So far, in Canada, NCIX.ca seems to be the only one stocking it.

The N53JF-A1 model sells for $1069.99 (in stock), but
the N53JF-XR1 model is $999.99 (not in stock).

It seems that the XR1 model has Bluray, and the A1 doesn't. Everything else is the same. Why is it cheaper? lol

    Links for both:

    The N53JF-A1: NCIX.com - Buy ASUS N53JF-A1 15.6IN HD Core i5 460M GeForce GT425M Optimus 4GB 500GB WIN7 Premium BT Notebook - N53JF-A1 In Canada.

    The N53JF-XR1: NCIX.com - Buy ASUS N53JF-XR1 15.6IN HD Core i5 460M 4GB 500GB GeForce 425M WIN7 Prem Blu Ray Notebook 1 Year Wrty - N53JF-XR1 In Canada.

It seems to be a 2 year warranty in the description. I think the 1 year in the title was just for the accidental warranty.

Essence: When did you order the laptop for NCIX? It seems that you've been waiting for a really long time. Are you contacting them and saying that it's outrageous that you haven't gotten it, even though it say ships within 2-5 days?

For the XR1 model, it is a custom order model so it only includes 1 year (global?) warranty compared to the A1 model which includes 2 year warranty for which 1 year is accidental warranty.

I did order the XR1 in the beginning but I didn't like the fact that I have to pay off my visa while waiting indefinitely for my laptop so I cancelled my order and re ordered it a few days ago when there was 1 in vancouver but someone was ahead of me. LOL Now I can either wait 2 weeks for the one from toronto or if i'm SUPER lucky i'll get the Amazon XE1 model =]

    Hi

    I'm new to this forum.
I just got my new Asus n53 JQ.
I love it, but the only problem i have is the battery life.
It only lasts for 1.30 or 2.20 h.
    Can you buy better battery's?

Btw: I'm from Belgium so don"t mind the spelling

I have been looking at this model for some time. Quite pleased to see they finally decided to go FHD and Blue Ray. I don't like the fact that Quad Core i7 CPU was not included. The specs on Amazon or New Egg say nothing about Blue tooth nor have I been able to confirm Express 34 / 54 card slot.
Can you please confirm that your system has blue tooth and Express card slot?

I also posted some thoughts on the owner's forum . I have the N53jf-xe1 (with BR and FHD)

my model does NOT appear to have bluetooth, and no model has an express card slot

Well I have done a little checking and the system can probably be upgraded with Quad core CPU. You got any ideas about how to get the Blue tooth module so I can install that as well??

I've no idea. you might want to check the n73jq user forum. I know there was someone on there that opened theirs up (I think they emailed Asus and got instructions of how to open it). I'm personally considering just opting for a small usb bluetooth adapter.
