You have 2GB soldered and 2GB on a stick, you can put an 8GB stick in there for 10GB total which is your best bet really. 1600mhz 1.35V CL11 to match it.

Definitely worth adding the 8gb ram and I also replaced the hdd with a Samsung 500gb 850 evo from scan.co.uk. This thing is seriously fast now. Highly recommended. Only managed to lose one case screw... Grrr
Thanks all for your input in this highly useful post.

There is always one screw ;)

I'm glad it has got the system where you want it performance wise.

Does anyone know where I can order replacement feet for this laptop? I can't find any in the USA for some reason.

It's part of the D panel so you have to order the whole plastic plastic to get the feet.
Check with US tech support team again to see if you can obtain the feet only or not, else that's the only way.

Thanks for your tips. Now, the build quality is not that bad. If you can find a UX32A or a UX32VD in shops, you'll see what I mean. The glass lid cover is not very sturdy and it flexes when pressed, with affects on the screen (you can see the images distorting when pressing the screen on the other part).

@NCA - G.Skill makes good RAM. I don't think you'd be disappointed. An SSD upgrade from a mechanical drive, though, would yield a bigger performance difference, but would be more work (you'd have to reinstall Windows or clone your existing installation over, whereas the RAM is simply plug and play).

Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation. I just upgraded my UX302la with a Samsung EVO 850. The laptop is blazing fast now, but the fan is constantly spinning at full speed (even when the CPU idle when the temperature is at 35 degrees C). I am under volting the CPU, Cache and GPU with the values you advised but it did not fix it.
Have you done any other changes ?
    Thank you !

Anyone still using this laptop with no issues? Ever since I did a clean install of Windows 10 months ago, mine has not been going to and waking up from sleep/hibernate properly. I assume it's the chipset driver that's the issue, but the problem remains after the latest one has been installed. Can anyone let me know what version drivers/BIOS they have, so that I can downgrade to a working version? I swapped out the HDD for an SSD a while back, if that may be a factor.

I've been having this problem with my UX302LG, and I THINK the most recent update in Home Insider Preview has fixed it!

Also sorry for the double post, but I'm looking to upgrade the RAM for my UX302LG to 16gb. If you were to upgrade the ram TODAY, what ram module would you choose? Model? Speed? Timings?

So today I was investigating some performance issues when I noticed my CPU was getting throttled HARD. CPU load would never go above 50% and temps were hitting 90c+. So I popped open my case to check for dust and found this:

How do I fix this? Can I just resolder them?

Has anyone successfully put a 16gb ram stick in one of these babies?

Hello, same here. See picture attached.
I'm so upset I picked Asus for quality and this is what happens. I sent the picture to them and they replied they did not receive the picture and that the PC was out of warranty ( yeah right thanks I kind of know that ...). It's a UX302LG.
Heads number 4 and 5 popped out of the motherboard, significantly reducing heat dissipation. Planned obsolescence ?

So after trying tons of different tricks I think I finally fixed it. I tried several different kinds of epoxies and after they came loose for like the 20th time I just decided to try soldering it and to my surprise it worked. I took off the whole heatsink assembly (the left side was kind of stuck to the fan, just pull it off slowly). I made sure to scuff up the motherboard pads and the nuts with a tiny screwdriver, applied some flux to both parts, and then took my soldering iron (made sure there was no solder on it) and (gently) jammed it into the nut, pushing it against the motherboard. After about 20 seconds the solder noticeably melted and reattached the nut to the motherboard. I made sure to add a tiny, tiny amount of extra solder so they wouldn't come off again (at this point like 5 of them had come off) and then let them cool. Be very careful if you do this, there are tons of tiny points on the motherboard you can accidentally make a connection to. I cleaned the thermal paste off the heatsink, cpu, and gpu, applied some of my own, pushed it down and screwed everything back in and it seems to be holding. Afterward I tried booting and PC wouldn't turn on. Uh oh. After checking the battery I looked online and tried discharging the mobo by unplugging the AC adapter and battery and holding power for like 30 seconds. Plugged it all back in and it worked fine. I haven't checked in about a month but I don't have any noticeable heat issues like before so I think it's holding pretty well.

Oh also mind telling me what ram stick you have in there? I've been thinking of upgrading but I'm not sure what I should go with.

Thanks for your help, I found someone who can do this professionally for me.

It's a 8 gb stick from crucial ( reference BLS8G3N169ES4), I would not recommend changing it because it's expensive and performance are not better simply because you can only change one module (the other one is soldered) therefore what probably happens is that you lose dual channel capabilities. I suppose it is useless to put something better than the soldered module cause it may act like a limiting factor? I'm not an expert somebody would have to confirm that.

I see some sellers are selling it for $14 on eBay, or $18 on Amazon.com.
