The new Asus UX21 ultra-thin laptop.
ASUS outs UX21 ultrathin laptop with up to Core i7 CPUs (video hands-on!) -- Engadget

nice! usb 3.0 ftw..i hope it does not cost an arm and leg :|
-
I think that it is about time that Asks release a world class portable laptop!
-
fyi - the screen quality looks horrible based of the pics i've seen imo. a lot of faded/washed out colors around the edges and really bad angles....anyone else notice that?
-
^the wallpaper they have on there is kind of darker on the sides..? or maybe it isn't and the screen is that bad..
Looks very good otherwise! Good bye cheap plasticMy cell phone is made from anodized aluminium, very happy with it
-
I wonder what the price of this is gonna be....but Asus sure does know how to make a good looking laptop.
-
Wow, that looks like one nice laptop.
I hope they are are least able to make it at least a couple hundred cheaper than the air.
well, according to this article: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2386149,00.asp
they said it would be cheaper than the 11" Air so it should at least be less than $999...looking forward to more information about this. -
this is one sexy lookin thing.

God, this is beautiful. I've been waiting for a UX refresh, and this is just too good to be true. I'm loving the design.
METAL KEYS!!!!
I just hope that the battery life is good. There's no mention of it, which has me a bit worried. -
No backlit keyboard? No thanks.

In all honesty there is so much they can fit into one small package while trying to keep up with the competition in so many fields (Size, hardware and price). -
I wouldn't be too optimistic about the battery life. The 11" air doesn't have very good battery life either.
AMAZING bit of engineering if the i7 goes in and still gets around 4-5 hours though -
I hope this materialize..remember the 1218 model? *sigh
but I do sure want this if the display is good enough.. -
If this thing sells well Intel might have a new niche of the market on its hands.
-
Pity about the screen. Typical Asus quality: low res, low brightness, limited viewing angles, backlight bleed.
Asus is my favorite manufacturer otherwise in laptops, but they just do not understand good screens at all. -
When is the Ux21 expected to be released? I want one.

According to the article, September.
-
This article states 7 hours worth of battery life.
Asus UX21 ultraportable hands on (video) | Netbooknews - Netbooks, Netbook Reviews, Smartbooks and more
I was looking at buying a netbook in the fall but this sexy beast is really what i'm looking for.
Anyone dare speculate about what GPU it will have? -
Should be just the IGPU on Sandy Bridge.
-
Since the USB ports are separated on each side...
How are we to plug in external optical drives/harddrives apart from lugging an extension usb? -
You guys think this will come in a 13” as well? I’m looking for at 13” notebook, and can wait until September if this is the case. Otherwise I’m thinking about the Samsung 9 Series.

ASUS UX21 to be priced at less than $1,000, says Commercial Times -- Engadget
Hopefully this is true. Planning on replacing my xps for this. $1000 could be for the i5. -
any news if Asus is gonna come up with that size? -

I haven't seen anything about a 15" version.
-
I tried the samsung series 9 weeks ago, well, it felt cheap like $800- laptop.
Sony SB felt pretty solid, the only problem is it's 1 grand, and u33jc is $475 right now with rebate. -
this computer looks really sweet. it's a great design!
i showed my wife and i think i shouldn't have...she wants one badly.
-
Someone please post resolution the 13" when that becomes available. Is it going to be the same sorry 1366x768 on everything else? Waiting on this info before I plunk down on the Sandy MB Air.
-
These things have a mini HDMI *AND* mini DisplayPort, right? If so, any idea if they're capable of driving both at once?
I'm trying to decide between grabbing a Samsung 9 series now or waiting until September (hopefully at the latest) for one of these. Right now I'm weighing the pros and cons of each notebook. Obviously there's a lot to be seen (like the UX21's battery life, screen quality, etc.) but if it can drive two displays at once while the Samsung 9 series can only drive one, that would help my decision. -
hopefully they come out soon!!!!or now!
-
-
Man, this thing needs to hurry the hell up and get here! September seems so far away.
I'm still itching to see what Apple pulls out of their sleeve with the Macbook Air refresh, but I'm just not keen on switching to a Mac. I was originally tempted to get a Samsung Series 9, but the WiFi issues and partially plastic construction just turn me off.
Here's to hoping the screen panel is at least decent! -
I want on of these in the Asus transformer form factor, with Windows 8 on it.. I guess not happening until 2012
I just can't bring my self to buy a laptop now, it just seems like there will be major changes in the next 6 months.., i will just wait it out -
does anyone know if ux21 and ux31 will have regular hdds? because as far i understand for various articles... only ssd?
-
SATA III SSDs is what the articles say.
-
This is looking pretty sweet as time draws near. Here is some more info:

^ cool post for new ultrabook cpu's.

I have no clue what formfactor SSD Asus will be using in UX21. It might even be impossible that the SSD is replaceable. -

Might be mini SATA.

Dedicated gpu or just another Intel HD 3000?

Intel HD 3000. There's no room for more than that.
