    $1,600?

Suddenly Macbook Air becomes more reasonable.

MBA pricing is very reasonable. I instantly noticed this especially the 256 Gb version. A 256 GB ssd alone easily costs 400$.
Plus the 16:10 1440x900 screen is a big plus too. If such a windows clone came i would instantly buy it.

Just look at the samsung 900xa3. 16:9 screen, 1366x768 resolution, half the ssd capacity and costs more than MBA.
I assume the ux31 will come with a crappy 1366x768 screen as all other Asus laptops do. Same goes for Acer. TimelineX series would be nice with a useful screen.
    I would pay 200$ premium for a 16:10, 1440x900 bright matte screen.

First release of the UX21 won't be IVY Bridge but Sandy Bridge ULV.

IVY bridge is going to be released in march/april 2012. The UX21 is going to be released this year. It's using the same cpu's as the new macbook airs.

I was viewing videos about the Asus UX21 and found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9MPWtHXFkM and noticed that the WEI score for the hard drive is consistent for traditional hard drives and not SSD. The 5.9 score could be due to not configuring the computer correctly but I could be wrong. It would be nice if the user can use standard 2.5" drive in the notebook.

New MacbookAir i5 + i7 have backlit keyboard. I have one right now and typing with it :- )

BY THE WAY, this laptop looks like kitchen appliances ! lets say very NICE stainless steel stove or microwave lol

also, you are gonna have a VERY hard time opening the lid ! They always forget something when they clone apple products. YOu will see what they forgot on this very NICE stainless steel stove lol

    Good luck .

    Yours,

@NuclearEcko - Budget mPCIE SSD's are not always as fast as conventional SSD's.

I'll wait to see the price once the UX31 shows up on NewEgg or Amazon. The same with the display. It is nice to see Asus trying to impliment better displays in its units.

I love the Updated ETA of November. That is soooooo Asus. Apple will sell a shedload of MBA's beetween now and November (or July, or April, after Ivybridge is introduced, or whenever it really ships).

If Lenovo and Acer can get their ultrathin units to market in the next couple of weeks, they will probably sell well. I think there is a demand for these from the professional/business user. To be honest, though, the Samsung 14" Model 7 looks very attractive with its matt, 1600 x 900 display and will probably sell in the same price range.

Edit: Wow! http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/01/toshibas-portege-z830-is-an-ultraslim-ultrasexy-ultrabook/ If it only had an option for a 1600 x 900 resolution display. Lenovo U300 is out as well. These releases will keep price pressure on Asus to price this within the market.
