I just got an Asus netbook and was wondering if there is any way to remap the volume controls. As it is, I have to press Fn+F11 or Fn+12 to make the volume higher or lower. But I don't want to have to use the Fn button. I just want to make it so I have to push just 1 button to adjust the volume. Can this be done?
-
I bought an N53J-SX210V and I can't use buttons on top left. (Volume,stop-play)
Which original program I need to use them? -
I'm having issues with this program. I've unbinded the media keys from Media Center by disabling ATK Media from Startup, so they should have an open function. Yet, when I follow the instructions, remap them to a media function, and use the key, I receive an error message that it cannot be synchronized to the previous ATK Event. I've received this error message before AND after disabling ATK Media from Startup (using msconfig).
Any ideas/solutions? -
BoomFlame: I had the same problem when I reinstalled Windows. Your version of HControl is probably too new, I replaced it with a backup I had of my old one and now everything is working great. Attached is my old HControl that works. Replace your current one with this one, it's probably in the path C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\ATK Hotkey

Great to hear, hope it helps any others with the same issue too
-
-
Not sure, I manually copied the file over.
-
Did you have to delete the file first before you copied the new one over? -
It's probably running already so you can't copy paste it. Step by steps for anyone with this problem:
1. Download the file in my post above
2. Open up the task manager. Show processes from all users.
3. Find HControl.exe and HControlUser.exe. Kill them both.
4. Open up your ATK Hotkey folder (Most likely here: C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\ATK Hotkey)
5. Open the file you downloaded and copy/paste it into the ATK Hotkey folder, overwriting the existing HControl.exe.
6. Run HControl.exe from the ATK Hotkey folder.
7. Everything should work now. If not, do a reboot so it reloads everything. If that doesn't help then this solution probably wasn't related to your problem. -
I also lost my hotkey functionality in the process, so I was forced to download the newest ATK Package again in the meantime. -
Did you delete the contents of that folder? It should already be in there.
Here's my entire ATK Hotkey folder at C:\Program Files(x86)\ASUS
ATK Hotkey.zip -
Mine is relatively the same. I'm missing CMSSC.exe and Atouch64.exe. I've only added the one I need into my ATK Package folder.
I'll see if it works right now.
Edit: So the hotkey now works when I edit it using your program (I don't get an error message). However, its function doesn't work (even with something universal like volume up/down). My main reason for doing this is so I can enable iTunes compatibility. As of now, it only work with WMP. -
I literally just installed the ATK hotkey thing and then overwrote the HControl.exe. Maybe try reinstalling the drivers to start with, I don't know what the problem would be on your machine.
-
-
Not sure, I don't use iTunes.
I personally am not a fan of Apple's products, WMP is good enough for me to search for and play music. It takes the hotkeys just fine, as does KM Player. -
This works so extremely good! Finally! I was tired of Windows Media Center. Tnx alot!
-
This is what i am trying to do, too, for my g73 with win7. did you have any luck? anyone else know? -

I write little script in bat file to check if process (aimp3) is running and if not, it will start and i need to assign it to PLAY button, but i need also media play key but i can only use "execute file" or "keystroke" in ANK 1.3... I need to use both

if "%ERRORLEVEL%"=="0" echo Programm is running
if "%ERRORLEVEL%"=="1" start "" /b "c:\Program Files (x86)\AIMP3\AIMP3.exe"
Can someone help me? -
I think something about add option for replacement keys from FN+F3 and FN+F4 to example CTRL+Z/X ? I want to use Keyboard Lights in Winamp (no keybvis! with only three lights but full keyboard in music rhythm)
But when i install keys v1.3- FN+F4/F3 didnt workand keyboard light dont work ...
Then - is it here program which can use keyboard light and flash in music rhythm ? or in which PC Language write that program ? i must study some
PS sorry for english -
-
I think development for this program has kind of halted unfortunately...
@Bladelm: Welcome to NBR! That's a bit beyond me, sorry
@DamianJo: I haven't seen any plugins/DLLs that take advantage of the keyboard backlights. AFAIK Only the touchpad LED (and bluetooth LED!) could be dealt with on the G50 series, we couldn't even turn off all the lid lights.
@Gloix: Glad it helped! Welcome to NBR -
Beat light beat off beat light beat off or Beat>light>off>beat>light>off if you know what im talking about...
I know it can work but in that "Asus keys v,1.3 my keyboard light hotkey not work! and i have problem.
And now is question - how light on (and off) keyboard but still have program to edit hotkeys ? any answers? maybe something do in hcontrol.exe ? -
Binding a LED to a key and then sending global hotkey messages...why didn't I think of it first
-
Say what? I dont know what you say ? :d
Then ... it can works? Flashing keyboard in to beat rhythm ?
Can you @Predator do program/script to winamp with that? please;*
-
There exists a winamp script for LCDHype somewhere on these forums... Up to Predator or someone else to get a dll to interact with the keyboard LEDs though.
-
I send an PM to Predator ... I pray it will works...
G73JH FULL KEYBOARD FLASHING IN TO MUSIC RHYTHM (BEAT) it is it! -
You can't take such DLLs for granted. I don't have the time to develop driver for that backlight currently
-
If you will have time - i please for it.
I will wait
Goodbye -
Hey guys, I've been watching this thread, until I had to finally register and reply.
I am having the same problem with "Can't Synchronise with...", and no matter what I do, doesn't matter what version of HControl.exe I use, old or new, with or without the hexediting, the error window STILL pops up...
All I want to do is have FN + Direction keys do their pause/play function.
Any help would be extremely appreciated... -
Kill the asus keys process first via task manager and then try again.
-
1. Downloaded Konrad's hex editor (cool program)
2. Downloaded the lastest NBKeys program
3. Force killed Hcontrol.exe with CMD prompt
4. Changed the hex string to 00 00 00
5. Saved, rebooted.
6. Started NBkeys.
7. CAN'T SYNC... and so on....
TAKE 2:
1. Update all my ATK Hotkeys drivers
2. Doesn't work because HControl.exe is too new
3. Downloaded your old version of HControl.exe (Huge thanks)
4. It's already edited so I don't have to bother
5. Start NBKeys again...
6. Same problem....
What am I doing wrong?
Am I supposed to have HControl.exe's process shut down WHILE I do the NBKeys edit? Because that didn't work either...
Does it matter what version of NBKeys I use?
Any answers would be much appreciated, my laptop is 2 days old, and I'm really disappointed I have to do all this so it works properly... -
Well it's not exactly an Asus-supported thing. This is a user-created mod so you have to expect some sort of craziness... but we'll get this working.
I don't think I ever hex edited anything for this. I'm at work right now but I think there's an actual AsusNBKeys.exe process that you have to kill, that's what's stopping the sync. Kill that and then save the changes in the nbkeysctrl program, then launch the AsusNBKeys process again.
See if that works. The idea is to stop the process, update its parameters when not inuse, and restart it. Follow? -
Will try that, and I'll let you know if it works! Thanks!
It's going to be a long night. -
I don't follow, why would you kill a program you are trying to edit the keys with?
Are you referring to 2 different programs? I'm hoping there is a piece of info I've overlooked... -
I got it to work! Unbelievable! dtd00d you are a genius as with the rest of you awesome people.
-
I despair... -
Haha thanks! Glad you got it working!
For anyone else with this problem: There are two different programs you need to worry about:
AsusNBkeys.exe (captures key events, runs in background on Windows)
AsusNBKeysCtrl.exe (Editor for what key events AsusNBkeys captures).
You must kill the first process to edit it, use task manager.
Minekey: Open up task manager and kill asusnbkeys.exe before trying to use AsusNBKeysCtrl.exe to make changes. Then start asusNBkeys.exe again after saving your changes, and see if that works. -
-
When i click End Process it says: The operation copuld not be completed. Access is denied.
How did you delete yours? Thanks -
I was unable to end the HControl.exe process so I restarted in Safe Mode and the process didn't start. I was then able to replace the original HControl.exe with the edited version.
-
Hey,i again try use HControl and Asus notebook keys...
I cant do something like:
FN+F4 keystroke to CTRL or whatever + F12 (whatever too)...
I will use that shortcut to winamp and from winamp to dll to make keyboard flashing in music beat ... you know - like ispazz from MBP.
Can i do it ? or is there script like ispazz to windows and g73jh?
Sory if you dont understand me... my english is terrible -
The short answer is no.
The long answer is you'll need to follow Predator_MF's instructions if you want to do something like that:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...display-i-have-found-way-set.html#post3101144
This lets you customize the OLED screen on the G50v/vt series. There is a GLED.dll and a Winamp plugin that lets you change the state of the touchpad LED. This does not work for the G51 series though, as far as I know. -
Grrr... of course thanks for answer
I was 100% sure that LCD Hype works only with G50 series (+ more)
But with G73JH its not work
I try it but... i m bad and sad -
Sorry to hear
I haven't heard of anyone able to get manual control over the keyboard lighting on Asus laptops. I'm sure if anyone does find a way, it will be all over these forums though. -

@Damian_jo
Here's a thread with the same basic question:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/582443-g73jh-backlight-music.html
You could write a script in Linux that will do it, since the keyboard backlight interface is exposed and easy to use.
As far as I know nobody has ever written a program to control the keyboard backlight in windows. -
Yep ... @ALLurGroceries
I now downloaded Ubuntu and Debian systems - i got from different forum (or nb too) linux script.
I downloaded Cygwin and installed it but script still didn't worked.
Now i try Ubuntu in VMWare / VirtualBox - if don't work now-i will stop try.
PS Does somebody know on how rules work KeybVis ?
I think maybe i can do KeybVis but not "click" capslock/numlock in each frequency but only F3 and F4 - i can click FN and don't release it but how write that script?
Maybe something like that:
do
wscript.sleep 100
wshshell.sendkeys "{CAPSLOCK}"
wshshell.sendkeys "{NUMLOCK}"
wshshell.sendkeys "{SCROLLLOCK}"
loop
But no CAPSLOCK etc - only F3 and F4 (in music beat)
Thanks for answers
Peace!
