i wonder if the new 45nm E6xxx series (Wolfdale-3M) is also supportable
cuz i just bought a E6500 (which was cheaper then the E6300) from a dutch website and its a new cpu
so did anyone test these 2nd generation E6xxx series on a Asus C90S yet?

dont want to say it :p that high, also need to upgrade it (any suggestion? 9600 GT?)
i need to use Zigg0's mod for 12volt fan but instead of that i want to change the speeds like a fan controller
i hope he can update his guide with a new one
cuz 100% all the time is a bit to much, i want to control it

EDIT: how did you mod your gpu? the pain-in-the-butt mod or the easy one?
EDIT: nVidia GeForce 9600M GT 512MB DDR3 MXM II for 150 USD (around 115 Euro), trustable? its on ebay

    Hi,

Yes, it may be difficult to have a decent temperature for GPU :( .
I'm using a notebook cooler, and have drilled holes in the back plate.
Soon, I make phoenon's mod _ with C90P copper heatsink, and other mods from my mind.

I made the full mod from NW, with copper heat spreader.
In fact it is not so difficult to make it.
Cut a piece of copper either with a hand saw or power saw.
Adjust shape with a metal file, mark the holes with a pencil, then drill.
If necessary, adjust again with the file.
    And so on
    ;)

For a better or good cooling, you'll have to see to Angel's mod.

Remember : Heat goes where it is less warm, and with copper bridges you give other ways to the heat to escape :)

If you don't want to make exactly as Angel did, you have at least to make copper bridges.
I think it is important to share the heat between the 2 (or 3 ?) heatsinks.

If you want to control fans's speed, you may use Zigg0's mod, or, better, ask King of Interns about his own mod.

    Enjoy your C90S :)

going to buy the things i need to mod it
hopefully its done today or tomorrow, i will make a few pics ofcourse :p

just wondered why Asus made the gpu-fan interact with the cpu-temp, really weird
now doing stress testing in order to cool my gpu :p

btw about that piece of copper, how thick must it be?

EDIT: can you make 2 copper plates? 1 for me and 1 for you? :p i will pay ofcourse

Hi if you have them I would also be interested in buying The Mod for the C90S as I Will Be Upgrading to ether the NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M or the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M some time Before October 1 2010

GTX 260M? Gd luck there! That card won't fit the C90 as there isn't space for anything larger than mxm II 2.1 cards. MXM III 2,1 cards can't fit as the CPU socket is in the way. Also even if it did fit by some miracle and I really wish it does :D the heat it would produce would be too much for the cooling system to handle unless you carry out the CPU+GPU combined heatsink mod which would be doubly tricky using the much larger video card.

As for my fan mod I am afraid I cannot be of much help as I am not technically skilled or knowledgeable where soldering and wiring is concerned. I gave my machine to a computer engineer for a couple of hours and so didn't carry it out myself. I did PM someone I think 9800 some pics of the notebook guts post mod to give some idea but I haven't got those piccies anymore and don't want to open up the machine if I can help it as I risk loosening an important wire in the cooling setup doing that. Sorry I can't help

Ops Wrong Card Its This One Here http://forum.notebookreview.com/gaming-software-graphics-cards/430708-going-try-nvidia-gt-240m-gddr3-asus-m60j-acer-aspire-6930g-3.html#post5516992 The NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M Thats The Card I want. The One that Ken from Gentech PC could Not test Because he had no C90S Left after Asus Discontinued it

Heat Will Not be an issue as when I had read all the Great Results that Can be Achieved With The C90P Thermals Mods I got right over to the Asus.eu Store and got my self a C90P Case Mod with All the Heat Sinks as I think it you were Correct that the if you can put a C90P in the C90S than Why not the other way around.

So I got not only the GPU Heat Sink but the CPU Heat Sink and the South Bridge Heat Sink that in the C90P goes under the GPU.

So now that I have done all this do you can I put in a NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M or are their any MXM 2.1 cards with DDR 3 and 1GB of Dedicated ram That are better as I didn't want to go and buy it only to find out that the C90S can take a better and Faster one Right Now.

If the GT240M works it would be a great card on par with the 4670. There won't be any other cards on the mxm II 2.1 form unfortunately so these two cards (if the 240M works) will be the very best we can get.

It is worth a try however.

I'm not sure to understand (my english is far to be perfect), or perhaps I've made a mistake above ? (same reason).
I'm not on the way to make NW mod, mine is done since almost one year, and don't want to make another one.
I'm making phoenon mod, based on C90P heatsink.

For those who doesn't dare to start:
The only important condition is that the holes are drilled in the right place.
And it is not difficult to drill through the place that you mark with a pencil.
Please, read and read post#1 from NW.
Read also Angel, his ASME heatsink is nearly the same as NW's copper heatsink. You don't need to drill all the holes, see carefully those you need. And it's no matter if you drill a hole you'll don't use.

nice, now i need to wait for my new potmeter that i ordered
it works the same as the switch you (i think) use

if that custom fan controller works i will post a few pics and maybe a video plus the actual potmeter i use (you need like a 9Watt, 200Ohm potmeter for the cpu fans alone)

I use a modded desktop case fan controller. That has dual fan control, usually fits in a regular desktop pci slot. Perfect as it is designed to handle up to 12V which is max power for the C90 fans while desktop fans are larger than the C90 ones. I haven't had it blow up yet (although I have 2 spare just in case haha)

    Hi,

I see there is 2 different E6700 from INTEL.

One is the old fellow E6700 C2D, and the other is a E6700 2 cores Pentium.

E6700 Pentium has 2M Cache instead of 4M, but it runs at Clock Speed 3.2 GHz, with Bus/Core Ratio 12.

Did someone ever try it on a C90S with this bios mod ?

    Thanks in advance.

It should work although it has an even more crippling lvl 2 cache size of just 2mb! That is 1/3 of what the E8xxx have and half of what conroe's came with.

On another note there is also the E6800 pentium duo. At 3.33ghz and I guess 12.5 multi. Pretty fast! Still I can imagine it giving the E7500/E7600 a run for their money when OCed to the max.

Sorry guys, I asked the same question in the official C90 owners lounge, but maybe this is the most appropriate ... i have a big problem with my C90S. I replaced the original E6600 with a E7400 (after updating the bios with the 1003 version that came on the first pages of this discussion),but now when I unplug the power and reconnect the pc freezes and I have to shut it down brutally! Do you know how to fix this?

There is just the one mod. Have to say though most people here upgraded to the E7500 which doesn't have a half multi at 10.5x that the E7400 does. This could be what is messing your system up. Perhaps using crystal CPUid to force multis to 10.5x while switching power

    Hi,

I don't think the half multi could bring such this issue.
Today I was in a French Asus laptop forum, and a guy has got his E7600 to work at full speed by using Crystal. Before, his E7600 was working like a E7500.

Sorry I didn't manage to finish my post was writing at work and something cropped up so I had to stop. Basically I meant to say using crystal to force the half multi on might solve the problem while switching power

    Hello,

    @marco.f12

I just remember this post from NightWalker.

Could it be the answer ?

So if you already have a powerfull video card _ like 9600M GT_ you should get a 120W AC adapter.

Got a e7500 today based on advice in this forum.. sounded easy BUT!
I have exactly same problem as two other posters in this thread... Burn or mount the ISO gives no files... is the iso supposed to look blank? Wont boot. Downloaded mine from Angel site.

Ok got it working... heres my tip.

Forget the ISO cd burn (waste of a cd). Get a usb flash drive, make it dos bootable (easy, google it). Put on the ROM and flash utility from ?C90S Unleashed? by Angel Marinov

boot on the drive and from dos prompt run

    AFUDOS /i1002A.ROM

    job done.

    Hi,

Just found this thread and since I have my Asus C90S for several years now, I found it very interesting. I was thinking of buying a new PC, but looks like I still can make some upgrades to the S90C and keep it for another year or two...

What currently the best CPU, RAM and GPU the S90C can take using various mods? Looks like most people go with the E7500 and GeForce 9600M; are these two the best C90S can take? And what about RAM, is there some mod it can go beyond 3gb@667mhz?

P.S. What is the latest and most current BIOS mod now? I visited Index of /downloads/Asus_C90S/software/BIOS but it does not have the 1003 version, which, as I understand, is the one that required for the CPU upgrade...

I built few stock computers in the past, but custom modification is new to me, so any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance, and sorry for my English

    Hi MartJet

Thanks to your post I saw the 9800xpv post too. I am so happy because the provided link works. It seems that Sineva.net is back and I hope to find out the ASME 4.0 plus some help and answers. My C90S is in good condition and I intend to make some additional upgrades and mods.

As far as I know and remember from Angel’s thread the best C90S setup is NVidia 9600 DDR3 and 7500 - it was a couple of years ago. At the moment I have 7500 and an old 8600. I have updated the BIOS to that one from 9800xpv link before to run 7500. Also I would like the answers on your questions too.

Edit: my BIOS version is 1002A

    @9800xpv
Thank you so much for the link :notworthy:! Do you have the ASME 4.0 pdf or a link?

Edit: I found it :D and will go with ATI 4650 1GB DDR3 and may be with C90P motherboard if I have a chance. :hi2:
