well, my problem is that after leaving the notebook (z33a) plugged in all night, the notebook still indicates it is charging the battery. booting into windows indicate the same thing. and when i try to run on battery, it would last for like 5-10 min and shutdown. would this be a problem with the battery or the charger?

i had the battery replaced about a month ago as the notebook only lasted roughly 30 minutes while running on batteries.

i dont mind sending the battery back to asus, but im a bit hesitant about sending the notebook back as it is the primary computer that my sister uses in university.

    any comment is much appreciated

It is possible the battery is a dud yet again. I dont know what battery they replaced it with. They may have sent you an m5n battery. Your options are
    1. get a 9 cell battery
    2. get a 6 cell for the w5 which will work just fine xept the color
    3. try the battery calibration from bios
    4. go for another battery replacement.
z33 and m5n batteries were reliable. I think it is just a freak incident that you ran into 2 dead batteries within one year. My m5n which is 2 years old now is still on the same battery and i do use it. i also have a 9 cell for it

    Check your ACPI driver.

Instead of using the ACPI driver from the CD, I had installed the one from Asus' website. This driver would charge the battery even if the battery was at 100%, causing my battery to wear to 85% in a matter of weeks.

Use NPC or MobileMeter to see if current is still moving into the battery at 100%.

Reinstalling the driver and one replacement battery later, everything is working fine, and with NPC, I get 4 hours battery life
