Great news! Is ASUS going to update the BIOS for the M50 as well?

Just to clarify, is this BIOS fix for the missed 4-key combinations; for the missed/lagging keys; or both?

The BIOS fix is just for the key combinations, for the missing keystroke issue they are still working on it, but I think if people having problems with missing keystroke they can first ask Asus to send them a new keyboard to try, at least I tried a new keyboard on one U6V, works much better now.

I consider myself pretty fast typer and I haven't experienced any kind of lagging keys, maybe this a hardware problem like Ken suggested?

It's certainly possible. If some of the people with lagging keyboards call ASUS and have exchange keyboards sent to them, then they can verify whether this is the case.

I've had my keyboard replaced and still have missing keystrokes here and there.

and before anyone asks, its definitely the keyboard and not my typing thats the problem. I'm assuming there's a possibility that this could be related to the key combo issue, but we'll see. I've never had this issue with my G1s or any other laptop i've owned.

Just got my A1 yesterday evening. I'm almost done with installing and updating all of my games. Still getting used to vissta.

Anyways, this keyboard seems pretty **** solid to me. No keyboard lag and I'm not having the repeating key issue that others were reporting.

qqqqqqqqqqqqqwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrr it just stops when your press the t button down.

aaaaaasssssssssddddddddddffffffffff again, it just stops when the g key is pressed. I don't see this particular area an issues at all.

The keys are a bit stiff but I love the way they feel.

You're not testing the same issues we've had, hold down s+d and hit spacebar, tell me if it makes spaces. and it is an issue, this is a very common key combo for playing games, and this is a gaming laptop.

Uhm, does anyone of you guys plan to make a guide on flashing bios, since it will be needed to fix the keyboard issue? :D I have been working with computers for quite some time, but never had balls to flash bios, and I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it without a good guide. Especially when I would have to send it back to US, in case I screwed up. :p

So I ordered my G50V-A1 like 9 days ago and it's already at customs office in my country.

    Thanks for info

This machine has the ez flash utillity built into the bios, no need for a application to be loaded onto a disk or usb drive. No need to even put the new bios on any media, just download it to an easy to get to location like the C:

    > Reboot and hit F2 to enter the bios
    > Arrow over to the EZ Flash utility
    > Find the new bios where you saved it on your hard drive
    > Highlight it and hit enter
    > Wait for awhile and its done

!! - Make sure you are plugged in on electric power when doing this
!! - Do no turn off the machine during a flash

They are working on the bios now at least, but it still has some problem, so I'm waiting to get the correctly working version."

I think I will wait until the final version comes out or until at least enough people have tested it and approved. Beta Bios is a little scary.

Thanks again for the update tho Ken.

Yes they are working on it still, probably pulling their hair out trying to get it fixed. :)

They said it suppose to fix:
    -Keyboard lagging issue
    -Key combination but still buggy

They didn't send me version 205 so I think it's even worst, hope version 207 is the final version.

It's buggy but will not cause any damage to the system, all they tried to fix is the keyboard lagging and key combination issues.

It's still buggy only when trying to press S+D and Space, the Z key will be pressed when trying the key combination.

Try it Vicious and let us know how they can improve. :D

s+d+space not working. In notepad I still get no space when I press space. No Z button press ether.

However I think it did indeed fix the key presses/lag issue. I am typing so fast now in firefox and normally it seemed to "lag" some and I would once in a blue moon get it worse and miss key presses totally.

Give me a few days with the new bios and I can say for sure, maybe its just a sugar pill effect right now.

Maybe, but something like this leaves you in a fix. You know it will be more than 15 days probably before its fixed, but if you send it back and it gets fixed you sent it back for no reason.

Me personally I have not had an issue yet where the key combination has been needed.

Now if only they took what they learned while fixing it on the G50, and fixed the problem on the M50, as well. Once everything is bug-cleaned and out of beta, of course. :)

If it's fixable by BIOS, then it seems the keyboard lag is a firmware, and not a keyboard hardware problem, after all. (Although it may be firmware for the G50 and hardware for the M50, it's highly unlikely, I think).
