I still get keyboard lag sometimes with the new BIOS. And the keys stll don't work ... just lost a keystroke there!
-
I am looking forward to this Bios Fix so that I can happily play ETQW on my laptop. I use that combo for gaining speed while jumping. It is pretty crucial to the game play as every second counts.
-
I'll give this a shot when it's not in beta lol
-
I have played Devil May Cry 4 and I found some bugs too...
D+SPACE+"l,k,j,n,b....." doesn't work :// -
This is not cool.
whats taking them so long to fix it. Seems they have laid back after that beta release? -
Hmm, no true fix yet eh? As I suspected, it is likely that the keyboard, specifically the way that the circuits are hard wired, that is the problem. It's not something that a simple BIOS update can fix. But if Asus can actually do it, then that's great.

I hink I might be getting MORE keyboard lag with the beta BIOS. I'm noticing that I'm also getting more random 3+ second lockups. I'm on the G50V-A2. LOL still losing keystrokes I see too.
-
I have BIOS 207 and it's still beta, send me PM if you are willing to try.
For the keyboard lagging issue they'll release new ATK driver to fix it. -
-
Update on 207:
S+D and space worked but after release space key the Z key will be pressed. -
ALLurGroceries Vegan Vermin Super Moderator
The key combos work now with 207 (with the caveats of no repeating space sometimes and the z character appearing with s + d + space), the lag issue hasn't come back yet, but I also haven't tried running any heavy apps in a few hou\rs. Also as you can see with the game mode enabled I get random \ characters every once in a while.
EDIT: Also, it is not AFTER the space bar is released that i see Z appear, it is right after pressing it DOWN. For example:
"ssssssssddddddddz " -
what is game mode enabled? -
ALLurGroceries Vegan Vermin Super Moderator
Just a new keyboard combo that you have to press with the new beta bios, it is FN + G to enable, FN + G again to disable.
WOW HERE'S A NEW UPDATE!
I just tried disabling game mode for the first time and I CANNOT PRESS SPACE!
EDIT: Disbled and re-enabled and disabled and space bar worked again. Maybe it was a fluke? Keep an eye out anybody who tries this beta, plz -

No, and I don't know because I don't have OSD installed, I'm on XP too, so that makes it even more different. Hopefully this is just a feature for the BETA, so that you can test it and go back to normal, u know.... I wouldn't want to have to hit Fn+G whenever I want to play a game, that's weaksauce.
EDIT: You can tell which mode you're in by winkey + r and s + d + spacebarLOL not very pretty I realize

i agree, its like duct taping the windows on your brand new Ferrari to stop the rattle from ruining a fantastic ride.
hope they fix this to at least a sufficient level. -

I'm still getting 3 second lockups, seems to be trackpad related because everything locks up, sound loops, hard drives hang etc, but I can move my mouse with the trackpad but not my USB mouse. I also lose my keystrokes when this happens. It's not the regular lost keystroke issue though because everything except the mouse cursor hangs.
-
Run this and watch whats taking up all the processing power...its a souped up version of taskmanager.

Unfortunately this is an interrupt problem, not a CPU consumption problem. Sometimes my PC speaker beeps, like when you overload the keyboard buffer. Except usually I'm just switching windows or something. It happened again while I was scrolling down this page to find your post.
-
This used to happen to my old laptop. Well, it seemed it happened always when it was overheated...usually when something was blocking the cooler...

It's running cool though, HW monitor shows 109F / 43C as my max temps for this session. I tried disabling the internal pointing device in the BIOS, so I will report back if the issue doesn't come back in a few hours of use.
-
does that mean u just run off of a USB mouse?
-
ALLurGroceries Vegan Vermin Super Moderator
Yea I'm using a usb connected mouse for now, since I think the trackpad is the problem. Just to diagnose... I'll go back after I get another hangup and my game of whack a mole will continue! (as you can tell my optimism is gone now)
-
Anybody tried the 2.07 BIOS yet?
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
The Beta Bios? Yeah its on my system. Does not fix the missing keystroke issue but I think it fixed the occasional key lag for me.
-
ALLurGroceries Vegan Vermin Super Moderator
Vicious are you referring to 2.07 (second beta, first one was 2.06) cause you have to hit Fn+G for the keystrokes to work, but they do work. There are some bugs, like when you hit s + d + space a Z gets inserted before the space, and some other quirks like a random / character appearing. It didn't fix my keyboard lag, but I've disabled my trackpad in the bios and it hasn't lagged for 4 hours or so, and I've been using it under heavy load tonight.
EDIT: Hmm, maybe a bit more than 4 hours. I should get some sleep! That's a good sign though, I don't think it's been this long without a hangup before -

ahh I think Ken told me something like that, I have not tried to toggle it but sure enough it works
(just tried it)
I would assume that is a decent fix tho as long as you do not have "Z" bound to so anything in the game your playing then you effectively will not have an issue anymore. -

Disabling the trackpad in the BIOS has gotten rid of my keyboard lag, and the 3 second looping sound/windows hanging problem. If you have this problem and you've got a USB mouse, give it a shot. It worked for me.

*Bump*
I has been a while now since ASUS started working on this problem. Any updates? I am getting a little worried now if the multiple keys problem is going to be fixed. -
ALLurGroceries Vegan Vermin Super Moderator
Yea, the multiple keys problem got fixed in the beta bios 207. Hopefully a new official BIOS will come out soon.
-
Oh yea, great.
Looking forward the official BIOS. -
ALLurGroceries Vegan Vermin Super Moderator
I haven't heard anything from GenTech, but I asked to be notified of any beta bios updates. I think there is yet one more revision to come before an official BIOS gets pushed out.
edit: hundredth p0st w00t!! xD -
I hope it goes well, I havent really ordered my G50 yet because of this xD
Hows the 2.07 beta BIOS doing so far? -
ALLurGroceries Vegan Vermin Super Moderator
BIOS 207 is still doing fine, awaiting 208 hopefully soon.
Everything I said on page 17 still holds true except for the hanging issue which has been fixed by my startup script which I posted in another thread (I'm in XP and it's flawless, apparently there is a small complication with Vista that we've yet to work out 100% in the startup script). -
Oh wow. Maybe it'll arrive just in time when I order and receive my laptop. =)

With 207 bios I still do not think I have had any keyboard lag or missing key strokes.
The combo key issue is there but I never notice it since I have not used those keys together but the toggle for them works (fn+g I think it is) the most common one to be used would be s+d+space and with the toggle on it works but it presses "z" at the same time. In a game if Z was not bound to any action you would be able to s+d+space to your hearts desire with no ill effects.
So yeah the keyboard thing kind of sucks but I do not think its a big problem. Looks like those that did have problems found fixes.
Now you guys need to put some of that brain power into finding a way for us to overclock the 9700gt. -
If anyone wants to see how their keyboard behaves, I attached a program that you can use to see how many/what keys are pressed at the same time. A very nifty program!

that is pretty cool, if its what I think it is.
edit: yep sure is. Interface could use a facelift to make it bigger and easier to see (like the keys light up or something when pressed) but hey it works! -
my current laptop (Compal CL56) registers 5-6keys simultaneously using that program.
-
Can we get a status check on this?
-
*bump*
I'm noticing more and more keyboard delay issues while typing longer than usual emails. Worth installing the beta bios? or any word on an official bios update? -
ALLurGroceries Vegan Vermin Super Moderator
No lag issues with the beta bios here. Got some 3 second hangs but they're gone after I came up with a script to lower the synaptics application priority. Some other ppl have had success after tweaking the delay timings (since everyone's boot times are different):

Another option is just to disable the touchpad in the bios.
Still waiting to hear about a new beta bios to hopefully resolve the multiple keypresses issue (without a special mode requiring Fn+G to toggle, and it half works, see earlier pages)... should be soon I hope. -

I just noticed that Asus has just posted a 205 bios update. I am at work so I cant try it out till later. It is only listed under the 32 bit driver section on the website. Someone, try it out and let us know if it fixis anything.

ALLurGroceries Vegan Vermin Super Moderator
205 shipped on mine... nothing new.. latest beta is 207
-
Anyone know what is taking Asus so long to get the non-beta BIOS out? It was originally supposed to be "just a few days"....
-
Hey guys... I'm new at this forum!
I bought Asus g50v Portuguese version and I just gotta say... wow, this do his job!
Well, I'm posting to ask where can I get the newest beta bios for it (207, i think!) -
