Same here. I'll probably PM GenTech for the 207 beta as well. I've read around and updated the video drivers and ATK but the problem still exists.
Glad I wasn't the only one with this problem though, and this topic has been a huge help.

Have found a solution on the keyboard lag using the Asus M50Sv. In a nutshell, you have to uninstall the synaptics driver completely, then settle for the standard windows ps2 mouse driver. For a lengthy description, check the M50 keyboard lag thread.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=252283&page=10
I have no G50 to test this solution. But this may also solve the weird keys problem. From my research, synaptics uses the same ps2 line as the keyboard, and at times this causes problems. -
can someone intelligent test clodus' suggestion on their G50V?

Someone "intelligent"?

Disabling the touchpad in the BIOS will get rid of the lag.
But that leaves you without a trackpad. The lag has disappeared for me as of BIOS 207.
Anyone not yet on 207 with lag -- have you tried my startup script? It worked for me, and seemed to help a few other people out.

Hello Guys,
I have been making communications with asus support in the asus VIP technical forums. Although my problem is with the M50 notebook, asus has mentioned that G50 keyboard lag problem has been fixed. This was their reply on the G50:
But G50V issue has been solved by new BIOS and driver. If you also have G50V unit, please update the newest BIOS V207, ATK Hotkey V1.0.0042 and ATKOSD2 V7.0.0002 which are already on our download site, thank you!
I have no way to test this. But I hope this helps the G50 users. -
-
I guess 207 is in beta, maybe PM Ken from GenTech to get it.
-
-
ASUS is slow with fixing their bugs, that's true. There is also the possibility that the key combination issue cannot be fixed because it's due to a hardware limitation.
But well, even if the BIOS is beta, if it works, who cares? -
Hello guys, I have both good news and bad news.
Good news: bios 207 is already released
Bad news: it is not yet available in the server
Check asus' explanation below

As I mentioned in another thread: the 207 BIOS + "new driver" combination is not a cure-all for the keyboard lag issue as I am still experiencing missed keys when typing at my normal speed (I even make an extra effort to fully press the keys to be certain that I am just not using enough pressure on the keys..).
-
Sorry for bumping an old topic, but has anybody found a real fix for this? Has anybody tried contacting ASUS or anything? It's still lingering for me, which is really annoying bceause it's highly noticeable in the games I play.
-
You could try the even newer 209 BIOS and the latest ATK drivers and utils. Or you can just uninstall the touchpad driver. Make sure to also turn off the blinking lights.
One of these things typically solves the lag problem. -
no lights, newest ATK, bios 209. sd+space still doesn't work (haven't noticed any keyboard lag though)
-
Same here. For me the problem isn't so much the s+d+space combo; it's the w+e+space combo, which I use frequently while gaming (forward moving strafe +jump).
I am strongly considering sending my G50 back if this issue cannot be resolved. This situation is completely unacceptable and I am thus far very disappointed. I will post the results of my retailer and manufacturer conversations here.
By the way: e (right strafe) + forward arrow key + space = fail too; however, e+8/forward arrow (on the num pad) + space does work. -

This is a mode that will let you use the key combos but it adds some extra characters for some reason. It's still enabled in 209, I *just* tried it.
For all the details see my post on page 17 of this thread:

Tyvm AllurGroceries! +Rep to you. I thought I had done all my research; but I was wrong. Must have missed your post on my spins though this thread. The 'z' issue is pretty annoying but easily worked around so whatever. I'd trade that 'z' button for a spacebar any day.

fn+g doesn't work for me. xp pro 64, using the 209 720/1800/1050 modded bios. ill do some digging as well.

So I uninstalled the touchpad drivers because the keyboard lag is driving me nuts and to be honest the only thing extra it did I liked was the drag scrolling this but I didnt use it that much...
Anyway I have noticed something else however, of course without the correct drivers the touchpad is VERY sensitive and also no longer has palm detection. As a result while typing sometimes my palm will touch or get hair close causing the mouse to fly across the screen and it to click on something.
The drivers had settings to reduce how sensitive it was and also to ignore palms or big areas, but of course the MS drivers do not have this.
Does anyone have any alternatives to these issues? I use my touchpad so dont want to kill it but this is nuts. Cant even use the correct driver because this darn keyboard lag issue.
I have latest bios already, tried the reg mode and nothing works but taking the drivers off.. What pisses me off more is our other notebook does not do this, and neither did my G50v-a2 I returned. But this G50vt-a2 does it.
This one and the other one are the same. I dont get why one does and one dont. I installed them both the same way when I reloaded with vista ult.
Anyway I am wondering if this is really an hardware issue. These touchpad drivers have been out forever and this problem only seems to be with some Asus models so its like they dont really like the hardware or something.
Asus trys to fix it with mods here and their but you can fix hardware issue with software patches. So unless this really is a glitch or something this will suck...
Anyway back to my issue, any suggestions on these nice features? It sucks. If I put drivers on I get keyboard lag, take them off and mouse flys all over from mistake bumping the touchpad... Either way cant type for jack! bahh! This is and the size are the only things I hate of this notebook. If they would fix this I would be happy!!! I have also tried setting the files to below normal when I had the drivers on, didnt make any diffrence for me.
I dont get any lockups just keyboard typing issues.
**Side question, has anyone tried any of these? http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=15103&st=0 I dont have time tonight to but its newer drivers but some of them are for the touchpad dual I think? Dont know if we dont gave it if it just wouldnt use that feature or what?
Anyway just wanted to share that link also I just found -
it looks more like a hardware problem/bios hack situation to me. since the driver will probably be in an additional module, went for the Fx's first:
- F0: EZflash
- F1: ?? (starts with ASUS)
- F6: Rom Loader
- F7: Rom Info
- F8: less likely keyboard driver
- F9: ??
- FA: more likely keyboard driver
attached the F8/FA modules (no change from 205 to 209).Attached Files:

Well I tried all the v11 drivers and none of them helped. They got a few neat new features but are no good if you cant type.
This suck. I wouldnt mind the MS drivers if i could make it not so sensitive.
Asus really needs to do something. Im betting its hardware and that means nothing software or firmware will fix it. I also bet that even if its confirmed hardware it wont get fixed because they dont want to replace so many notebooks.
It sucks that some do it and some dont. I got another notebook that works great but this one dont... If they all did the same thing it would force them to fix it right... -
With BIOS 209 and the latest Asus touchpad drivers the keyboard STILL lags on my G50V-A1. The lag is so bad that I can't touch type. My computer was build around August 17 (according to the event logs).
I have been using the Microsoft default drivers for the touchpad, but it often makes my mouse skip around when I hit it with my palm. I updated to BIOS 209 and finally got around to installing the Asus touchpad drivers, but the keyboard lag is definitely still there and very, very bad.
I will just disable the touchpad in the BIOS and will use it with the default Microsoft drivers on the rare occasion when I don't have a mouse.
On the whole, I think the G50 is an awesome machine. I sincerely hope Asus gets this sorted out. -
You dont have to disable it in the bios, just uninstall the touch drivers like you did. Than if you dont want to use it, disable in device manager. HAHA
Anyway I am with you, great NB if they can fix this issue. Other than that my only complaint is the size bigger than normal 15". but hey, we got killer video and 2 HD's, so I can take it.
If you have not already please do the online ticket with Asus. The more people keep bothering them the better... Even if they already told you no ETA in the past, once a week send them a new one asking again. Keep bringing it up so more reps hear about this issue. Word will get around faster that way when they are all like why these g50/m50 people keep asking about keyboard lag... lol -
Ok im new and im getting a g50v a1 at christmas i ordered it about 3 weeks ago.
I found this thread and now im worried about my unreal tournament 3 skills will suffer due to these flaws, which if i understand are:
- W+A and space doesnt work
- S+D and space doesnt work
- keyboard lag bad
does this affect all g50v a1s?
can it be fixed?
If it cant i guess i wont be buying anything from asus again and ill be stuck playing nooby in ut3 or fallout 3.
this is the only place i have heard of this problem....
i really dont want to put ut3 in the disk tray on christmas morning and discover that the keys suck -

hmm so fn+g will toggle the button combos from space to z? and also is the key board lag bad? Or does it insert a z and / randomly? this isn't much of a problem for me since I won't be typing essays on it
-
Yes Fn+G will enable other keys... Its buggy itself but it may do what you want.
As for the lag.... Well I had a G50v-a2 that was great. I returned it to get a G50vt-a2 and mine lagged more when it got warmer after use..
You can uninstall touchpad drivers to fix it if you dont care about the extra features it gives.
As for how bad it is, well that depends how fast you type I guess... It is easy to catch the faster you type, but if you type slower your chance on catching that lag is less.
The keyboard lag does not lag the computer itself though, its just the keyboard.. So if your playing a game the game does not lag, but if you do a lot of typing in the game you may notice some missing letters.
Say thanks Asus!
They got my notebook in repair right now for this issue but I doubt it will be fixed... I sent it in thinking mine was worse than it should be based off my last one being fine.
Only other bug with the notebook is if you use any USB ports and plug a headphone in you will get bad quality sound... This issue they said was normal and wont be fixed. Its a design flaw really... If you dont use USB and headphones at same time you wont notice it. -
Ty for this explanation I'll mostly be playing games on it and a few missing letters won't hurt I was just worried about not being able to strafe back and left and jump. So when I hit fn+g will a menu come up or something?

awsome lol ty im new to all this stuff
sry for asking so many questions its just that it was a lot of money and im surprised its not perfect lol
also what is BIOS?
will the computer have the newest BIOS already if its new or will i have to upgrade it?
how do you tell what BIOS you have?
also do drivers determine how well games are played and will the laptop have the newest ones if its new? or do i have to update?
rofl while im at it might as well ask, what does overclock mean?
i apologize asking all these questions -
It will prob come with bios 207 MAYBE 209 (which is latest) you can tell by pressing F2 at the boot screen when you turn it on or with the windows flash program it will have.
For the drivers, running the latest ones will give you best preformance... This is a new laptop... If it was one that has been out for a year than normally all the bugs that are major are fixed and they run good as is, most the time people say if its not broke dont fix... In this case it has a lot of issues, none are really big I guess except the keyboard lag.. So first thing I would do is format it and setup the raid how you want it (if you want to run that) and do a nice clean install and pick latest drivers from Asus site...
If you look around on the forum here you will find a lot of topics that will already answer most if not all of your questions and the topics go into great details, such as this one is now 24 pages...
Anyway, congratz on the purchase, hope it works better mine did, some people have no issues at all and some do, you may get lucky. -
thanks um what is raid?
