I got one of the first ones (I got mine a month before they went on sale) and it ran pretty hot.

I had that one replaced about two or so weeks ago, and it runs much cooler.

Now that I think about it, I had to use headphones when playing Prototype on my first G51. It could have been a software problem, but I don't need headphones to hear the dialogue any more.

Well, Prototype has had a ton of audio issues so it may be a newer issued patch that fixed the low audio problem.

Yes, it has 5 speakers apparently. 2 above the keyboard, 2 in the front of the chassis and 1 subwoofer underneath the unit.

wait, about those Swan speakers...is that a better choice over the Logitech Z Cinema? i was gonna get those but now the swan's seem like the professional company with quality.

also can someone plz confirm, does the G51Vx-A1 come with Creative X-FI onboard and whats with Realtek + Creative? Is the SRS part of realtek but it doesnt work when Creative MB is installed? If so, would someone reccomend uninstalling Creative or is Creative a good program to use?

imo creative hasn't done anything (as of yet) I'm planning on doing a clean install(when I switch to raid soon) and I'm not going to install it to see if it gives me any difference.

I know the Asus manual says that there is a subwoofer on the bottom of the G71, but there isn't one, not on the BB G71 or the A1. =/

This is actually pretty weird since even direct console has an option for the lights on the front of the chasis to change colors depending on bass speaker volume. This option doesn't work, and I guess this is because there is no subwoofer/bass speaker. argh

The swan speakers will definitely be better than the Logitech ones. Swan is audiophile grade quality, logitech is consumer grade quality.

    Turn up the volume?

If the max volume is still not enough, then do the little trick discussed like a couple dozen posts ago.

Purchased a g51vxa1 yesterday. The speakers on this one are much louder than any of the previous ones I have listened to. I'm of the opinion that either the early model speakers weren't installed correctly (the actual speakers) or..
Haven't tried the headphones yet, that's next.

well, i just connected my headset through my Altec Lansing speakers and now it plays much much better like it suppose to, i guess it has to do with g51 sound card or smth.... I guess from now on if i want to listen to a nice tune with high volume its the only option for me. I played with settings but nothing helped but this.

Wish I had one so I could mess around and try to find whats wrong. If mine will have the same problem I'm going to look into getting a small amp that takes batteries so its still mobile. Just a small unit to boost the volume a bit.

I just found that the EAX boost for the speakers on the G51VX-X1A, comes defaulted to OFF. Haven't tested yet...but within this app there are tons of ways to boost sound performance. there is a little white nob in the system tray called Realktek High Definition Audio, and above it it says Volume Panel. double click it, and once inside the window that pops up, go to Main Display. alot of things come unchecked default, but seem (imo) to increase the volume by a fair amount.

Everyone with the g51vx, do you get static sounds on the left side of your speakers?

I don't think i have a problem with my speakers being quiet, but on the other hand, the left side makes some static sounds while the right side is alright.

    Anyone elses do the same?

It could be due to interference if you have a cellphone nearby

Where was the installation file on driver disk and what was it called? Maybe the G71 has this creative suite thing as well...
