Excellent. Thanks simmi. That makes the UX31A more attractive to me now. It's going to be a tough decision.

Called them, they said it would arrive by the 20th... Something about a shipping carrier not yet selected? I asked if it shipped on the 19th if I would still get it on 20th, he said yes... So I am skeptical but we shall see...

    Hi Folks!

I'm most likely to buy the:
ASUS ZENBOOK UX32VD 13,3" FHD IPS with norwegian configuration (because they truly differs from country to country).
    Google Oversetter

In addition I also want to upgrade with:
    Samsung SSD 830 Series 256GB 2.5"
    DDR3 SO-DIMM 1600MHz 8GB

    Do anyone know if the Crusial 8GB, 204-pin SODIMM, DDR3 PC3-12800 memory module ( CT102464BF160B - 8GB, 204-pin SODIMM , DDR3 PC3-12800 from Crucial.com) is acceped?

    Or is CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 PC3 12800 ( Newegg.com - CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model CMSX8GX3M1A1600C10the only one which works?

Do we actually know how much the UX31A-DB71 is going to be? (Amazon had inflated pre-sale prices of $1750 before it became unavailable, but I'm looking for the more realistic price.)

Based on what I've been seeing, I'm guessing around $1500.

ASUS Zenbook Prime UX31A-DB71 13.3" Ultrabook. ASUS UX31A-DB71
    Ux31a-db71 I7-3517 1.9g 4g 256gb 13.3in Bt W7hp UX31A-DB71 - Buy Asus Laptops & Netbooks Computer Systems | PCNation.com

Also, I saw it for $1499.99 on Amazon before they marked it as out of stock.

I think that was the UX31A-DB7 2, the version with Windows 7 Professional (Instead of Home Premium) and TPM (Trusted Platform)

ASUS North America has said the device is out and Frys, BHphoto and Newegg should have it hopefully by end of today on their site

Saw that. I hope the Microsoft Store says something soon. I think the BHphoto inventory is the best list right now for referencing models/pricing for each model.

asus zenbook prime | B&H Photo Video

For me, I'm considering the UX31A-DB71 for $1500 or UX32VD-DB71 for $1300 and spend an extra $200 or so on a SSD.

Since both options will run me about $1500 I'm just thinking whether I'd like the all aluminum, thin body, or dedicated GPU. :/ Tough

Yeah, this is my debate now. I think I'm going to go for the unibody UX31A-DB71 because I'm not sure how well the switchable graphics would work with Ubuntu. Besides, slimmer, lighter, sexier... :D

Very true. Also, I'm a little worried about the flexing on the keyboard with the VD models some have reported. Not that the 31A is guaranteed to not have this.

But I'm just hoping the HD 4000 will be enough for my design usage. Plus no modifying anything after. I should be fine with 256GB though. 4GB is great but it's also impossible to upgrade RAM on it right? :(

I've seen conflicting info on whether the RAM is upgradable on the UX31A, mostly in this thread. It'd be nice to have the flexibility, but I think I should be fine for my use...

Anyone have any idea on available colours? If it's just the dark grey that'd available, that'd fine with me, but I'd like to check out my options regardless.

Any confirmation whether the UX31A-DB51 in north america are coming with Sandisk or ADATA SSDs? I'm itching to place an order but can't decide between the UX31A-DB51 or the UX32VD-DB71.

They don't even have the Ivy Bridge Samsung Series 9 13" models. Seems like the Vizio update is a bit of an anomaly.

Gotcha, thanks. You're looking at that rose gold one hah? My girlfriend said she wanted that one lol.

Unfortunately, I've only seen it offered on the UX31E, but the Prime versions may or may not have been shown off at Computex too.

Yeah, true. But they also offer other Ivy Bridge models. Strange.

I've seen a lot of confirmation of ADATA SSDs being used, but not specifically to NA yet. Hopefully we find out very soon with people being given confirmation of shipments this week.

Hell no, I don't do pink. Ever.

I'll likely go for the dark grey, but I remember seeing a bronzish Zenbook and wanted to check it out too.

Just looking at the pink picture you posted makes me heave a little bit... :p

Rose gold's more bearable than the hot pink at least. Apparently, that's the IN color lately.

If that made you heave, wait till you see this one.

Has anyone tested the video out on a larger monitor yet (2560x1440)? I was wondering what cable might I be able to use? I cannot for the life of me find a micro-hdmi to dual-dvi cable.

It's like Kirino's laptop but newer and thinner :3

Had a couple questions about this model series:

    1. That touchscreen version looked the most tempting to me. Is there any news about when this will be released? (Please don't say fall...)

    2. I've noticed almost all the chat seems to be about the 13-inch model, and it also seems to be the main one listed in online stores, but I haven't discovered why that is. Is the 11-inch one delayed or something?

Any idea where this person might have gotten theirs?

Has that been in reference to the 128gb SSDs as well? I think I've seen people mention the 256GB versions coming out with ADATA drives.

A few pages back, I posted some references to users from Germany and China showing that they had ADATA drives in both 128GB and 256GB. Whether or not they'll be using that for NA models is still a mystery, but I'm betting they are.

I think the inferior U100 Sandisks were just for review devices. We'll find it very soon though as people are getting their shipped this week apparently.

Anyone from Canada found any kind of release date yet? Amazon.ca is saying shipping somewhere from July 3-13 for me. Excalibur.com is going to require me to go through the pain in the butt of a wire transfer, and then charge me additional money for my troubles, and it's not in stock to boot. B&H also only shows it up for preorder.

I can only find the ASUS UX31A-DB51 (made harder cause they never once use the word "prime" on that page) on Amazon.ca. I might do some sort of US mailbox then ship to Canada thing, especially if a lot of these retailers are shipping for free to US addresses.

Yes yeah I found that odd, that they have the Vizio up but not the Samsung Series 9. It could be that the Vizio comes with Microsoft signature no bloatware, so that could be the reason...I need a new laptop ASAP. So I am hoping Newegg MS or Frys stocks quickly so I can try to get the free xbox.

This has got to be one of the worst "product launches" I have ever seen. At day's end, the only retailers that Asus lists on its Zenbook Prime promo page have the laptop available for pre-order only. How is that a launch? Why can't I just buy the damned thing?

Get used to it! I love ASUS products, but when it comes to US releases for high end products, it's always a very slow roll-out. Same thing happened for the Transformer Prime tablet. Thing was impossible to track down in the states for the first few months.

It is interesting that Newegg has the Ram as being DDR3 1333 when everywhere else is listing it as 1600. I assume Newegg just has a typo?

One of my friends is looking to buy a Zenbook UX32VD in the UK for work. The UK Warranty repair service, as I read from reviews all over, looks pretty unfavourable. Zenbook looks amazing; I have not purchased any Asus notebooks to draw my own experience.

While the reviews are generally from those with bad experiences, it is possible that good reviews of the UK service are not visible on the forum. Should Asus be avoided, given the service is going to be handled in the UK?
