Nice deal & upgrade esp for 1080p! it should hold you over for a long time atleast thru 2016 and possibly longer! interesting to know that the 7xxx series are working out well. The latest ati drivers are not meshing well with our laptop, so I'm hoping that development of new drivers will eventually work on our laptop....but as of now, 13.4whql is the last one to mostly work properly...so that may ultimately end up being the reason to upgrade to a newer laptop if playing latest games on a mobile system is a priority.

 update: On SDforums, another owner of our laptop let us know that Windows 8 upgrade allowed later 13.6beta drivers to work. So if we need newer driver support, then we "may" have to upgrade from Win7 to Win8. I'm hoping this doesn't remain true for later drivers as I prefer Win 7 for compatibility & functioning of most programs/games and don't like the metro style windows and hidden menus of control panel & programs, & shutdown etc.

It will never be perfect and a lower high end card will always be better than a dual lower setup IMO.

Just Passing on the news about a new latest graphic driver FIX bringing back Switchable Graphics Menu function for Asus K53TA owners and all AMD dual graphic laptop owners using Win 7x64. It's a modded 13.8 beta 2 driver!
Click on name of the driver below:

AMD 13.8 Mobility_Beta2_PowerXpress_Fix (by LeeKM): The Fix brings back switchable graphics menu . Installation may bring up compatibility warning messages about not being a signed AMD driver, but it installs fine. Game performance on games like BF3 & Crysis3 is better up to +1 to +5 FPS and all games feel a little smoother. This is the first new driver to work on our Win 7x64 laptops since 13.4whql. Enjoy!

I've been seeing this driver there in Guru3D, so it works? Latest driver that worked for me are 13.5b2, still using it...

@ haymanali2006 Uefi boot is not for this laptop. On every restart/shut down it freeze.

About LeekM`s driver idk. Will let others test it, I will stay on 13.4 for now.

Yes, LeeKM's driver works 100%; It's Legit!; Not sure how much improvement over 13.5b2, but definitely better than 13.4. It's a mod made for all types of AMD switchable gfx laptops.
I was hesitant to move on from 13.4whql (thinking it was the best), but now I think 13.8b2 LeeKM is the one to use on our K53TA.

I used to keep my laptop on single graphics mode, but find dual graphics perfectly fine (later I may go back to single gfx out of old habbit).
Recent games like NFS mostWanted & AliensColonialMarines became 2 or 3x smoother and much more playable (so newer games seem optimized the most); other games like BF3 & crysis3 had slightly improved smoothness. Generally I found all types of games played smoother and more stable than before & I haven't experienced any strange incompatibility bugs yet.

I think i'm gonna wait new drivers then update. Rome II TW driver is coming soon, apparently there is an issue with nvidia/amd.

I just installed over the old 13.4 as an express install. The file from LeekM was
"AMD_Catalyst_13.8_Mobility_Beta2_PowerXpress_Fix.7z" ;it was 325mb in size, and then extracted out to 500mb. So not sure why the file was so large, but I just deleted the extracted driver after it was installed. I'm hoping AMD officially makes future drivers compatible with our switchable gfx systems, but if they don't then we may have no choice but to use LeeKM's mods for future drivers (assuming he keeps making them).

I noticed LeeKM also went back and made driver fixes for earlier drivers, eg. 13.6b2, 13.12 etc.
AMD Catalyst Mobility PowerXpress and Enduro Fix Drivers(13.4/13.6b2/13.8b2/Rev13.12)

Some people on the guru3d forums mentioned that games had better FPS on 13.6b2 rather than later drivers. I found my old game Batman Arkam Asylum was broken by 13.8b2 & 13.10b unless anti aliasing was turned off. So some old games are not as compatible with latest drivers, while newest games are usually fine. I might go back & try 13.6b2 before trying out 13.10b.

    __SEE UPDATE BELOW:
crap :( I thought we were set....I wonder if LeeKM forgot to do something in his mod. I assumed 13.10 would be ok. I will have to update my wiki about this not working...I wonder if the LeeKM 13.6b2 works or not (I may try those next)?, or maybe we just got lucky with LeeKM's 13.8beta2. So I found 13.4whql most stable but newer games played faster with 13.8b2.

Update: LeeKM updated his post with the proper APU version of the AMD 13.10 enduro fix (the last one we all tried was an INTEL+AMDgfx version.); I haven't tried them yet, so I'm not sure if they work yet....I might give them a try later tonight.

update2: I tried the new APU versions 13.10 by LeeKM and they still don't work :( :(. This is the first time I experienced the dreaded nonfunctional switchable graphics menu. >>I right click on desktop and configure switchable graphics is there but "It appears all black" with no control of which apps run off high performance gpu and power saving apu.

What are the proper steps to take to install older drivers that will function normally? I have been unsuccessful so far. (I tried a fresh install of 13.8b2LM and 13.4whql by cleaning out old drivers but I fear I corrupted my drivers. now my CCC and switchable gfx menu won't open). Presently I have my display driver is installed and games/apps work well with 13.8b2LM, but without ccc and it's features I lack control of assigning games to high performance and future games that I install.

You should have made a system restore point... Uninstall everything, put 13.4 and after "on top" 13.8b2 fix. Assigning games to high performance is possible after.

Well I'm back in business and first installed "OLD" official ASUS chipset driver and currently on 13.4 again. I found some old instructions to do a proper clean install. Here's my steps in case others have the same problems:
**. First make a system restore point (go to Control Panel>system&security>system>system protection tab>CREATE restore point.)
    1. uninstall AMD catalyst through Iorbit uninstaller or revouninstaller
    2. install Driver Fusion(updated version of driver sweeper) and reboot into safe mode to remove ATI related display driver.
    3. Reboot into Normal Mode: Use Windows Installer Cleanup utility 2.5.0.1 ---Delete anything related to AMD drivers/ATI/CCC/Catalyst Control center
    4. Go to msconfig> Services -->> AMD External Events Utility -->> Disable / Stop Service ..
(Command Prompt with elevated permissions & type --> sc delete "AMD External Events Utility")--I didn't have to do this step since prior 3 steps cleaned everything, but I did them anyways & found nothing. Run ccleaner.
    5.Reboot normally, Delete all ATI/AMD folders in "C:\Program Files" and "C:\Program Files (x86)". (But I found nothing here due to prior steps);
    6. Finally install your choice of Drivers --I chose the original Asus chipset driver just to be safe... ; then installed 13.4 on top of that.
Next I will update my system to 13.8b2LeeKM like before.
update: I'm now back on 13.8b2 LeeKM. :)

If it's going to be this difficult in the future, then I don't think I'll be too hasty to update again for a long while.

    2. enable uefi boot
    3. boot pc on usb, install w8, when it asks where to install win8. Also it will not let u install win8 cause hdd is mbr, look the commands in other pic . and made it gpt then install :)
Dont forget to back up ur files

Mine is overclocked to 2.2Ghz (2.5Ghz turbo). Max temps while playing BF3 are 81c.

Are you using K10stat? It's fairly easy to overclock and match A8 CPU's.

    Hi guys

I am having trouble with the proper crossfire/gpu usage.
Both shogun 2 and rome 2 recognizes the 6520G with its proper memory of 1536 mb (6520G:512mb and 6600M series:1024mb)
When i play Shogun 2 the 6600M kicks in and supports the 6520G (with great results on high settings). With rome 2 the 6600M does nothing. Explaining all the ****.

I am using Original drivers 13.10 beta and I cant change settings in the bios and can not try the high performance trick in the controle center (powerplay!?) or any other trick.
Does LeekM drivers fixes this problem? If so how do i install it succesfully and how do I make the GPU the primary adapter?
Is Wagnard's Driver Uninstaller (DDU) / Cleaner made for Display Drivers (NVIDIA/AMD) enough?

Thanks so much. Great forum btw

Turn dual-graphics off, it's buggy and have alot micro stutter. 13.10b are are not working for switchable-graphics, even LeeKM fix2 are not working. It also have brightness problem where slider is gone.

13.8b2 LeeKM fix should work though, but if that dosn't work for you go back to good old 13.4 whql.

Uninstall all amd catalyst from control panel, go in safe mode and clean amd drivers with driver sweeper or driver fusion, clean registry with ccleaner. Boot in normal way, enable test mode with the tool from leekM`s thread and restart. Install 13.8 b2 fix from LeekM and set like in the pics bellow. I hope you have amd apu+amd gpu...

well i switched back to 13.4 and i noticed the difference with fan speed and gpu heat. 13.8 resulted in the fan speed being very high and gpu temp also.
How weird is that? 13.4 seems more stable though. Weird thing is when i run rome 2 on fullscreen the game stutters and fps is generally low. I also notice the gpu not working properly. When i play it in a window the gpu does all the work and the game runs smooth and 10 fps better. I though that was something with crossfire not working fullscreen right? when i switch off crossfire in the control centre the results still remain the same. Any ideas or does that mean the game is not optimized?

It may be the later drivers are making the GPU work harder and therefore causing more heat. You don't get anything for free unfortunately.

yup but 13.4 seems more stable to me as it achieves the same result with less heat and fan power. Anyhow, thanks guys, by 'downgrading' i am finally able to force rome2 on using my gpu, even though it is only in windowed mode. But there is a good fix out for that, forcing windowed to fullscreen. can play the game on high settings now with a stable 30 fps instead of 20 with heavy drops.

    cheers

    Hey Guys,

It has been a while. I just had an idea the other day. Has anyone ever thought if our Sabine chips can upgrade to Trinity or maybe Richland?

    Thanks

That's true though. Llano oc'd to 2.3ghz - 2.6ghz turbo (like mine) can easily match any trinity A8 CPU, or even A10.

The best CPU upgrade possible is an A8MX CPU (maybe 10-15% better than our A6) and use faster RAM & faster sata3 hdd, which I would assume would keep you on par with the best modern day laptops for atleast the next 2 or 3 years. But all of that would run you atleast $100+. I'm just staying with our current A6 and save all extra money for a better laptop in 2 years.
