bump... maybe with the file we can improve this?

Have your tried disabling some of the settings like nautis suggested earlier?
I'm still not able to test, but if I could, I'd probably start by disabling this:
HKLM,"Software\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Hybrid",StartupMethod,%REG_DWORD%,5 -
By the way: Sleeping and returning the computer from sleep seems to remove Nvidia from Device manager if on intel. This on Modded 197.16 Hybrid Graphics Driver (v3 if I remember correctly).
-
Bumping this thread as well ^^
I want to thank Nautis for all his hard work, but i'm experimenting the same problems as r0b0t with the 256 alpha drivers :
- Can't change the brightness when on Intel
- When on Nvidia, if i close the lid, the screen goes black and never wakes up
- When on Intel, the Nvidia card doesnt disappear from the device manager, and my autonomy is cut by half (about 4 hours instead of 8+)
Hope you're still reading this thread, i'm not quite pro with messing in the registry and all this drivers stuff ^^ -
Nautis is going to release some new drivers for 4500M and 4500HD chipsets soon. Dont hang up guys

Got a new 260.63 package to test drop me a PM if you want the link. I am sure some settings will need to be worked out so don't expect it to be working 100%.
-
How do I send a PM?
-
I cant guarantee these will even work as nvidia changed a few things. What I am looking for is relatively experienced users who have no problem signing the drivers (instructions included) giving me a report of what is and isn't working and then helping me test some settings.
I can PM you the link once you enable private messaging. -
Hey it's time to get the thread alive again! Any news on an updated official driver from asus yet?
What is the last "usable" inofficial driver update from Nautis? Usable means it has not any serious flaws like not allowing to switch graphics. -
I would really like to pull more performance out of this thing -
After some hunting at the Hybrid Graphics Master Set Drivers thread I found the beta version of the 260.63 package here. Do not count on this to be stable, and do endeavor to have as clean of an install before using it as possible.
I believe Nautis is still going through some extenuating personal circumstance, so we probably can't expect any sort of reliable contribution from him any time soon (which I don't mean in a bad way).
As far as I know, the latest reasonably stable release for us is the 197 release. To the best of my knowledge, people have had various issues with all subsequent releases.
edit: derp grammar -
I am currently using the 197 drivers and they work 95% of the time. the only time they seem unhappy is when my laptop comes out of hibernation on battery. then i have trouble adjusting brightness with the hotkeys, but a quick graphics flip-flop solves it.

Thanks for updating the people here Keishin. Things have leveled off for me a bit for the time being so back into the game I am.
Hybrid Graphics Master Set (Nvidia 256.90/Intel 2226) is up for private testing so lets hope things go well enough for a public release soon. Not sure if 2226 will work for the UL30/50/80VT but we shall see. The M11xR1 users seem to be having some success. Fingers crossed people. -
Made all steps like in post 1 on new - just from shop - UL30VT (SU2300, 3GB DDR3, GF210) laptop - started, configured windows, updated BIOS (211), uninstalled nvidia drivers, used ASUS utility (step b in uninstalling), installed preparated drivers.
When I installed those self-made drivers I was asked for restart (in description there is info that there will be no monit for that - I had one) - made it and all seems to work just fine.
I can switch between graphic, GPU-Z shows all feutures ON.
Made simple test - Media Player Classic Home Cinema + CoreAVC + Sharpen Complex 2 Shader + 1080p movie
On old drivers - 98%CPU and slideshow.
On new drivers 23%CPU and 55%GPU - full speed.
And that's why I installed drivers. Not for gaming (for that i have PC and Y530 laptop). I can watch FullHD movies whit SU2300 - priceless

my hdmi doesn't work properly on moded drivers....
-
Just registered to say "You're a legend Nautis!!!".
Thanks so much for developing these drivers for the hybrid graphics community, the slack manufacturers really need a kick in the for this type of stuff.
I recently just got a UL30VT just as a casual computer but it's a very decent device for the money I paid and it'd be a shame to see a lack of performance due completely to lack of driver support from the manufacturers.
Where do we donate to help support you? -
How has version 260 been working for all of you ?
-
I've ordered a Vertex II SSD so hopefully when it gets here we'll have a more developed version of the drivers with everything signed correctly. -

[Unofficial Win 7 64bit [Nvidia: 197.16 | Intel: 1855 ] for Asus_UL3/5/80VT] - links to file - [19716_win7x64_AsusHG.exe]
Audio Software Problem. One other question. There is a program... "SRS Premium Sound" that only recognizes laptop mode or headphone mode, never the external speakers that I plug in. It sees them as headphones. The panel itself also doesn't seem to have any options to set. I click "Options" on the top left of the panel and I get a regular windows menu with move, minimize, close, about, ETC.
In the about section of this menu, it says that the Control Panel version is 1.3.10 and the APO is 1.4.8.0.
Does this need to be upgraded? Deleted? Is it bloatware? lolz
I'm thinking, it would sound much better on the external speakers if it would actually recognize them and set itself to use them efficiently. -
That is indeed the file you'd be after.
I believe the SRS Premium Sound module is the sort of optional vendor-ware that does more good than harm. I believe it applies environmental effects to improve the sound from the downfiring speakers in particular.
As far as jack sensing goes, it only detects that something is plugged in. There's no way for it to see what type of device. You should be able to select between headphones and external (and internal) speakers. You can also set this in the standard sound control panel built into Windows. There is a considerably newer version of the Panel available; I'm currently running 1.4.9.0.
Graphics obviously being the one major, unfortunate exception, you should be able to find the most recent drivers on Asus' support site. I would update SRS and anything Realtek (since they provide the actual device & driver). If you would prefer to remove SRS utility you certainly may; your sound will still function as long as you have the realtek driver installed. -
Not too sure about this. Do either of these drivers update the SRS? I've been to SRS official site and have seen nothing to download in terms of updates. -
Anyone here got these drivers running stable? I cannot get the OEM drivers to run stable, anytime I use the G210M Windows 7 Freezes, soon after boot. Using the modified drivers, it is slightly more stable but not a big improvement. Does anyone have a 100% stable setup with the old driver or new ones? I want to know how you pulled it off.
-
What sort of stability problems are you encountering?
I am running these latest community built drivers and they're 100% stable for my purposes I've only had one crash and I was overclocking the graphics card at that time.
Windows 7 freezing may not be an nvidia driver issue it at all, it could be something else entirely.. Have you tried a clean install? -
I want forwarding for Korean friends.
Can I forwarding to "www.parkoz.com"?
There is Famous site by IT Technicals, news & Tips for korean.
More then thousand person has using the ul30vt in Korea & they want solve CUDA hardware acceleration problems.
It will be a good technical infomation for Korean Laptopusers. -
Without knowing any details about your situation, you're most likely trying to do something the version of drivers you have installed won't... or you've got more serious OS corruption/hardware issues.
However, if by "forward" you mean to re-host or republish the content on your own site (translated? not?), I would say that very much comes down to what Nautis says about it.
Apologies if the language barrier is an issue both ways. Short version: Link? Probably fine. Copy & Paste? Ask Nautis. -
I am talking OEM drivers, after a clean install of windows 7, immediately after windows 7 finishes installing, I go to install the nvidia drivers and the freezing starts.
-
You need to install the ATK / ACPI drivers first..
If that doesn't solve it, run a memory test and HDD test. -
I have installed those items first, memory tests good and HDD is fine, and it was working when I first got the laptop. It just is not now, so I am trying an original copy of windows 7 with no updates and then trying to get it work and it still freezes.
does anyone here have a copy of the ul50vt restore disk they would be willing to share with me so I can try to get this computer up and working without having to spend 50 bucks without knowing it will work? -
Here's the magnet link for a torrent of them.
-
-
thank you.
Nevermind it just started THANK YOU! -
So this is the only way to install optimus drivers?
I have tried every single driver so far with either freezing before even booting, or for some weird reason not even being compatible with my graphics card -
Optimus drivers are a completely separate matter. Nautis' thread on that matter is here.
-
is there any way to remove the nvidia icon from the tray?
it doesnt do anything other than show you if you are using integrated or discrete, which is obvious anyway
i know you can "hide" it by right click taskbar, properties, customize, uncheck always show.... but then windows has that arrow on the taskbar which i dont want either.
anyone? -
Okay, I installed "The Transformers - War For Cybertron" and it works well. The game installed NVidia PhysX, unknown to me, and later on I saw it in the Add/Remove programs list and removed it. The game refused to function after that. Reinstalled PhysX and it worked fine. Question is, I thought PhysX didn't work with the stock drivers. Which is leading me to ask, does the Adobe Flash 10.1 acceleration work with the stock drivers as well? Going to do a clean install of this UL50vt-x1 as soon as I back my data up to the external and i'm just wondering how much of the original stuff i'll want to change.
I also see nothing about PhysX in the NVidia control panel, like you guys were talking about in earlier posts... -
(Note: answers below based on UL30, UL50 may differ)
PhysX acceleration with GPU doesn't work with stock drivers. PhysX itself can be run on the CPU. (there should be tab in GPU options if supported)
Flash acceleration doesn't work with stock drivers. You can check the required driver version from Adobe. -
im so sick of my ul80vt switching back forth during games. i actually dont care about battery life now. i just want the machine to stay on dedicaed graphics. is there a driver for that?

GraphiX Boost Button Broken
Does anyone know of a good version of the RealTEK audio driver that gives user defined EQ freedom, and seamless graphics switching? Why the hell would an audio process stop the graphics card from switching anyway? Just when everything seems to be perfect with this laptop...#@$%#@$!!
The default "Realtek HD Audio Manager" (version 6.01.5936) has no user defined EQ (graphical equalizers that you can set manually), therefore the sound coming from the laptop isn't as good as it should be. There are only lame options like Rock, Jazz, Live, Classical, etc.
I upgraded the sound driver to one that wasn't even in the UL50VT-X1 list on the ASUS support webpage, because there is only one driver there. The new ones work okay, but when it came time to switch graphics cards, the process "RAVCpl64.exe" has to be ended manually in the task manager.
Do I have to live with the crappy default driver? I've been uninstalling and reinstalling and shutting down and restarting to install different versions, (the new 2 step way involving restart sucks) some have the user-defined EQ option, some don't, (aparently RealTEK thought people were dumb enough to buy cheap audio equipment off the shelf with Rock, Pop, Live and Classical presets, but then ended up having to put the EQ back in, in later versions), but all of the drivers except the default one, give some kind of retarded error. "Close these programs before switching blah blah.. bleh."
I'm fed up, f*ck this endless loop of fail, and f*ck this non-EQ driver. F*ck you RealTEK for removing the EQ from some versions of your retarded audio driver. And f*ck ASUS for being so damn sexy. Love this laptop. -
I know there's a way to whitelist processes so that they don't stop it from switching. I came across the method either here or on LV2G. It's been awhile so I don't remember the specifics, but I think it involved one of the custom updated drivers with a small amount of hacking afterward. It's going to have to do with the nVidia tray app (the one that has one or two arcs depending on your video mode).
Hopefully that's enough info for you to be able to find it. -
Hey People
New Bios out for UL80VT, it says:
