Unfortunately not... I've searched until it lead me right back to this post, lolz. LV2G says it's down for maintenance, bleh. Anymore help / directions would be greatly appreciated, furthermore, i'd like to start some kind of easy to find post with all the little picky fixes these non-optimus (Decepticon!!) laptop users should know about. These little transformers deserve it for sure.

No luck yet. I still don't know what exactly i'm looking for. Does this NVidia tray application have a specific name? Also, i've never installed these custom drivers, so I don't know what the new tray application looks like or anything like that.

On my UL50 I was able to whitelist programs so they no longer stopped it from switching.

Hello, just registered. I'm going to use this guide along with the other information I kind find here along with personal knowledge to make an updated driver package for my Laptop. I have an Asus UL80VT and the manufacturer supplied drivers are severely outdated. I plan to first work on creating a hybrid install for my laptop. Then I am in the near future going to wipe my system and set it up using the hybrid drivers from scratch. I also plan to look at all the drivers associated with this laptop and work on them as well. (Audio, Video, firmware, DVD, etc...) This guide looks to be a good place to start.

These laptops have a graphics switch for a reason, instead of trying to get NVidia Optimus to work, focus on at least maintaining the latest drivers for the G210m. NVidia Optimus is so much to ask of these non-Optimus laptops.

Anyone know is there any working updates of the hybrid graphics driver?

coz I need a stable environment and therefore don't wanna risk installing an Optimus Driver..

I think it's been pretty stable so far. The drawback is that it uses a little more power. I would usually get a discharge rate of around 7W (Intel card) when I'm on idle with no programs running and using the battery saving mode on power4gear. But now I'm getting 10W with the Optimus drivers (G210M off). I was using BatteryBar.

There is a way to check if the G210M card is on (it was mentioned in the laptopvideo2go forum) if you go to Device Manager->Display Drivers->G210M then click on properties->detail tab and finally choose the Power data Property. It will either say D1 or D3 for the current power state, with D1 and D3 meaning ON and OFF respectively.

What version of Intel driver you are using? I wanna try installing the latest driver from Intel.

I have installed Intel2086 + Nvidia270.61. They are working quite nice, experienced one system freeze requiring hard poweroff while testing though.
However, it didn't work well with flash plugin for firefox, the plugin-container hanged when GPU switching from Off to On.

btw, the power states for my G210m are only D0 and D3, I don't know why it is different from yours.

    Opps my mistake, you're correct it's D0 and D3. I'm using Intel's 2303 Drivers from Feburary 18, 2011.

I came up with the work around for the flash container for firefox. In the Nvidia settings, find the "manage 3d settings" then manually add the plugin container. It should be in \program files(x86)\firefox\. Next choose either Nvidia or Intel. I hope that works!

I have set the entire firefox.exe to run on integrated display, 'cause the Hd flash video play smoothly as hardware acceleration works well on intel display.

I found IE9 having problems with flash also. It crashes while GPU is turning from ON->OFF, e.g. closing all Youtube tabs.

Yeah, maybe some programs can't handle the graphics switch? With the original UL50VT drivers you had to close those programs before the switch could even be made.

You got those Nvidia 270.61 drivers installed on an Asus UL80VT? Could you provide some help on how to install them and make them run correctly please? I didn't see any hint on that in this topic (or I missed it...).

I deactivated the integrated intel card via control panel, removed all drivers, installed the latest verde notebook drivers from NVidia, install ran smooth, but after that and the reboot, the G210m was detected with some "conflict" (control panel showing that there is an issue with the card, and it not running normally).

I looked in the bios but it doesnt seem we can deactivate the integrated intel chipset there sadly...

NB: I use a UL80VT, stock drivers (reinstalled asus drivers, will try the modded one tomorrow).

New user here. Everyone's hard work has been very enlightening and helpful.

I've been having a similar issue to the one Keishin described above with my UL30VT. Whenever I'm streaming video via Netflix there will be random instances of slowdown. Sometimes it recovers and sometimes it doesn't. I've successfully updated with the modded 197.16 Hybrid drivers and it's still having this issue. Has anyone had the same issue? IF so, have you been able to fix? Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated.

I've got a problem with a UL80Vt laptop. I had to reload the laptop due to a software issue. Subsequently, I noticed I no longer had support for the nVidia graphics. I've contacted ASUS, and, as you can expect, they were not helpful. I'm wondering if this driver will help resolve my problem. My original post on this forum is here and describes my problem and its symptoms. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I used the instructions here like many others on here to successfully install the latest intel (2555) and nvidia (302.59) drivers to my UL30vt. Optimus seems to be working so far but I haven't done a lot of testing so don't be surprised if you see me posting on here in 15 minutes that my head hurts from beating it against a wall :)

But like I said so far it works. I'm just annoyed at how long it took to find all the information necessary to make this process work. I'll make a new post about how I did it if I can't find one already on here. Thanks to all who have been working to get hybrid machines into the optimus era.

Edit: Optimus works according to Optimus tools, although it does drain a tad more battery. I don't care, I'm just beyond glad that I don't have to jump through hybrid hoops anymore to switch between integrated and dedicated graphics.

Having the latest drivers for the first time on this machine makes me very happy. I've installed only a few games so far to test it out, but haven't run into a single issue yet. I also tested flash in chrome and ie9 since past users have said the hardware acceleration is buggy. No hiccups yet.

The only problem I have so far is Optimus doesn't know how to tell windows to clone display via hdmi. But it's an issue even for laptops designed to have optimus drivers, it's not specific to my install. I'd be interested to hear if anyone finds this entertaining or even educational, and like I said, I can do a write up to streamline the process for other UL series users if anyone wants.

Interesting if the hybrid graphics works with Optimus drivers without any problems, but until now I haven't heard about it...
Are you still having the reported boot/sleep/hibernate delay?
    Which OS are you using?
Can you provide links to the drivers and the modded INF for this?

I hear you man! Sometimes I just want to throw in the towel on all Microsoft and Apple products, but I just end up using both and complementing my pc/mac usage with a little linux here and there. Let me know how it goes on Windows 8, I'm curious if you'll have any problems with finding an Intel driver besides whatever Windows 8 decides to install for you.

    MicMan,

Have you been able to check you wattage draw to make sure the Nvidia card isn't running 24x7 still?

I'm going to have to toy around with running the 300s for my release/bundle.

Could you by any chance upload what you got?

The Latest seems to be: 260 that are rock solid IMO. So Solid I decided to package a new bundle that IMO is a little easier to follow/more in depth: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...nvidia260-63-driver-bundle-compiled-ndmr.html

I successfully install the latest intel (2555) and nvidia (302.59) drivers on my Asus UL80Vt, but i can't use nVidia card.

nVidia control panel write that display doesn't connect to nvidia graphics (in device manager everything fine).

Optimus test viewer write "nvidia gpu: on", but if i try to mark "show optimus overlay" it write "no support in nvcpl to update optimus driver registry. use latest driver".

How can we switch cards or use only nVidia?

NDMr, I don't know the wattage draw but I know the Nvidia card is inactive unless Optimus decides its needed. There is a tool put out by Nvidia called the Optimus test tool, and this tool reports the on/off state of the Nvidia card, and which applications are requiring it to be on if it is. The tool reports that my Nvidia card is not on whenever I check it during basic web browsing and such, but as soon as I launch a game or force an application to use the Nvidia card, it cranks right up.

I will say that I lost maybe 2 hours of battery life over the original Asus drivers, but I really don't care because it is just so much less annoying. I no longer have to open task manager and close processes just to switch back and forth. And I have the most updated Intel and Nvidia drivers available. Overall it's a big win in my book.

Gamer-X, how did your installation go? Did you follow the instructions on laptop2go? The show optimus overlay option doesn't work for me either, I get the same error. But it doesn't mean your driver isn't working. Now the control panel error sounds bad. I however have no idea what to do about it. Try starting from scratch?

Yes, I am using 302.59, and I am also using the modified .inf from the laptopvideo2go forums. Without the modified .inf, I was unable to install the driver, so it was absolutely necessary. I didn't modify the .inf myself, I just used the one from laptopvideo2go.

    Dear micman & all :
    My laptop is UL30Vt
I followed the below instructions to update the default hybrid graphic drivers to v302.59 from v302.59 Windows 7/Vista 64bit | NVIDIA OEM Mobile - 30x Series GeForce Driver release - LaptopVideo2Go Forums
with the INF Modified they give.
    [Win7 x64]
1.uninstall the Nvidia drivers from Control Panel.[resolution change to 800x600]

    2.reboot to safe mode.

3.run the driversweeper to clean the Nvidia Display and Nvidia Physx.

    4.reboot to normal mode.

5.go to device manager, the both graphic card change to yellow mark.

6.right click the Mobile Intel 4 Express Family Chipset one to let the Windows Update auto install the driver , then it will tell u to reboot again when complete.

    7.reboot to normal mode.
Now the resolution become 1366x768,and the yellow mark of the intel chipset disapear , but the G210m still have the yellow mark.

8.install the v302.59 driver from LaptopVideo2Go Community with modified INF overwrited in the driver's Display folder.

    9.reboot after install completed.

Now all the new feature within Opitmus Driver and Physx are working fine . Update completed.

But here I can't install correctly with above steps when now I exchange the Ul30vt's 2.5' 500G Seagate hard disk to a new 750G Seagate hard disk. [5400rpm->7200rpm]

Using the Asus's AI Recovery Software to copy the Asus Win7 to 4 burning DVDs,using these DVDs to resume the Asus Win7 in the new 750G hard disk.
Then I follow the above steps again, when it comes the Step 9. I completed the install operation of v302.59 driver and reboot, going to device manager, the intel chipset and G210m both have yellow mark.

All the step from 1~8 are same as original 500G hard disk.
The only difference is the new Seagate 750G hard disk need to download&install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology software to let the Windows Update work fine , or it will not auto find the driver in step 6.

Try one thing differently. At step six instead of using windows update to get the Intel driver, download it and install it yourself.

Also, you may want to uninstall everything including the Intel, wipe it clean with driver sweeper, and install the original Asus drivers just to start from absolute square one. That should give you the best chance of everything going smoothly.

When using the 197.16 driver found on the 1st page, occasionally when booting up (into discreet graphics), all my desktop icons reset to the left side.

Is there a fix for this or a way to prevent it, and since its been a long time, are these drivers better than the stock?

Weird, I replaced my hard drive with a hybrid from seagate and for the life of me the optimus graphics will not work. Not a single package out there will. I did get it once on the original hard drive.

I tried following all the steps and downloaded the intel driver manually and I get a yelllow exclamation mark on the Nvidia device when I reboot the install. Nvidia settings says no display attached...

I wiped drive and installed drivers from the original asus cd. then followed instructions to a T.

Device manager gives me Code 43, the device has reported problems.

I'm getting the same double exclamation mark as wiserkuo after a reboot. :-( Back to the drivers from the year 2009 for me. I'm on a UL30VT-A1 and Windows 8 x64.

So your're saying ALL you did to modify the latest Optimus driver to work properly on ULX0 laptop was change the inf and add your card? Basically what this guy is thinking you're saying: Latest drivers (3xx) on UL80VT with working Optimus ? - Nautis1100 Hybrid and Optimus Drivers - LaptopVideo2Go Forums ?

That would be AMAZING if it is true!! Can anyone confirm?

Hi! I'm about to test on Asus UL50Vt with Nvidia 326.41 and Intel 15.17.19.2869.

Right now I'm running Asus's lovely ol' 186.88. System Restore is ready to catch me [hopefully].

My video hardware is NVIDIA GeForce G210M and Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family. I'm using Windows 7 x64, latest updates.

    Wish me luck!

EDIT: Failure. I get no Windows Aero, and a choice between 800x600 or 1024x768. It claims that I'm not attached to an NVIDIA display (as many others above are saying), and none of my external display ports work. My display toggling hotkey just keeps saying "LCD Only". System restore worked to bring me back to 186.88.

    Sorry for disappointing results!
