Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
i would say between $1300(low end models) to about $2600(highest end) that is still an awesome price. -
I was wondering when this thread will surface again, that wasn't that much info lately on w90's, guess some moved to discuss new sager.
Anyway still hoping for fast release and good price. -
Do you think Asus will allow for DDR3 instead of DDR2 considering that the x38 chipset supports DDR3?
-
i want to know if some of you guys know the release date oh this monster and a aproximate price for the xfire 4870?
by the way, msi has confirmed that the gt725 is going to be avaiable in the us in march. the reason of the delay were ati bugs. -

Woot 20k easy on a $2k laptop. This is a must have for this years gaming laptop enthusiast!
I'm going to get one! -
-
Thanks, I might actually consider buying a fully speced out beast! Well maybe one with only a single 4870x2
-
It's cards arent actually x2's, it is the same way as the 3870's, Engadget and a few other sites reported it wrong.
-
vinceboiii Animals are friends, not food.
too pricy!
-
so when is this out? and where is the best place to buy it from with the best customer service? I didnt see any news about this laptop at xotic pc, anyone know?
-
and the graphics cards has to be 4870 X2's. Every site is reporting them as X2's. It would make sense with the huge 18.4 frame and high benchmark scores that it is indeed X2's in crossfire. Can anyone please finally clear thisup?

-
That is the GPUs on the middle-right. One is turned 90deg to the other. -
ok why didnt xotic pc say anything about this system on their site or forum? When is this out? I heard on monday.
-
it's already out, check out this thread

WARNING TO ALL please be careful of purchasing the w90 as the owner thread seems to show quite a few ppl with issues with the w90

I bet it's because of the Radeon 4870 and associated stability/driver issues. I remember last year the Clevo M860TU was delayed because of the Radeon 3870, and eventually the 3870 was dropped as a GPU offering.

I wander when will Newegg get some in stcok!!!
-
-
me too.. Either t9600 model from newegg or Q9000 model from Xoticpc..
-
It's a big shame xoticpc doesn't offer the t9600. From what I gather, the much slower clocked quad doesn't help much in games vs a faster clocked dual.

As an owner of an ASUS W90, I completely disagree with you. Early on the W90 apparently had a few bios issues that have been straightened out. There is supposedly yet a newer bios in the works to improve performance even more. I have had absolutely no problems with this wonderful macnine, and I am extremely happy with it. I was one of the lucky ones that got one from Newegg last week. I kept checking Newegg late at night and very early in the morning, and there happend to be a few there, so I nabbed it. If anyone is looking to buy one of these killer machines, check the egg early in the a.m. and xoticpc will have the quad core version with blu-ray, and 2x 320gig HD's on March 30-31st., I got the info from Justin at xoticpc. -

Had mine now for 20 days and had 0 problems so far
I am looking to add the 2nd hard drive and was amazed at the 320GB prices at Newegg. $59 for a 7,200rpm notebook drive. I paid over $200 a year ago for a 250GB.
Do you happen to know off hand what brand the internal 320GB drive is? -

It is no shock that an initial release of a newly designed product with new GPUs (kinda heh) hit a few hiccups. It happens. I applaud those who had the cojones to pony up and order upon release (Poor Striker
).
The recent batches seem fine. It is just an issue now of getting a chance to see what the M98 and D900F and other GTX280M based systems bring to the plate.
W90Vp @ $2200-2500 is a beast and a good price. -

Greetings I am thinking about purchasing a W90 the only question I have is weather to upgrade the CPU?
The choices seem to be as follows:
Intel® Q9000 45nm "Montevina" Core2 Quad 2.0GHz w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB - Default
-Intel® T9550 45nm "Montevina" Core2 Duo 2.66GHz w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB 35 watt ( + 382 )
-Intel® P9600 45nm "Montevina" Core2 Duo 2.66GHz w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB 25 watt ( + 417 )
-Intel® T9800 45nm "Montevina" Core2 Duo 2.93GHz w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB 35 watt ( + 612 )
-Intel® Q9100 45nm "Montevina" Core2 Quad 2.26GHz w/12MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB ( + 945 )
-Intel® QX9300 45nm "Montevina" Core2 Quad 2.53GHz w/12MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB ( + 1,147 )
I work as a design engineer using Autodesk Inventor 3D parametric Software
and my son is a Gamer!!! we would be sharing this beauty.
I am trying to get real feedback about how much real performance you would gain by spending and extra $1000.00 for the best processor??? -
I have Alienware m17 with the - Core2 Quad 2.53GHz
But go for the - "Montevina" Core2 Duo 2.93GHz
The Quad Cores are still over priced & not up to the performance
hopeing it will get beter once Windows 7 is here
thats just my opinon

My testing shows even at 2ghz the quad core is maxing out every new game easy, there is little or no gain in any game overclocking the cpu to 2.3ghz via turbo gear because the game is already at max speed or past 60fps with just 2ghz. The only game that has made an exception so far is crysis, but it still managed fully playable frame rate on the q9000.
Once I overclocked it to 2.7ghz it was at full speed for these cards. Crysis is the AMD Crossfire & Quadcore worst case scenario and it still passed. -
...and the quads will see increased performance over the duals in games and applications which are designed to take advantage of it. For example (and just one of many examples), no dual is going to touch even the small 2.0 quad when it comes to 3D design rendering. -

over 40fps in DX9 no slowdown game maxes out easy, and crysis is the worst game for this system as ati crosssfire does not work well with it at all and it does not use a quad core at all.
Id not spend that money for upgrade, my Q9000 has overclocked safely to 2.75ghz and Asus has built in overclock for 2.3ghz. the QX9300 does not have any overclock built in (2% they say but thats nothing) -
I work on Maya for a living. I am wondering if this program will take advantage of the quad core?

does any one live in PERTH? i want to know which shops in PERTH sell the most ASUS laptops and which ones would be receiving the NEW ASUS laptops?
-
Just a heads up to any owners looking to update their video drivers, visit the Asus Owners Lounge and check the W90Vp thread..starts at pg 394 when i ask Vicious to be a test dummy - you'll find the solution.

Quadzilla: Asked the creator of setfsb for our pll code and looked up our pll code for cpu overclocking
ViciousXUSMC: used modified .inf to test drivers, did all the bios modding & flashing, created modified bios for higher gpu overclocks.
It was a joint effort, but I was the one that had to take the leap of faith and very possibly brick my W90 -
I haven't checked this thread for 4 months, until today, when I saw that. Red Dragon, are you serious?I doubt it, but its worth a shot.

I'm very close to buying it but I'm a bit concerned from what I heard that windows 7 would be coming out along with new chipsets to accompany it. How well does this run win7. I've seen an opportunity to buy a computer like this and was always told "Something new and better is going to come out! Just wait for that!" I've been waiting for 4 years now and I've lost my patients.
Would this run windows 7 fine when it were to come out or do I have to wait another 6 months to go back to computer shopping. Please tell me I can get this and I don't have to worry about Windows 7 not working. -
Windows 7 will work just fine on the W90, as with all the current notebooks in the market today. The issue right now is the lack of driver support, but by the time of release, manufactures should have the proper drivers to support Win7
-
I´m considering flying over to the U.S. to buy this beast. When can i pick this up in the stores?
-
I just came......

But SetFSB works and does the same thing, so seems the W90 is fully working in Win 7.
Though I did not try everything, I know the main stuff worked, hot keys, video drivers, sound drivers, etc.
I have not used Win 7 enough to like it more than Vista so far, the strange taskbar behavior is going to take some gettng used too, and my game benchmarks were getting slightly lower scores in Win 7 when I expected higher. Though I have reason to think maybe I was only using 1 card and not crossfire so I will have to revisit this soon when I get my new W90 and I will install the 7100 RC of Win 7 -
Will the W7 be more touch screen laptops ?
then how will we who dont have touch screen be able to use that ?
