Hey. So, I'm a little confused about the advantage of the i7 processors over the older generation. I'd like to know because I live in Canada and was on the verge of buying a G51VX-RX05, but I was attracted by the screen res. of this model.
If one of my primary uses for the rig is gaming, should I wait till I can purchase the 51J with the i7 model? If so, would you say its worth the extra 500 dollars? -
If purely gaming is your intention and the screen res is an issue, I present the middle ground:

Plus points for being Canadian Conscious.
However, seeing as how that model is really only about 100 dollars less, wouldn't it make more sense to make that investment for the newer generation of processors? -
I though it was 200$ less? but yes, it really is relative. It depends on what games you'd be using it for. Most current games aren't optimized for a quad CPU, and by the time that becomes a trend it might already be time for a new notebook.

newegg.ca no longer has the G51J with the core i7 on their website =(
The price difference between the link EIement posted with the 2.53ghz Core 2 and the Core i7 is $200CAD. -
Just so everyone's clear, this is Asus' policy on the free 1 year accidental damage warranty.
What retailers don’t participate in the program?
Currently Best Buy, Best Buy Canada, Micro Center, and The Source by Circuit City in Canada do not participate. Notebooks bought from these retailers are not covered by the ADW or ASUS 360.
