so I am very happy with my BB model, but I wonder if that 1080P screen is worth it....perhaps they will sell them aftermarket?!

Anyone have any idea if the G51VX-X1A is sold anywhere else besides Newegg? Also, anyone think they will be available again on Newegg?

People who have received G15's with the 1920x1080 screens seem to be satisfied with the tighter resolution. If you have the case I think that $250 is well worth the screen, cpu, bluetooth, and warranty upgrades the X1A provides. The BB model is still a great buy as well.

Not that I have found, and there should be no reason they will not be available soon. Check the website frequently, sometimes they will become available througout the day. I understand the reason for the fluxuations is that when people place their orders the stock is hit so if they have 10 G51s and 10 people place orders then the item will show out of stock. As you may know this is only the starting process, later (hours even a day later if you have not selected "rush processing") they process the payment and if a person is declined or cancels prior to the payment step that laptop is put back in circulation. Thats why you may see the same items go in and out of stock more than once a day; its because prior orders are canceled or have insufficant funds to complete, not that a truck is coming in every few hours to restock just one or two computers.

Good, maybe someone will buy mine ;)

FYI if you have it ordered at the old price and it has not arrived yet Newegg will price adjust. They did it for me anyway since I begged.

Don't think so unless you canceled prior to being charged, once its charged its as good as yours.

Good for the Egg being thoughtful. Maybe they do this for those that have not taken physical possession because those individuals could opt to "decline delivery" and then contact their CC company to reverse charges as no item was recevied. (a lot of hassle to save $50 bucks imo)

Due to my overheat/shutoff problem I was able to get a RMA from newegg. Pretty quick service, but I'm miffed that I won't be able to enjoy the system for as long as the shipping/processing will take.

damn, this is like a race man. I wish I were in US for now. :( Just couldn't do anything except sitting here, crossing my finger and watching the item went out of stock (AGAIN!). That's just painful even more than drag yourself to examination hall without preparing your final.

I can verify that they are price adjusting. I ordered my X1A on Friday and it is to be delivered tomorrow. I just got off the web chat with an agent and he said that I will be credited $50 after the laptop is delivered.

The G50 is able to have a LCD with a higher resolution. There may be some threads that discuss where to get them, not sure which ones exactly.

Well....people have just started receiving the reseller versions so access to those LCD displays would be rare. You'd probably have to wait at least a month or two before people start doing those projects.

$400  that's very expensive for an lcd screen. actually, it's not wuxga 15.4" it's 15.6". the wuxga for 15.4" are not that rare but for the 15.6" is very rare. I don't know if i want to do that kind of upgrade. I would probably gonna stick with my laptop until something else come out that is worth getting.

    2 question:

    1-Is G51VX-X1A quad compatible?
2-I didn't see anywhere in neweggs web site if their G51 have the win 7 free upgrade, any one know?

As of 8/7/2009 (1:27 PM EST) I see G51VX-X1A back on Newegg. I'm gald to see that they are continuously restocking it, considering that I just shipped off my faulty one for a RMA.

BTW, the first review is up on newegg for the X1A-- the customer had to RMA it because the internal speakers suddenly died.

I'm going to hold my rating until I see how one under working order performs. Probably won't give 5 eggs due to an immediate RMA, but If the next one works great then I probably won't do less than 3 eggs.

Fixed it. Note to everyone, if you disable the stupid explosion sound at startup in the bios is disables the speakers entirely, even in Windows. That's some -poor coding right there.

Thanks for the heads-up because I was going to do the same thing (disable explosion) now I will probably deal with it. I do wonder if that person who RMA'd for sound did the same thing you did Madpoet minus your sudden epiphany.

Haha yeah......when I encountered that problem, I like reinstalled my Audio drivers twice before I realized it was the disabling of the POST sound that caused it.

I haven't messed with the POST sound--and I don't intend to, since I find *BOOM* ASUS GAMING SERIES to be endearing--but I think you can lower it, or even switch the POST to something generic.

I see on Xoticpc you can have the G51VX-A1 built with the Intel 5300 Wifi adapter or "some other" no name brand 802.11ABGN adapter.

On Newegg all it says is that it comes with 802.11BGN card.

Can anyone confirm which 802.11 adapter the G51VX laptops from Newegg come with?
    Thanks.

Can anyone clarify the difference in performance between the T9600 2.8 vs the Q9000 2.0 quad core CPU.

I'm really stuck on which model to buy. I'm getting turned off by the low clock speed of the quad core. Can anyone clarify the difference? Is the quad core or dual core better?

If your interested in gaming only I would go for the dual, at that speed you could probally overclock it to over 3.0ghz which is really quite epic for a laptop. By the time most games use quad core (almost none take advantage of it now), the graphics card will be obsolete or barely able to run games on low. However if your buying for certain creative/media software quad would be better.
