I emailed gentechpc, and they told me that the K51AB and K70AB aren't coming because Asus is focusing on "Selling Intel based notebooks" in the US.

Sounds like Intel using its lobbying power.

Im sure it will be released worldwide since Asus announced the existance of K51AB and K70AB, or Asus will lose market share.

there is stil hope for AB series, Asus has not announced the High end intel/Nvidia versions of K50IO and K70IO as well as AB series.

Lobbying is when you use money / other methods to influence a person/company/politician etc's position, such as selling AMD products.

Intel has already been found guilty in other countries.

Only if there was true competition for intel. i hope AMD gains leverage or a appearence of a new competitor in the CPU industry to destroy intels market share. i will never buy a intel product unless the organisation is in true equal competition.

Looks like Allasus.com has the K40IJ-A1, the K40IN-A1, the K50IJ-A1, and the K50IJ-B1. Though it looks like the K50s all only have integrated graphics, and not a dedicated one yet..

I confirmed from a computer dealer of mine in canada/ontario/toronto that the k51ab should be shipping out at the end of this month along with the rest of the k series models.

    Straight from the PCVOnline.com site.

    4. Does pcvonline.com handle international or U.S. orders?
Unfortunately, we are unable to process orders outside of Canada.

Sorry to burst your bubble bro. But since it is coming out at the end of the month for PCVOnline, i expect to see the k series in the U.S. at a similar time from your local retailer.

I will keep you guys updated though as i receive notices from the son of the manager that owns the place.

But what is the price difference?
    The wait I don`t mind.
And I would really need to read a couple review because this really has NO FRILLS,
and lets be honest if preformance isn`t superduperamazingasskickin`and it`s $1000USD or more
I presonally would go for the X5.

The performance will be pretty amazing considering the battery life is probably going to be better than previous models.

Now all we need is the 45nm die shrink to hit the AMD Mobile processors.

Unfortunately I believe the same thing is happening here in Japan.. The only AMD models I have ever seen out here are the really old ones, based on not the Turion ZM or RM processors but even older models.

Nor have I seen any of the new AMD 4xxx series or even the higher end AMD 3xxx series.

I haven't been notified of the price for the k51ab specifically yet Xcon as the cost is influenced by the U.S. currency as well. However with things currently looking as they are, i would assume that the cost of the k51ab will be close to around 1300-1400 Canadian. So lets take the specs of the asus f50sv-a1 and compare it to the specs of the k51ab at pcvonline.com

    ZM-84 vs P8600
    4860 vs gt120m
    320gb 7200rpm vs 320gb 7200rpm
    4gb ddr2 ram vs 4gb ddr2 ram
    15" vs 16"
    1366x768 res vs 1366x768 res
    1.3MP Webcam vs 1.3MP Webcam

Now the f50sv-a1 goes for 1229.95 at pcvonline. Consequently i assume that the p8600&Mobo combo costs more than a zm-84&Mobo combo. next we take into account that the gt120m is significantly cheaper than the 4860. All specs aside, they are about the same so i come to the conclusion that the k51ab should release for about 1300-1400 possibly being closer to $1400.

if you look carefully there is mistakes on the article like "ASUS K04IN" instead of "ASUS K40IN". It only explains on model of the K series (K40IN) nothing more. News is slow for the high end K51AB, K70AB, K50IO, K70IO.

There's also a 4670 model, which should be arround $1000 I guess. Well, I doubt they'll put it much more expensive than the MSI GX620.

$1000 bucks is a little out of my price range, and the more I look at this laptop the less it seems like a gaming laptop and more of a multimedia laptop. Even with the amazing graphics card, the performance should not be all that much better than the X5.
Even without the prices being released the X5 looks like a much better bang for buck deal.
    Only time will tell.

the fact that haven't displayed on their website specs for the k51ab signifies to me that they are in fact changing them. If not, why bother to wait to release the specifications? i'm beginning to think that asus might want to change their top line k series due to the general consensus of the people that certain things need to be included despite the laptop being no frills. Afterall Asus does listen and view opinions on forums and what not.

    Hey!
I love my SAGER, but and it's a little bit impractical to lug around man! :p
And this ASUS model intrigues me, it's smaller, lighter and could potentially be a power house and yes be the perfect "casual" gaming rig. :p
Plus I think I have a problem with laptops, it's some sort of sickness that makes me want to have more laptops.
    I need help ;)
The main thing is I want to see if the 4860 GPU is really all that we think it could be!
    Never had a AMD/ATI laptop.
    YET!

Yea for the most part we just need to wait until they come out with the actual specs of this rig and price before we can make any speculation at all.
After that why will have to sit helpless in what seems to be an endless waiting game :D . Then we should wait out on good long review because there are some things on this laptop that are great for price cutting, but make me think about the performance.
So until then... we are in the waiting game.

The K40-IN is looking very attractive for my needs... I'm a bit concerned about the slower processor, though... I guess it's too new for a review to be out for it yet, hopefully somebody here will get their hands on it.
