I think you mean undervolting. Underclocking would refer to lowering the clock speed.

    Yes, I meant undervolting :p

About the table you refer, it only has the "Cpu Marks" result of Performance Benchmark. The result I sent is the full benchmark result.

    Testing only the cpu @ 1.7 I got 1412 points, and @ 1.9, 1548 points.

I see! Then @ 1.9 according to the cpu benchmarks, brings this on par with a C2D P8600. An i5 U520 scored 1,605, so I think it's safe to assume that if you can stable OC to 2.3, you may get scores that match or exceed the i5 u520 (without turbo).

HmmMmm. Much appreciated for the info Geo!

When overclocking the UL80V laptop, you all might want to try the correct Clock generator (ICS9LR3362CGLF). This let me actually set whatever fsb I want. The other clock generator only sets to 1.9 and then 1.5 when you try to boost the fsb. I got to 2.0 already but wasn't stable. Need faster memory or lower timings to go higher. A bump in vcore would probably overload the cooler so I'm going with 1333 DDR3 with the same cas 7 to keep the timings tight.

To get that clock Gen you will have to get the newest version of Setfsb. To get the newest version of setfsb you have to go to SetFSB_HomePage download the shareware version and donate to get a key to activate the program. Only 500yen (like 6 bucks) and you get complete control over the fsb. Worked for me.

Can anyone help with SPDTool, Got some faster ram that is rated for 1333 7-7-7-20, but showing up at 6-6-6-16. Uses JEDEC timing tables. Is there anyway to switch tfrom JEDEC #1 to JEDEC #2

This is what I thought as well. Obviously there's a reason why you think cas 7 would be a better fit?

as speed or capacity increases, timing decreases or voltage increases for any giving chip

so if you have the same module, running a higher speed, either it's timing must get looser or it's voltage must increase. (If neither you're just super lucky that the chip could do it with the voltage it already had, which means at stock speeds less voltage might suffice).

If your module runs at 6 6 6 16 (which is an odd timing i'd say, 6 6 6 18 or 17 maybe) then just consider yourself lucky?

so did any one try running 1333 ddr and setting the fsb to 333?

I tried on the factory ram and instantly crashed. Right now i walked it up to 322.... seems like 11 more broke it... i'll keep going 1 mhz at a time.

    i ordered 7 7 7 20 1066 ram 8 gb

    now i am thinking maybe i should have gotten 7 7 7 20 1333 4 gb... :(

worst case scenario i'll buy both and bench mark with them :p

there is also 1600 and 1866 but they require intel xmp's so i'd like to know if the spd editor can read xmp's then i'd dump those settings into a jedec...

I'd really like to see some research on capacity vs timing vs bandwidth...

from my experience running 3dmark vantage/06, lowering timing got me better gpu bench marks (even in desktops gpu's will reserve some system ram), and increasing bandwidth of the ram (increasing mhz) improved cpu benchmarks... but didn't effect gpu bench marks. I wonder how changing capacity effects that. I suppose it only matters if you're already running at the saturation. The system wont be turning to pagefile as much... I wish i could justify a ssd in this thing... just seems wrong to buy a hdd that cost as much as the laptop :p

    i get the feeling i would have the best performance with 1333 7 7 7 20 with the fsb set to 333... whichwould give you 2165... with 1600 ram you'd have 2600, a 100% over clock, 1866 , 3032...

I wish we could change our FSB:dram ratio, but i have never seen an app that adjust pll from windows change this ratio, or ram timings on the fly.. i think it has to be set on boot.

I'm going to find/fabricate some heatsinks for the ram, there is actually alot of space inside for some...

The DDR3 i bought states that it runs at 1333 at 7-7-7-20, but I think i will have to raise the DRAM ratio to get that. I download thaiphoon burner and am trying to get that to flash the ram to get the better timings. Looks like the program is reading it at 7-7-7-20 aswell. here is a screenshot of what I'm working with.

These tight timings are messing up my OC, at 7-7-7-20 I was going to take the fsb all the way up to 333 but mow I can't go past 290 or so. FRUSTRATING

The person who claims to have achieved 2.4ghz, had 1333 ram installed.

Also I don't see how it's possible to to get the fsb over 333 with out it blowing up but by all means if you know a way please share :).

OK i managed to get the timings to 7-7-7-20 by flashing the DDR3 speed bin from 1333f to 1066f. I am going to slowly work my way up to 333fsb if I can. Right now I'm at fsb 309 which gives me 2008.6 MHz on setfsb. Running intel burn test I am seeing the highest temp at 70c.

anything higher and it crashed out. My new ram does not support this speed :( Thinking about returning it.

If you go back in the thread and see the images posted by this user, you will see that CPU-Z reports a 8x cpu multiplier, when the SU7300 only has 6.5x... It is one of two things: bug on cpu-z, or engineering sample, and I am sure that it is the first one, because the benchmark results show 12gflops, and that is the same with my [email protected]

8x cpu multiplier is not the bug. The "bug" is in the FSB values. When SU7300 processor enters SLFM, it operates at 8x multiplier @ 100mhz FSB.

I am fairly stable @ 323 fsb with stock ram. 324 seemed stable. It might still be. Not sure. Ever since I put the Gskill ram the machine got quarky. I think i need to reinstall.

Higher than that I got hick ups that would crash the machine.

Is there any way to adjust CPU/Ram/GPU/pll/NB/SB voltage for our laptops?

    2099.6

i had it up to 2125 for a bit :-( it didn't like that a whole lot.

I think once you stat crashing it causes bit rot that leads to more instability even with previously stable clocks. Should be making images before messing around :p

Even if this were the case, the person did say that he received the 1333 ram from the repair guys, as he brought it in for repairs. Just sounded reasonable to assume the ram was a factor since there were no other anecdotes about 1333 ram being installed in anyone's system.

Voltage for CPU, ram, GPU can all be adjusted through software.
    CPU: throttlestop, cpugenie, rmclock
    ram: spdtool,
    gpu: nvidia system tools

What would be the max safe CPU temp before stepping back? TJmax is 105c but I would never want to be near that. What is the max safe temp for the GPU as well?

i dont think the gpu will let it get over 71* it downclocks to 400 after running over 71 for a bit. I want to change that in the bios. 85 is safe

on a cpu, 65-70 on this cooling is fine too. with enough stress, since the cooling is shared, they will both get the same temp no matter what.

I would say around 80-90 degrees would be the good safe limit. The electronics around the CPU and GPU are all rated to operate normally at 105c so 15-25 degrees below that threshold will be perfectly fine.

I will have to do some digging on CPUgenie, if it works the way i think it does it could overclock the system when you launch a game... that would help save power and improve stability...

hi guys.. ive got a UL30VT. i bought a stick of 2gb A data memory ddr3 1333hz thinking it will run well with the stock hynix 2gb 1066 hz. however i keep on getting crashes all the time at boot up and randomly.

my question is without going out and buying another 1066 hz stick is there anyway i can down clock the 1333hz stick. to 1066.

or even clock up the 1066 stick to 1333hz.

you have to buy PAIRED ram, they will be tested to run at exactly the same speed so they will run together.

Mixing and matching will not work.

Anyone know how to change the RAM timings? I have my UL30vt OC'd up to 2.1Ghz but anything higher is unstable. I'm pretty sure loosening the timings from CL7 to CL9 would help as right now, the ram is running close to DDR3-1333 speeds with DDR3-1066 timings. If I could only make the RAM run at its 1333 timings, I think that I could OC this machine higher. Any ideas?

Hi guys! I tried this method on my Asus UX30 which has the same U7300 processor. Instead of it overclocking to 1900, it dropped to 907. Cn anyone teach me how I can overclock my Asus UX30? Please. Thank you very much.

If your UX30 support Turbo 33 technology, first you have OC it to 1.7 GHz,
than you may try with SetFSB.

Before any try with SetFSB, check UX30's Clock Generator type.

Has anybody tried to change the CPU on a ASUS UL80VT? Is it possible to change the CPU to a SU9400. That´s running on 1.4ghz, which makes a plus of 133Mhz including turbo without oc.
