Poor Cal.

Maybe you should get the V6? Is that something you've considered? It's not that much bigger.
Thanks john
What about the heat and the noise?
The bottom, on the right (under the CPU) gets quite warm and it might be uncomfortable to sit the W3 on bare legs for a long period. However, I consider this preferable to a cool computer with a noisy fan. The W3 is relatively quiet. Indeed, a factor in my decision to buy it was an earlier review that indicated that it became quite hot - I dislike noisy fans. There should be an inverse relationship between fan noise (= active heat dissipation) and a hotter computer (= passive heat dissipation through radiation or conduction).

You haven't offered anything of quality to this thread, in any of your incarnations. Your only goal in here is to get people all riled up, you're nothing but a waste of time...I'd bet money that your age explains it all...instead of making accusations and instigating in a negative unproductive way, you could act like everyone else and put your views and questions forth in a respectful PRODUCTIVE way...

What you said means nothing...because you were basing your information on a totally different market...ASUS USA approved those pics, and It's their fault if the product turns out to be the way you LUCKILY guessed it to be. The other version Justin showed us, was basically a treat...it was a demo version he had and thought we might find interesting. He never said that the W3V would look like that, only that it had the potential and COULD look like that. Just because there's a black W5 available in Asia etc. and you see it that way everywhere over there, doesn't mean the North American version will look the same! So your accusations could have just as easily been dead wrong.

When It comes to posting in here, It's not what you say but how you say it that makes you look the way you do. I think It's quite obvious to everyone in here what you share [8D]

    PS to my previous post:

I can confirm that the W3 is much quieter than the Sony S2, I have the two running side-by-side and I can't hear the W3's fan because of the much louder fan noise from the Sony. I note that the W3 has some air vents on the front which pull cool air over the HDD - a sensible arrangement.

I think Asia is the primary market... and North America and Europe are both secondary markets when it comes to ASUS. After all, ASUS is Taiwanese...

Aw man, I'm out of this forum, what, two days... And the internet troll is back. [ :(]

european-techie your comments so far have been pretty useless. Please don't make me regret standing up for the Europeans a few days ago.

You claim to live in France and possess knowledge about the W3s. Now that's great. Why don't you try and redeem yourself by providing some of that info? In other words participate in a constructive manner in here.

I don't know what your agenda is... Being in France (or at least not the US) you can't be a competitor to PROPortable. And c'mon, Justin never claimed he would get special W3's for his company. He said there could be differences between regions.

And what's up with saying the P-M 760 doesn't look like the one at PROPortable? You really think the exterior has anything to do with the CPU in there?

If you somehow work with W3s or just even have one, you have the potential to be helpful in this forum. Don't screw that up by bashing around at everyone else.

Honestly european-techie, what's your problem? Did Justin ever do anything to you? I don't think so... if you have the W3vs over there, great for you. We don't have them here in North America(well, we do NOW...but) so no one knows what they look like. Some ASUS models DO look different in different regions of the world (case and point: M5N)
I don't see the need for you to attack Justin... no one here appreciates your attitude.

You're the jackass who told people I stole your money...... you said you were from canada and then admitted you were a liar.... so whats the point? Now you're a frenchman? What are you? I think I'll make a call and tell you you're waste of space and if you want to make good on your BS claims.... do the following.

Make a new thread and call it "Justin from PROPortable is a liar" .... get it going and post all of your information in there and get them to make it a sticky....

Your a true slimeball..... I'm sure that translates well enough.

I told you once, and I'll tell you again.... IF the W2 "replaces" the W1.... as in Asus won't have a W1 anymore... no more 15.4" ensemble notebooks....

No no.. lets set back.. i don't want to get too technical on you. Bottom line, if the W2 comes out and then a sonoma model of the W1 doesn't come out with a MONTH of the W2....... I will give you a W2... I don't even care if a new W1 comes out a month and a day after the W2... you still win.

I wish I could hand deliver it, but shipping it to you will have to do.

I only just read the last few posts but personally I don't care who started it or what this whole thing is about but it aint for this forum. If you have personal problems with a person, email them directly it is of no use to anyone...it has nothing to do with this topic, which was a really nice one. You left me with 2 choices to lock it or delete all of your posts.... I hate doing both and if I have to keep doing this then I may have to get people bared from this place.

Just to make things clear..... this is NOT the US package... the pictures are of the W3 in the Netherlands.... our package varies, so please understand this.

I've already had a few people call me and ask where their other battery was and why they didn't get the little 128mb flash drive....

It's a good looking machine indeed. How much does it weight? I'm interested in getting one, How much did you pay for your W3V in USD? Everywhere seem to have the same price selling it for about $1869 is there a place to find a cheaper price in the USA region?? Another quick question, is there a black version? THank you! :)

    Hey there all.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm about to buy a W3V and must say thanks to all of you for the excellent info and pics here, so I can tell exactly what I'm getting.

One thing concerns me though, which is the heat. The model I'm getting is the 1.86GHz/400FSB, (not the 533)... so I'm wondering if heat will be less of an issue with mine. What speed is yours running at? Is yours 2+GHz?

Can't stand fan noise at all, but that's just me :) ... if the 1.8GHz will run cooler than yours and have less fan activity, that would be great.

So I'd love to know what speed cpu yours is, so I can get an idea.

    Cheers all!

my cpu is 1.86, and heat is very minor, nothing that you wouldnt expect. I really dont know what all the fuss was about...

    Fan noise is extremely quite.

I really like the computer, but how is Asus when it comes to customer service? Are they like HP where it takes 3 weeks just to get something fixed?
