People need to chill, the final specs hasn't been confirmed yet.

check the pics on page 4, and also there are already pre-orders available with those specs
-
Hi,first of all, sorry about my bad english.
After i read this discussion i really need to register in this forum to say some things. You are so many, how is possible that you don't already know that there are the VZ version with the 650M(version 2Gb ddr3, it should be the ddr5 damn it!!! lol). You only talk and don't do any reasearch? In portugal we are two or three guys that care about this laptop and we already know that. Shame on you!!! lolol. Forget about the VM version, VZ version is all that matters
i don´t know if i can put this here, but... Asus N56VZ-S4086V 15,6" LED - Ordinateur portable à la Fnac -
-
Looks better with a 650m, let's hope it crosses the Atlantic.
-
But this Asus N56 is really much beautiful than clevo(in my opinion of course), and the sound is outstanding compare to any other laptop, so de difference between DDR5 and DDR3 become less important. I´m just waiting to know the prices of them to decide...
P.S. There are two models in the website, one with full HD and another with HD. This is weird, i tought that only will exist Full HD and HD+ resolutions -
i will be getting mine from Taiwan, and thats where all these come from (and a lot cheaper, no taxes and we bargain a lot!), so if asus doesnt satisfy me, something else will
-
N56VZ & N76VZ near the bottom of the list
The link has some specifications also for both models, check it out. -
There are 4 or 5 websites that are alrealdy publiciting the product like this one
Ìîùíûå ìóëüòèìåäèéíûå íîóòáóêè â óíèêàëüíîì äèçàéíå Asus N46, N56, N76 Íîâîñòè è îáçîðû -

the GT 650 will have DDR3. its gonna be a bottleneck. I think i might be going with the Gigabyte P2542G, which is same size, but has a GTX660M with GDDR5

so why not go for the HP then?
-
i dont like HP, the heat and design problems i have seen
-
-
Just made an account, anyways, I am so excited for this notebook. Do you think the computer can play Skyrim on high?
-
-
. welcome and yes it should be able to. my friend plays on high with a 7690m (6770m/gt 555m)
The N56 is actually competition for the Envy line not the dv6, when compared to the Envy line, the N56 matches almost everything but audio, screen (if the issue gets fixed) and graphics. actually the N56 has a number pad so taht gives it some points -
. I also am looking at the gigabyte
-
-
Gigabyte P2542G, has a 660M, which is exactly what i am looking for, 15.6 inch and looks good with that yellow cover
some doesnt like it, but i find it sexy
-
-
btw silverfern, what other ones are you looking into?
my list is
-
well i am not buying HP laptops (heat, design flaws) or any korean made products (that includes phones and TV, anything korean), so HP,LG,Samsung is ruled out. Dell's quality is very bad, i have a friend who has a dell and its been through 2 hard drives in 4 years and also chasis problems, so dell is ruled out for me. Sager looks too nerdy, toshiba i dont know, never tried it. Lenovo all looks the same, so i am left with Gigabyte or Asus or toshiba.
but since i am from taiwan, i have to go with gigabyte or asus (they are brands that started in taiwan), and since Asus is somewhat of a disapointment, my list will only have gigabyte on it! the P2542 has everything i want, so its the obviously winner. Asus will be backup option if i cant get gigabyte for whatever reason. If asus puts in a 650 with GDDR5, i'd take asus because i have experienced their high quality (had two of their laptop in 8 years, both still works)
edit: did a quick search, is the toshiba P855 using a 630M? -
-
the dv6-7017tx has 650 with GDDR5, you could consider that, its also 15.6 inch. but i rather not risk the heat and other problems tha come with HP, since i will be using this for the next 4 years
-
lol like i said in another post, apparently hp has steped up with the heating/cooling problems and the newer gens aren't experiencing it. And I am considering the dv6 its on my list
-
yes i read that, but i rather not risk it until they regain their reputation
-
-
One more thing...if the HP heats with 650M card, imagine how much heat will the P2542 produce....unless is larger or have a super efficient cooler system, but if P2542 have all of this cool stuffs...once again...how much it will cost? It´s a complete different class compare to N56. I think that laptop should be compare with clevo P150EM for example. -
I'll be amazed if the Gigabyte P2542 won't have scorching temps, considering how thin it is.
Asus N56 looks like twice as thick. -
P2542 will have dual (2) cooling vents. Asus N56 only has one, so i believe heat wont be too much of an issue with P2542. It will cost around $1350 in US, probably around $1200 in taiwan (where i am getting from), so i guess its not everyone's notebook

Gigabyte is not THAT thin considering the new Acer timeline ultra has 650M discrete graphics, its way thinner that the Gigabyte and does just fine.
-
are you talking about the acer timline M3? it has 640M i think, with GDDR3, the 660M with GDDR 5 will FAR out perform that. and plust i think it has i3? not sure about that one
-
How is the size of the N6 compared to say the Samsung series 7. I think the series 7 is roughly the limit I can carry around with me
-
they seem similar, both 15.6 inch
-
-
hate is a strong word, but yeah...
-
-
do you guys know when will the ivy bridge hp envy 17s be out?
-
Even though its about the 15, the 17 should be about the same, only difference might be a stronger gpu and/or two hdd slots instead of one -
you can always take out the CD/Blueray drive and put in a HDD
-
-
oh i guess it was the other guy then
-
i think for those who thinks asus will use ddr3 vram on n56vz gt650m. i think it is still rumours. but asus won't lose to hp easily. since hp already got bad reputation. and some says it was almost faced to bankruptcy. so i think asus should be more competitive in giving specs. if i can says. hehe
-
It used the 9650m DDR2 (instead GDDR3) on the M50Vm, and they have used the DDR3 version of the 555m in the N55 instead the GDDR5 version, so, sadly, there are not many reasons to think they will use the GDDR5 version of the 650m -
Is not rumors, they are already being seeling in some websites, or at least pre-order like this one. Open "Produktinformation" (third tab above the image) and you can see for youself.
Google Tradutor
I don´t know why but i can't put the direct link, so you should open ASUS N56VZ S4026V first
But maybe they will make some models with ddr5, i really doubt, but it´s possible. -
Release date and price for N6 Series?!
