well i can say that the spec of this model still to be doubted since
the real one haven't available yet. so in this case we just need to pray instead of worrying it. hehe -
the spcs seem very bad on this one. only 6 gb of ram and a 5400rpm hard drive
-
Is there going to be a 17inch model>
-
dont think there will be a 17inch model for the gigabyte.
If they do put in a DDR5 650 or even a 660 in the N56, then how will they sell their flagship gaming machine? the G75? they put in a bad video card in the N56 in hopes they will be able to sell more of G75 -
yo silver do u know if u can get extended warrenty from gigabyte products? I think they give 2 year warrenty, but my university kinda requires atleast a 3 year accidental damage warrenty i think
-
Lol, i have the exact same discussion in Portugal two weeks ago, and i completly agree with you, if they put a great card in the N56, obviously the people buy N56 instead of ROG. They can put a ddr5 in n56 model? yes.... but if they do that, almost nobody will buy G75 ROG...
-
i have no idea, but why would a university require you to have any kind of warranty? are you using university funds to buy the laptop?
-
lol actually i believe I am, Idk the whole process but they basically giving me 1.5k$ to buy a laptop
. But I dont think they are required but they strongly recommend it lol and since the gigabyte is projected to be around 1.3k (i think) i got 200$ to add on to it
-
from my experience, if a computer works for 2 years without any major problems, then it will go on for like 6+ years, that is, if you dont mistreat it. my first laptop no problem at all (other from the willful damage i did do it), my second laptop, only a faulty RAM, and a bit more willful damage on the chasis. also,i leave my computer running for around 23 hours a day, and this one is still going strong after almost 4 years, thats why i love asus so much, but unfortunate they have disappointed this time

any idea if this laptop will have widi? its a feature i would like to see included.

That's probably what they thought. The bad news for Mr Asus is that if they were living in the real world they would worry about the outside competition, not the inside. I don't care about their brand and I don't think their laptops have any significant advantage over what other manufacturers will have in store (in fact I think the design of the new N6x is tacky, mainly because of those horrid speakers). If they opt for such an unfortunate choice I'll simply buy from Dell or HP instead. And I suspect many people think the same way and I'm not surprized that Asus is losing market share with that level of understanding and concern for their customers.
And I would even be glad to have another reason to go down that path as I don't like where Asus has been going for the past 18 months. Their build quality / customer support advantage has vanished from what I gathered and as to their recent releases in the multimedia segment it's like they're aiming for perfectly dull, average notebooks and are content with it.
Cheap, heavy, thick cases, crappy keyboards, dim-looking screens, as the competition, but absolutely no efforts to bring forth any trump cards (customization, above average GPU, more attractive design, backlit keyboard...). Unlike most of their competitors who are clearly seeking ways to differentiate. That and the fact that they still have no plans for a premium line of multimedia like HP's envy or Samsung's Chronos has progressively made me think of Asus as a synonym for "pure follower with no vision nor taste for innovation."
Or maybe they simply don't put as much effort as they used to in their recent multimedia notebooks because they believe this segment is doomed while ultrabooks are the future, that'd be more logical. -
i totally agree. i was an staunch asus fan, but now they just pushed me right into the arms of gigabyte. i am not sure about design and quality for the past few years (my current laptop is from 2008, from asus, quality is good).
-
I´m an Asus fan too, but in my case is more complicated, i´m from Spain and there are not Gigabyte laptops here, there are neither Clevos, and Msi brings very few models to Spain, normally they bring the GT series, but not the Ge series.
So there are few options lefts in my country
Dell is not an option since the cooling of the XPS series is pretty bad
I don´t like Hp quality, is a shame because they have very good laptops with the 6770m and are going to launch new series with de 650m GDDR5
Toshiba don´t bring gamer or event "good" models to Spain
So the only option is Asus or save enough money to buy a Alienware or MSI Gt series -
try ebay, there are always sellers there. I buy my laptop in taiwan, where there is every possible selection you can think of
-
This is kind of off topic, but is it awkward to game on a 15.6 inch screen?
-
i feel its fine on my 14 inch, so 15.6 should be even better, but you sacrifice some portability
-
whats ur 14 inch
-
asus F8SP..
-
Not exactly. The one with DDR3 has more CUDA core than the GDDR5 version, so the performance of DDR3 should be better.
-
No, both have 144 cuda cores, the only version that has less cuda cores (96) is the one that have Lenovo

Heat issues can be related to the thinness of the notebook. Even with multiple heatsinks and moderate CPU/GPU temperatures, the surface/bottom of a notebook can get uncomfortably warm. It may not be a concern with the Gigabyte P2542G though, since the heatsinks appear to large.
-
What other IB Asus laptops are coming out this year with a decent dedicated graphics card inside?
-
the G series, but those things are huge...not sure about the other ones, but they should have ultrabooks with dedicated GPU right?
-
they got zenbooks but no dgpu
-
Might have to look elsewhere then
-
man, I wish this notebook had the gtx 660m. That would make this perfect.
-
I hope they end up releasing a model with that card, I just love this computer and how it looks and stuff.
-
They can't do that because the GTX line of graphics cards go into their gaming laptops. Also, they can't really put a really high end, GTX, card into a thin laptop because it will cause too much heat, which is why gaming laptops are so thick and bulky.
-
the Gigabyte P2542G looks a lot thinner than the asus n56. It has a gtx660.
-
but it also got 2 heatsink with 2 different vents
-
Sears will be selling the VZ model . Sears: Online department store featuring appliances, tools, fitness equipment and more
a
It's bundled with an external subwoofer like the N55. No official date of release yet. -
what gpu will it have i wonder
-
VZ models have the 650 with DDR3
also says 2G RAM, looks like whoever wrote the listing had no idea what he or she was saying -
lol yeah true. silver do u have any updates on the gigabyte?
-
nop, i google it everyday, but still same stuff released back in march
-
haha sadly i have been doing the same thing
some random video said that they will be released in may for around $1350 usd. Nothing about backlit keyboards :S
-
i have seen one that said price tag would be around 1100, but i think most said 1350, which i dont mind for a quality product. i dont care too much about the backlit keyboard, it would be nice to have, but it wasnt even on my mind until you mentioned it
-
ill prefer and probably be doing most of the stuff in dark/near dark situations so i would like to have it. but im willing to turn on a light
-
i feel if you use the computer for a certain period of time, your hand memorize the keyboard. i can do pretty much everything in the dark as long as my two index fingers are in F and J
-
i must admit ilearned typing from gaming and my left hand fingers are always centered on the awsd keys :S prolly should learn the regular way of typing hahaha -
Is there ever going to be a gddr5 version of the card???
-
of the card, yes its going to come in the hp dv6/dv7 however, not in asus for what we have heard
-
Howitzer225 Death Company Dreadnought
Looks like there's going to be two flavors of the N46:
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Search -
there are two flavours for all 3 size
-
do you think later on, (3-4 months after release date), they will have more versions??
-
they might, if they put the 680m in the G series, they may consider putting 650 with GDDR5 or 660 in the N56
-
itsfuntodobadthings Notebook Enthusiast
Good news! Just emailed GenTech to see if they will carry N56.
-
I will probably get the n76 vz and put a ssd in it. Or the g75... even though the sound is going to suck
-
Its a shame because the gddr5 version of the gt650m could be such a good card according to the specs.
Release date and price for N6 Series?!
