same model here, the n56vs-ds71, but this site lists it as DDR3 so...

I asked, and they didn't have a date.
-
Gentech said they'll start shipping it this week IIRC.
On another note Xoticpc relied to my enquiry and states that the N76VZ comes with DDR5...
this is such a back and forth trip... -

Any news on the N46? I'm in the market for 14" laptop right now and very interested in the new N series.
-
This is weird, in their website they listed N76VZ with GT650M DDR3, and N56VZ with GT650M GDDR5. But they are the only ones(that i saw) that are listing asus NX6VZ with GDDR5. I think they probably are mistaken. Anyone can confirm the information?
-
Probably a typo. Everyone else has GDDR3.
What's turning me off about this laptop is the weight. 6 lbs seems like a lot considering it looks like competitors will be coming in .5-.75 lbs lighter. -
Im dissapointed at the gddr3, if they have a gddr5 version, I will buy it asap.
-
Same.
But I have a question: is the G55 ROG overpriced?
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2 -
so it's GDDR3 ..
?
-
what is it at right now? if above like 1300-1500 then yeah. you can buy a sager with much better gfx and screen and other options for the same p[rice
-
and yes its gddr3
-
I think the G55 is near 1500 with only a 660m GPU...
I'm having trouble specing out a P150em around 1300 though. Xotic has the best discounts and free shipping, but I live in Nebraska so that's an extra 7% tax. All the other resellers don't have free shipping and that adds quite a bit.

well it depends on what type of card you want to get. if you were looking to spend as much as you were for the g55, (a g55 with 95% screen is $1429.78) where as a p150em with same sscreen, 3610qm and 7970m is $1565.58 alittle more than $100 for 3x the gpu performance, much less weight/bulkiness (2.5 lbs), and probably more battery life. I personally would pitch in the $100 more if you were considering the g55 in the beginning but if your budget is 1300 then both comps are out of your range

I called xotic as well and was told that to their knowledge the machine will come with GDDR5
-
It's just not possible that they are the only ones with that version
-
I have same doubts. Its just not possible.

Yes very strange but would be awesome if it did come with GDDR5, especially since I already pre-ordered mine!
I just did some minor upgrades:
12gig RAM, Thermal compound, SSD and different wifi card w/ WIDI.
Altogether it was $1552 with discounts.
PS. Free advice: If you own a business in the US, 2012 is the last year you can deduct 100% of certain assets, such as computers, on your taxes instead of depreciating it over 5 years. So go ahead and buy the $1500 laptop you always wanted
-
I took 8GB DDR3, 15.6" fullHD version with 750GB HDD. No further upgrades.
Any info when they come to warehouses? Amazon doesnt set the date, but i should get email as soon as they arrive to them.
Im amazed how good this laptop looks. And the price is just very competitive as well. I couldnt get Clevo W150 with a same price with identical hardware.
Asus looks way better and is way thinner. Just perfect for my little brothers needs. -
whats the graphics card?
-
itsfuntodobadthings Notebook Enthusiast
On their website they say Nvidia GT650 w 2GB GDDR5 but everywhere else says DDR3. We'll see, but according to this forum the difference isnt too substantial.
-
Graphics is pretty much as good as it gets for a laptop this thin.
Perhaps only AMD HD 7770M would have been my first choice. -
i asked the tech guy to check if its GDDR5 or ddr3, he will email me when he finds out, but from what he said, they just reference it from notebookcheck.com, which says both DDR5 and DRR3, so i am guessing they just took the higher one, since all the other site lists ASUS N56VZ-DS71 as DRR3
-
And do you want to have children ? JK thin + powers = not so good.

Lol. Im not sure if i got what you meant with this?

It gets hott

i doubt im ever going to game with laptop on my lap. So no worries here.
-
They emailed me, they said its ddr3 not 5, they changed it on their site I think
-
I knew it. That actually kind of pisses me off. The decision point for a lot of people was the gddr3 vs gddr5 and now they've probably swindled a bunch of people into the pre order with that typo...
-
It's actually not their fault entirely, it was obvious that they are the only one out of ten twenty listing that.
Sent from my wholly molly new iPad using Tapatalk -
the asus isnt that thin that they cant put a better card in there
-
I agree, it's thin but not thattt thin as it looks in the photos or videos. The black plastic part tricks a lot lol.
-
No news on the 14inch?

There will be two variants of the N46:
N46VZ-Ivy Bridge CPU + Nvidia GT650M
M46VM-Ivy Bridge CPU + Nvidia GT630M
They're already out at some Eastern European retailers. -
Thanks, I guess we should see it soon in U.S retailers, is the display going be hi-res?
-
yeah these have great looks but wayy too thick for that kind of performance... its performance over looks for me
-
Do we have anymore information on this? Screen resolution etc etc.
Seems to be a great all around laptop. Definitely comparable to HP's Envy series in my eyes.
As I say in nearly every post on here, though, is that I wish these would come with a Thunderbolt port. When eGPUs take off I want a laptop to take advantage of it. Especially one with a metal case, full voltage processor, and a WINDOWS machine. -
Komplett.no - ASUS N56VZ 15.6" Full HD
The N56 is pegged for a 16th May launch on Komplett.no
ASUS N76VZ 17.3" Full HD
9th of May for the N76
Exchange rate works out at about €1300 I guess. -
Howitzer225 Death Company Dreadnought
From the specs I've seen on retailers, the resolution is your standard 1366*768 fare.
The display is matte though.
The laptop with its design and specs makes it an enticing Envy contender. I don't know about Thunderbolt otherwise being present on Macs but perhaps Intel will standardize it in the future ala Vaio Z lightpeak.
Shops list it with varying specs but from what I've seen there's DDR3 1600MHZ, 1TB/750GB(7200&5400RPM), 7-in-1 card reader, 1MP Camera on board. -
envy is still thinner and the card they are predicted to put in it should be better than gt 650m ddr
-
how much does this weight? It doesn't look that thick.
-
listed at 6lbs and 1.3 in thick. really wish they could have brought it down to 1.1 to match the envy.
-
Dam that is thick...I guess I am have to wait and see when its release whether or not I should buy this.
-
Are the specs people are talking about for the 14" version, though? Yes, I love the Envys but a 650m in a 14" form factor would be amazing. Not to mention I much prefer Optimus compared to ATI's solution. Especially since ATI's solution is in its infancy.
But, again, I just want a "sexy" laptop with THUNDERBOLT that isn't a damn Ultrabook. Asus said back in January they were going to make the Thunderbolt part happen. I guess I just have to keep waiting.. -
Howitzer225 Death Company Dreadnought
If thickness means a better cooling system, by all means I'm up for it.
GT650M is perfect for its size (At least for the N46). Any higher and it would compete with ASUS' own G series. -
wait the N46 will have 650m? will have fhd screen tho
-
Howitzer225 Death Company Dreadnought
N46VZ, from the online listings I've seen. -
I think N46 only has 1366x768 resolution. Full hd maybe it's to much for 14' (people always complain that full hd in 15'6 make things very small, imagine in 14'). But i think that hd+(1600x900) will be perfect for N46
Release date and price for N6 Series?!
