There was an interview with the moduslink people and they said they were waiting on the discs from the OEMs. They don't actually hold stock of the upgrade DVDs, they are waiting on them from Asus.

for those who are in canada, and recently got your shipment, dont feel so happy yet, cause i got mine a month ago, ups came to my door, gave me a package, signed for it, and i thought all was good... until today.
i get home, and what do i see in the mail? a letter from UPS, i open it, its a request that i pay customs broker fees... to a total of $21.02
so apperently moduslink put down my shipping costs as the packages net value... so your customs broker fees will be based on that, cause i got mine via HP, so it cost me 19.95 to ship... so watch your mail, and hope you dont come home to a nice letter from UPS asking for more money... can they even make u pay tax on shipping costs???
any suggestions to dispute these? ill pay the duties, not the custom broker fees... the taxs come out to like 5 bucks.... everything else is broker fees... which is outrageous, 15 bucks for some person to sign it off... -
My first order was cancelled and i called them on 10 of May
and today is 16 of May and i received an email from Moduslink
guess what? my order has been shipped!! So damn xxxx happy
anyway for those who haven't received their upgrade pack please keep calling Moduslink i'm sure it helps a lot! cheers -
WTF I swear am I the person they decided to pick on? X_X
-
I called them on Monday, actually was immediately connected to a real person. Dialed the toll free North American number pressed 1 for english, then 5 and 8. The dude checked the computer for a minute or 2 and told me that the delay is due to oem manufacturers not providing enough copies of the software.
Also said my order was due to ship next week.
Good thing for W3J owners in Canada?
Glad to hear you got your copy Ken. Anticipation makes it just so much sweeter doesn't it? haha... but the stress it caused outweighs the anticipation excitement...
Bluemage, I doubt they're picking on you on purpose. Perhaps you entered information inconsistent with the information your credit card company has about you. It happened to me recently on an online order, I had entered my cell phone number instead of my land line and the order was put on hold. -
Here's a challenge for you guys.
I have a A6va-Q0016H which means there's a X700 VGA card in it. When upgrading to Vista, the MicroSoft drivers runs Aero fine! But games give me like 10 FPS. Installing the Asus windows XP drivers gives me much better results, but no Aero interface! Very annoying.
So here we go.. Online to support forums, Omega Mobility drivers, DHmodders, Tweakers and cross platform drivers all come with the same result: Reboot during startup. Back to safe mode, roll back drivers: Works... Bugger!
I have tried:
* MS Driver --> Aero works, Games don't
* Asus driver --> Aero doesn't work, Games do
* DH Modded Catalyst 7.4 drivers --> Nothing works
* Omega mobility drivers --> Nothing works
* Cross platform drivers --> Where's my hammer?
* Tweaked drivers for mobility --> Thats it! This means war!
This guide gives me some hope, but no results, as the drivers posted in the TopicStart don't work either.
Any hope for the laptop and Vista??? -
RobXP...
Anytime, well almost anytime, you install new drivers or hardware you'll need to let Vista rate your computer again. Check 'Welcome Center ->Show More Details' and make sure that your computer's performance is rated. If it hasn't been, as after you install new video drivers, the Aero Interface won't be available. Just go to 'Performance' and let Vista refresh your 'Windows Experience Index'
HTH -
Thanks for the tip, but that resulted in a Blue-screen-of-Death (good to see that MicroSoft kept to something that you can rely on
).
Any other users that have the A6va running on Vista? -
Please don't hijack the thread. Start a new one and you'll get more responses.
-
finally got mine!!! yeah!!
good luck if you haven't get urs -
guys i have windows vista home basic...

Now am waiting. ummm think ill give them a call. somehow don't trust website to tell me my order status.

Dear Asus/Moduslink,
Express upgrade communique Part DCLXIII:
Where the #@^% is my @#$^ express upgrade?!?
sincerely,
disgruntled USA customer 45633, STILL on 'order approved' forever. -
Basically generally avoid Basic. -
I'm tempted to go and get a Vista Ultimate retail just to play Halo 2 for Vista tomorrow.
At the very least, if it's retail you can transfer it to another computer when you get your actual upgrade...
-
Still don't have Vista though. -
i received my copy of Vista Business.
Havent installed it yet. Will do when games runs proper.
-
Anyone in the USA receive their Vista Upgrade Yet? And if you have, what model ASUS do you own?
i just realised something! Moduslink should also provide us the window vista badge to stick on our notebook!!
-
I'm here in Macon, GA
and just received an email saying it's shipped. The funny thing about the email is this:
But anyways I guess I'll see if it arrives within the said "3 weeks" (where the hell are they shipping it from anyways? China?!) -
Mine just shipped too with that same "3 weeks" message. It says it was mailed "Mail Express"... whatever that is.
-
Still waiting on mine... i was told it would ship this week but it's saturday already and no email or website update.
I hate moduslink and their lies. -
I'm on week 12 at "Order Approved". I don't know how the BBB hasn't gotten involved in this.
-
Just wanted to let you know that my order has shipped. I'm in the US. I was one of the guys that picked 64bit and had to resubmit. My POP was validated on April 9th.
The email is screwed up though. I received the email this morning and here's the text.
Edit: So I replied to that email and inquired about time travel. Their new response was essentially to expect 4 to 6 weeks for delivery and contact them if there are any problems. Time travel not required. -
I also got an email today that said it has shipped. I'm in the US and have an A8JS.
-
Got my free Vista Business upgrade yesterday for my Asus F3Ja. It installed with no problems and everything works great.
-
I also got the email of it being shipped today. For those who have gotten it, is it an oem copy or is it in a retail box? And is it allowed for resale?
-
Wonder how many people still have not got their express upgrade. it's been almost 7 months since this promotion started and 4 months after Vista's general availability.
p.s. I'm very happy with my Vista Business. Switched to the 64bit version 3 weeks ago w/ express upgrade key and ever since it's so stable. Not being able to get 64bit during express upgrade? Get the 32bit key then hook a 64bit media from any people you know they have and install. -
I was also told the delay was due to the fact of cd shortages, more are supposed to come in soon, im still waiting on mine.

Still havent got mine yet. Im in the US, and submitted my order a long long time ago since the start of the program.
-
I have not place my order for the "Vista Express Upgrade" because I'm waiting for the SP1 to be integrated at the end of year. Can I hold on to it? Will it expire on me?
Thanks for the information! -
-
mine has finally shipped today. im in toronto.
-
I just received mine too, here in NJ, USA. Start checking your mail everyone, hopefully they've finally started mailing them out!
BTW I never received a single email from Moduslink, no status, no shipment notification, nothing. Ah well, can't complain I guess. -
got mine today too. in nj as well.
-
Received my email yesterday, finally!
FYI, it's Vista Business 32-bit for a W3J and I live in Canada.
Seems alot of people also got their shipped emails the last week. Asus must have finally sent Moduslink the software... ABOUT TIME! -
Well, my credit card was just charged for the order, but it still says order approved and I have received no email yet. I guess it has shipped and they just haven't sent out an email confirmation yet.
That being said, is the upgrade tied to an Asus product (similar to the way the backup/restore DVD operates)? I ask because I recently sold my Asus A8JP and bought a cheaper desktop computer. I also purchased one of the brand new Samsung Q1 Ultra's to replace my A8JP on the road.
Will I be able to use the upgrade on any computer? -
-
Unfortunately I still have yet to receive my Vista disk for it. You could probably get more for it if it includes vista. -
. I just might try to put it out there just to see how much I can get.
As for the "transferability" of the upgrade, it's hard to say. The upgrade disc itself has the Asus logos all over it, and it says "For use only as an upgrade to a qualifying ASUS PC". It does however have a product key (OEM I'm assuming) so you never know. -
I got my Vista upgrade today. It took 3 months, 2.5 months of order approved.
NJ, USA.
seems like they just got to sending our discs here in NJ. several people above reporting they received theirs as well
question: i'm sure it's been answered somewhere buried in this thread but... can this "Windows Vista Home Premium Express Upgrade" dvd be used for a clean install? or is it just upgrade from XP only cuz i already deleted my backup partition -
i did the following (read it somewhere, couldn't find it, but it worked):
installed without the product key and without connecting a lan cable
once inside vista, i installed again (upgrade) with the product key
after all was done, i installed the drivers, then connected to the internet
seems to be working fine -
I got mine yesterday (finally). The upgrade page still has me at order approved haha.
Either way, I rebooted with the disc, did a clean install, installed the video drivers, re-did the Aero eval (scored a 4.4), and now I'm good to go! -
I got mine today. Don't think I'll be installing till a couple of months, when I get a 2 gig stick. I also got charged twice, how gay is that? Apparently they didn't cancel my first order which had my old address, so they sent it twice, to my old address and the correct address. Thats how disorganized they were.
-
I'm in Chicago and still waiting for my copy...
I got the order shipment info couple days ago and they charged my CC so it better gets here soon
moduslink really sucks ! WORST company ever -
Got mine today as well - It's about time!

Anyone actually use there Update yet?
If so how did it go, did you keep all your software or do you have to reinstall. What about word doc and files, did these carry across?
Also how has it affected your system?
Thanks -
~ Brett
P.S. - Just in case, I would back up anything important or clone your HD before going through with it, though I've heard the process is fairly smooth and snag-free.
