I would go with the Asus based on build quality and warranty coverage is superior to any other company ( 2 year warranty and 1 yr accidental)

    I literally cannot wait.

I live not too far from Pt. Roberts, Wa. I can have it shipped there and pick it up in a jiffy.

But I'm torn between this Asus and HP DM3 as I just found out DM3 now has ATI HD4330 configuration as well. Plus it is a 13inch screen with 800 resolution (I know it's only 32 more lines...but more is more :p )

HP DM3 shows up on Amazon Canada, but they do not have an ATI4330 configuration. (yet?)
It's not even on the HP Canada site yet. When I was shopping and looking at a DV2 they only offered single core versions whereas US HP would offer dual core config. I hope HP Canada will offer 4330.

It's a good time to be laptop shopping now.

I think the Asus is the better deal. More battery life, turbo option, switchable GPU's, and an integrated DVD+RW

If the HD4570 is the same as/similar to the ones found in desktops, then yeah, they're pretty weak. They're pretty much only suitable for HTPC use and some very light gaming.

The 9600GT is better for gaming and if my assumption that the 9600M is the mobile equivalent is correct, then it stands to reason that the 9600M would be better than the HD4570 for gaming. The card that would be around the same class as the 9600GT is the HD4650/70.

Unfortunately Nvidia don't have as close parities with their Desktop cards and their Mobile cards. I don't think the 9600m is based on the 9600gt, and in notebooks the ATI 4650 is far more powerful - probably 30-40% better - than the 9600m, the same sort of level if not a little higher than the Nvidia 240m i believe.

I think the G210m will be acceptable for light-gaming - it is possible for people to enjoy games without eye-candy turned on max, think what it says about you if you're only willing to play a FPS if it looks like you are killing real people...

If I can find one at an acceptable price, I'll jump on it. This'll be like the ultimate convertible of laptops - it is light and portable with insane battery life when you want it, yet reasonable computing power and/or graphics power when you want that (and still reasonable battery life 5+hours when you do that) - it's like having my cake and eating it... just at 720p resolution rather than full hd.

how does the AMD Athlon Neo Dual-Core L335 Processor compare to the 1.3GHz Intel SU7300 Core 2 Duo Processor in terms of performance and power usage/battery life? basically, which is better.

Intel is going to have better battery life. As far as performance, need spec on the AMD chip.

Who here has already got one of these pre-ordered with one day shipping (raises hand).

Est. delivery date is Oct. 23rd. I'm so excited, can't wait.

If there's any special requests hit me up, unless of course one of you pro's out there has a review already in place and set up for this weekend.

I am excited for you clockwork. What we would all like is:

    1. Unboxing photos.
    2. Review of weight, specs, design, and build quality.
    3. Benchmarks.

I think what alot of people are curious about is the battery life claims, the SU7300 performance, the 210M performance, and VT mode. I am hoping somehow a backlit keyboard secretly made it onto the UL.

Just got her in and she's a beauty.

I'll put some things up later tonight or tomorrow.

Here are some quick bits of info so far:
    1. Thin and light...i'm in love.
    2. Sound quality is far more than what i was expecting.
    3. The switch from integrated to discreet is smooth with a half second blank screen. Quick and painless, i'm hoping it stays that way.
    4. I love the keyboard, solid and the keys aren't too firm.

    To be continued...

I saw a 3300 in 3dmark06 (probably 1280x720). My C90S gets arround 3500 for instance. The SU7300 is far more powerful than I thought. It's smilar to the T6xxx

You mentioned that you ordered from amazon and chose one day shipping a few post back. I did that too and was supposed to get it by the 23rd but up till now it says that the item is still in preorder stages and they do not have any in stock.

How did you get yours so fast? I am crossing my fingers that I can at least get mine by next week.

3dmark06 score with the 210? Do we know if the 210M works along side the 4500M when it processing the graphics? (Like in the MBP with 9600M and 9400M working together for a little performance boost to the 9600..)

Could we get a Crysis benchmark as well?

I think Amazon really botched this one. I preordered the UL80vt as well and was very confused when I saw the change on the product page. I contacted amazon yesterday and they got back to me today

    "Hello,

I'm sorry for any misunderstanding and inconvenience.

When you have placed this order we have expected to ship your package by October 26,2009 not 22,2009. But as the release date of the item is not yet confirmed, we will not be able to ship your order.

As you probably know, we rely on our suppliers and manufacturers information regarding the availability of the items.

I've checked and see that the item currently listed as "This item has not yet been released. " on our website.

However, I see that you have canceled the order.

We look forward to see you again."

It sounds like they ran out of laptops to ship out and didn't bother to stop taking preorders. I say that because someone here is reporting that they already received one from amazon. Well, I say if you want to get this laptop cancel your order from amazon and go to either Buy.com or newegg.com. I canceled my order with amazon this morning and placed an order with Buy.com and they just sent me shipping confirmation/tracking info and that it shipped with a target arrival of the 29th(I got 3-5 business day ground shipping). I ended up paying 820 something so as long as it arrives by the 29th I have no regrets canceling my amazon order.

How badly does the inside plastic area get fingerprints? Does the UL80VT have a lot of keyboard flex? What do you think of the keyboard?

How well does the multi-touch 2-finger scroll functions work? I really want that to work excellently. How about the other multitouch functions?

Can you post any gaming results? I'm curious to know how powerful the 4330 is compared to the 210M?

Well I sell the UL50 where I work, and the black brushed alluminum is pretty nice, I have to admit. Since the UL80 looks identical, just without the numpad, assuming it looks the same I would have no regrets on color.

Wow, that review was AWESOME!!! I just ordered my UL80VT-A1 from xoticpc.com $819 with free UPS Ground shipping...

The UL80VT-A1 is just the laptop I am looking for... :)

12.8 hours of battery life while idle and 8.85 with full on power consumption... wow!

And the 3DMark06 score of 3460 is fantastic!! That will play so many current titles on Med/High settings at the native resolution... simply fantastic!! :) I had a 8600GT in a MBP and I only got 3900 with that... so this is just barely below that... HOLY COW!

The only things I wish the UL80VT had was a completely aluminum body and back-lit keyboard.... but I can live without those for this kind of fantastic performance on the road and on when it's plugged in... WOW>>>> Rockzors!!

Hey Quadron, that review is better than you may seem.

The review was with the UL80VT.. Overclocked to 1.7Ghz and it still hit almost 13 hours on idle, and almost 9 hours on continuous, stressful web surfing. Epic. I'm glad I got one on the way!

Missed out the Buy.com eBay Store + Bing CB which makes it $759, shipped, for the UL80Vt-A1... We'll see if they get some more in. Now they just put up the UL50Vt-A1 (15.6" 1366x768) which is about $762 after Bing CB...

Wonder how long it'll last: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380171387369

    Cheers,
