The last posts didn't spell it out.. I'm sorry... but I've already made this clear days ago anyway........ I'm trying to simplify the process and doing this while allowing some other discount would only complicate it.
... and as I said.. right now I don't know what I'm going do - but it looks like some sort of stock coupon.. that way there will be no adjusting needed on my side and like I said... based on the number of orders in before the order was cancelled...... if I didn't change that process it would have taken longer to process the orders than it did to accept them, and that's no way to make things go quickly upon release.

And... that timeline can be changed if little things can be altered... like a dedicated coupon... instead of one person's order getting $30 taken off for shipping.. and this guy getting $75 for this discount... etc... -
I see you updated the Config for the W3J on your site. I see the processor is 1.83 and it has a dual layer DVD burner instead of a super multi and the price is 1849$. Of course nothing is in solid stone till Asus solidifies the config and gives the go ahead for Production.
-
First, a disclaimer: I'm not intentionally trying to look a gift horse in the mouth ('cause a $50 coupon or free 2nd day will help me out, since the more I'm over the wife's budget the more I'm in the doghouse) but I just want to make sure that I'm seeing the "big picture."
It amazes me that with the clamor for an item such as the W3J that a business / company / reseller would actually offer a coupon. I think it is a really, really generous and classy thing to do (and it probably builds good will and perhaps increases advertising for ASUS), but with the clamoring for the W3J isn't there some loss to the "bottom line?"
(note--Justin, if this causes you to reconsider, uhh, I, uhh, didn't say anything...) -

Now, with that said, we need to sell the items at a set price that we come decide on with Asus...... As many have noticed, we set Asus' prices.... anyone who's lower is not only going against what Asus wants them sold at - but has little connection with Asus --- because Asus requires this set price to keep up the value of their product. Yes, other places will sell some items for less and that's mainly to take our business and that's business....... but if we lower our price, Asus has already made this known to us but, no one will ever pay more for an Asus notebook than what we price it at. Look at that how you will, but if we dropped the price our ensembles by $100, $200, $300... whatever.... no one would ever get their set price and it would lower the value of their systems. It's no doubt that their systems are worth at least MSRP, but like any maker of good products, they have to worry about the value of their product........ -
Thanks to you again for keeping everyone informed 'bout the pre-orders as we move forward, and extra thanks for your willingness to offer the discount - it definitely doesn't go unnoticed or unappreciated.
As you said it'd be a "coupon code", I'm assuming this means we don't have to enter our NBR account information, and instead use the dedicated coupon entry slot on the web order form. If you have any other updates regarding your discount program for the W3J or the release date/pre-order date, keep the information coming!
Thanks again,
Adam -

That's correct.......... there would be a coupone code that you'd enter and that way the price is finalized and doesn't need to be re-authorized or anything like that.... it'll make it easier.
Now.. although I didn't start the thread and even though it only makes people aware of our advanced order..... unless someone has something to say directly related to the title of the thread - I suggest we sort of leave this thread go... -
Ok, so im confused right now, can or can't we as of know.. March 27th 2006, pre-order the W3J ?
From http://www.proportable.com ?
I think its a no, but im really confused -
Right now you cant preorder. Justin opened preorders a few days ago but. Asus decided that they were going to change the W3J a little from there initial spec for the US release. With the change in specs came a change in prices and Justin had to void all the orders. We are waiting for word from Justin on Asus's decision for the new specs for the US W3J and its production announcement also.
When Justin is ready he will open the preorders again. Those that preordered then had there orders canceled cause of the change in specs are guaranteed a spot when the next preorder opens. That is if they still want it. Next week or so we should get the final word on the final US spec and production. -
Thanks for clearing that up.
Only thing is i have no patients -
Well its only a few weeks away.

I want to order W3J from Canada (Toronto).
What is the S&H cost?
Is 3 year warranty international? Will Asus Canada repair unit if purchased in US and under warranty?
Is W3J color shine or crystal shine? Is it configurable option?
Is there an option to put 100GB/7200rpm drive in it? -
1st year = International
2nd+3rd = N.A. Only
The W3j is both, glare type and enchanced colour/contrast.
You can put any HD in, just make sure to take it out before sending it for repairs -
Great Googoly-Moogoly!
Better processor, Super-Multi drive, and at the same price???
Christmas just came a little early!
(Please, let this not be an April Fools' joke. . . . I'm all out of cardiac meds.) -
2nd+3rd = N.A. Only
You mean not available? Or? -
Cori means North America, bro.

This is my first post in here and I'm excited about the w3j. Hope reviews of the laptop starts pouring in as soon as you guys receive it cuz I'm seriously considering it for when I start grad school.

There have been a lot of "new" orders... but all you guys who had one in who want to order again... let me remind you that you NEED to order again because all of the old orders were voided out..... I know I said i'll give you all the same place in line, but please try to get those in ASAP... sometime Monday would be great as that's when I'm going to start processing them.... I'm going to be out of town the following week and I want to get as many of these out fo the way as possible and I'm going to try to pass these along to sales next week as it'll soon be a live, in stock product...
... if this is an april fools joke that Asus is playing on me, don't be surprised if you hear I landed in jail..... just kidding... no seriously -
Friggin' awesome
I also just walked in the door at 12:30 am and decided to check the forums before bed and I'm sure as hell glad that I did! Definitely looking forward to shipment!
Kudos again to Justin for all the help! -
I reordered mine again! Dont forget to get some accesories when ordering!
-
I realize my post won't add any value but I'm too excited not to post ...
WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Thanks again Justin (and also to Asus, without them this post wouldn't have been possible)! -
Here we go again......
Order placed from Hong Kong 4/1/06 .....Won't be back until late Monday.
-
sorry.. I know it's really stupid question.. but
will there be any advantages (other than getting my laptop earlier) if I preorder W3j? -
-
Where is the info on the $50 coupon?
-
-
You need to enter that on the first page after adding it to your cart also. Don't eff up like I did.

Seriously, don't screw it up. I'm going to adjust nearly 5% of the orders that have already come in..... but that's it. If anyone misses it, they missed out and it's tough cookies. All of you who "screwed up" - I'm calling you out.... You all knew that I was trying to make things easier on you and myself and help get these systems out ASAP once they arrive........ and after all that... you screwed up. I got the excuse "I couldn't figure it out, so I just put my order in to get in line" - about 4 times..... I got "I want such and such member discount" - about 5 times... and I've already said we're not using any other program on these advanced orders......
So... if you don't mind.... just so I can get a chuckle... those of you in the forum who screwed up their order after the half dozen reminders not to.... if you could just introduce yourself and admit to having a problem following directions.... I'll feel a little bit better about having to adjust those orders. At this point, after about 21 hours live... close to 1/4 of our allocation has been spoken for.... What's surprising to me is that only about half of those who had an order prior, have placed their order again. I know I gave them a certain spot in line, but I gave them till Monday evening to keep that spot as long as they reorder. Considering a slow down in ordering after the first big wave, and the rest of those prior orders coming back in, 1/2 of the allocation will be spoken for by the end of the day Monday. From past experience, it's also going to be around Tuesday or Wednesday that word of this advanced order and promo really gets out over the web and at that point I don't think their will much room left.
Remember, this promo code I made is for this first allocation.... if those are spoken for by mid week, that's the end of it....... if some last till the release day, then the morning of the release it will go dead. As of last night, the best estimate for the second shipment of W3j's puts us into early May and possibly into the second week before they arrive here and are ready to ship... close to mid month before those reach customers hands.
Hope that doesn't scare anyone...... but that's where things stand right now. -
Ahh for some reason the coupon code wouldn't work for me in the option near the end of checkout, but would work on the first page.
-
yeah it needs to go in "coupon code" on first page not the "gift certificate" one at the end
-
Well I think I'm going to wait until reviews come in, maybe get in on the second shipment. At the end of February I was set on the W3j, but with time I've looked into other options and am on the fence between the W3j and MacBook Pro (I've owned a Powerbook and iBook in the past).
-
AAARRRRGGGHHHH! For the SECOND time my bank is messing me over! Last time I missed the advanced order because the bank mis-shuffled the money in my accounts and distrubuted it so no one card had enough money for the purchase. THIS time they put the money in the WRONG card and are telling me it won't be until Monday (or maybe even Tuesday) that it will will be properly allocated! So, if all you guys gang up on me and keep me from getting my advanced order, I'm gonna have to go postal.... If you hear of a giant smoking crater in Provo, Utah that was me.
-
sorry if this was asked, but when is the approximate date we would get the lappy in the first shipment.
-
The first shipment will arrive the Week of 4/16 so anytime after it arrives. I guess it takes 3-4 days to get them all shipped out so most likely you will have it sometime the 3rd week of April.
-
Yay, I took the plung! Now, three weeks of waiting. Thank you to everyone on this forum for their help in this decision, especially PROPortable.
-
Woohoo! Just placed my pre-order...
I hope that as long as the system allows us to place the backorders, that means there will be a laptop for us in the first shipment? -
yep! I just pre-ordered mine, too
ah.. I just can't wait to see my w3j... -

The $50 promo is going to get turned off - on both the W3j and W2j at 12am, Wednesday, 4/5. Anyone looking to take advantage of that, should do so now.

Any member placing an advanced order have an order id over 6091? If so, you're most likely going to be in the 2nd say of shipping (minus any of the people who had orders in before who had locked their place in line).....
.... still out of the 1st shipment, just most likely on the 2nd day of shipping... We're going to do our best to get as many out as possible, but we have a physical limit. Given that I'm going to process all of the orders that are already in - all week.... so we might be able to get more out, but right now we're limited to a max of two FedEx pick ups a day. -
Yay I got my order in today. Thanks to Justin I am locked in cause I ordered before when it first went up. Now just a few weeks away from laptop heaven.
-
Living the dream and waiting for my W3j.
-
Justin, so the current eta for the W3J is still on the 16th? If they arrive early, please keep us updated, Thanks!
~Kenny -
PROPortable Company Representative
The ETA is the "week of the 16th"... which means we're expecting them between Monday the 17th and Friday the 21st. If they arrive early, I'd be likely to ship them prior to letting anyone know they were in.... just so we can get all the advanced orders out of the way before all those people who usually hold off ordering until they physically arrive...... I'm not sure if there will even be any left, but the phone calls alone on that day keep everyone busy. So if they are going to be late, i'll let everyone know... if they are early, you're all bound to get a tracking number in your email before I have time to post anything.....
But, with that....... people are going to most likely get tracking numbers early...... so please don't freak out and tell everyone about it.... because they'll be calling expecting to get theirs delivered soon... but with all of these orders, the labels and everything need to be made up in advance..... sometimes FedEx emails over the tracking number when it's made.. other times it's when they are scanned onto the truck.. and sometimes they don't email out a tracking number till they almost get delivered... so incase you get one, just note to keep an eye on the change of delivery date. -
This might be a stupid question but I don't have a lot of experience with deliveries. With Fed Ex you have to physically be there when the guy/girl (come on, I'm gender neutral
) comes right?
If so, that both sucks and doesn't. I don't want my 2000 dollar laptop sitting on my porch all that bad but at the same time I know I will just happen to be in class or at practice etc... when he comes.
