I dont think so. Probably he is BSing.
    Emphasis there on 'will'.
Also, its copied directly from the Asus website, with no pics of even the box that he is supposed to send. He probably preordered it from somewhere else for a lot cheaper and is trying to sell for a profit.

Wow pricing? I mean the ETA at MilestonePC is end of June so it's not like you're going to get it super early. And at a starting bid if $1699 it's already way overpriced...

Someone hoping to make a quick buck I guess.

Just emailed the seller asking him how he has it, and how come it's more expensive than Milestone's pre order. See what the guy has to say.

Maybe, but location is Thornhill, Ontario, Canada, and the item is factory sealed. I doubt he bought it in Asia and decided to carry it stock to Canada. Would get hit with lots of tax/duties, and customs would have to open the box.

I live in Thornhill, Ontario, Canada...and since It's quite a small city in the scheme of things, ask him where he is EXACTLY based...and I'll meet him in person for you/anyone and find out the real deal. I'm also interested in buying the W7J. I was waiting for Danny at MilestonePC to get them into his showroom so I could play with one before I buy...but I can easily meet this person if they are located where they say they are...again, anyone can get to ANYWHERE/ANY POINT in Thornhill by car in less than 7 minutes, that's how close we're talking. So either post his contact info, or private message me and I can easily verify this whole situation for everyone. :)

    I doubt what he said,

1.Asus has only two disti in Canada, I am positive they have not received W7J yet.

    2. Among Canadian resellers, there are no more than 3 or 5 resellers can order 10 units of one model on one order and none of them is in Thornhill

Shifting prices in his note and still wants you to confirm before he even gives you the address for p/u? Given the inconsistencies of the seller's earlier comments with what Danny notes above (brought in 10 units when Asus NA hasn't released them to their best resellers like Milestone, where did they come from - off the back of the truck?), it continues to sound too good to be true..... Myself, I'd probably still worry about the unit's origin and legitimacy, even if it turns out to be the w7. Sounds a bit like those cheap V6j's that Justitia found on Ebay last month?

if anyone here feels suspicious, just wait for your seller to get them in, I don't think a week or 2 will kill you. as for the shifting of the prices, the seller clearly didn't know he lives in the area and therefore didn't include the taxes in the original statement, I don't see any inconsistencies in his statement and he's willing to give address for local p/u, nothing fraud about that. as for the orgin of the w7, I can't vouch for it. If anyone's THAT worried, just go with whatever your gut says. I would wait if it was me.

hmmmmm. I still say skip it and agree with Outrigger - wait a couple of weeks for the resellers to get their hands on them :)

Jason: doubt he'd carry 10 boxes here without getting it opened by customs :)... + he actually says he got it from his supplier early.

It's very simple, If he is who he says he is and where he says he is, I can meet with him in person to verify everything is legit. I'm also hesitant, but If he's charging taxes, then It sounds legit to me...what shady person would charge you taxes for an in person pick up??? If he's charging taxes, then he has to issue a legit receipt. If his "company" can buy the W7J, then they must be an Asus Authorized dealer, therefore he should be able to offer me the option of buying the extended warranty If I ask for it. That is if everything he says is true and checks out.
Like I said, It's VERY simple, I can clear this all up within two days...I'll try and setup a meeting and let everyone know how It goes.

PS, I'm mostly doing this for those interested. I'm going to be buying a W7J, but I'd rather wait, pay the cheaper price and feel 100% backed and secure by going through Danny at MilestonePC. Since he's so close to me, It can't hurt to meet him and find out what's what for everyone else interested.

Did he say he has the White models or the Black models?...that could give us a few more clues to this whole situation...I guess I'll find out. Stay tuned.... :)

Hm.... someone in 2nd page said that w7j here in asia cost 1900 usd?.... I just saw a w7j here in China 12500 RMB without haglling at all. (1550usd?) after haggling, I believe it may come to 11500RMB (1450usd?) and if you buy it in taiwan, you can get as low as 1350 usd....

Well, I just got back from this guys house. He's legit. He has the black North American spec W7Js. He got them from one of Canada's only distributors for anyone who's worried. He also has the extended warranty "packages", so he has the ability to offer anyone that as well.

He's a nice guy, so I'm almost positive anyone who wants to order a W7J laptop from him will get it without any problems what so ever. If you did have a problem, I know where he lives!!! (I'm just kidding)

I still have to make my decision between the W7J and the W3J...but I wouldn't have any problem buying one from him at the right price If I did.

On a side note, the W7J is quite a beauty. It's basically a W5 with a bigger screen, some small external modifications, and a dedicated graphics card. Build quality equals that of the W5 series...and I really like the fact that It comes in black. If anyone has any other questions, feel free to ask, and I'll do my best to answer. :)

You shouldn't post specs for non-NA versions because I know for a fact there are many people who don't read the forums and come in here thinking what you listed are the specs that should be in their purchase. It'll only confuse people. If you still do post non-NA specs, please, put it in IN BIG BOLD LETTERS that this is not the NA version. Hopefully more people will use their limited reading comprehension to understand that.

Hey, do you really need to do that? FIST OF ALL, I'm responding for this thread because someone said in the first page that w7j cost more than 1900 US? And I know that it isn't true, since the specs with T2300 only cost 1350 US here, even your NA specs the price diff won't be big, do the math! but it WON'T cost 1900 USD. that's why I post my reply, to make things clear, not to make you confused.

I mean, let's look it this way, somebody said that Mc Donalds' french fries here in Asia cost 10 bucks, and then I said that it isn't. It's just cost 5 bucks here, it is true that the fries I'm getting here isn't as large as your NA version fries, but there's no large fries here, so should I lie by telling you that I know the price of large fries?!? Or should I just tell you that "It isn't 10 bucks, it's just 5 bucks, if you wanna know how much large version will be here, do the math yourself?

Hm... dunno why I write the stuff above, but hey with my limited reading comprehension, I really can't read what I wrote above. lol. and eclecticdoode, you have a GREAT reading comprehension to understand that, right?

PS: I've read every SINGLE letter with my LIMITED READING COMPREHENSION from FIRST page to the LAST page before I posted.

lol- everybody calm down. I would've probably thought those were the specs if I hadn't read this board so much. I think it'd be good to indicate if specs are region-specific. That way everyone would see-

At the same time, you can't write every post as if newbs are basing their purchase on it. This is an "enthusiast" board, ya know.

almost no fan noise. runs very quiet and cool. super quick with the 1.83 duo.
very comparable in quality to my w5f and my a6jc. but the w7j is absolutely the perfect size and weight!!!!!
