No news about any 205 bios? :/
-
Well, it is not out yet. I am sure that the second it comes out, someone will post.
-
Believe me, I check that ftp download page 7 or 8 times a day in anticipation (it is a bookmark).

If your clock is jumping up to 2 GHz when needed, then no, you don't have a problem. As far as I understand things, that is perfectly normal CPU behavior.
-
Anyone heard any news here yet? People (including me) are getting frustrated with Asus lack of response on this issue.....some are returning their G1s as a result.

i'm hopping that the fix comes this mounth. G2s received a bios update day 4...
-
May i ask a question.
If I use it W/O the battery will this problem still exist.
Thanks. -
that's like using it with 100% battery :S
-
That mean that there will be no problems if i just use the AC Adapter W/O the battery.
That's seem very good.
Thanks. -
So what the HEck? I've been reading this thread for the past 20 minutes like it was some kind of mystery novel. Was Ausus able to update the Bios in the G1s?
-
adolfotregosa:
So, still no fix on the 300 bios? How about flashing with the new G1sn bios? It's basically the same is G1s with new penryn and graphic. -
Yeah...honestly I don't know why we are all getting so upset about this? I mean, it shouldn't effect you that much if you keep your notebook charged and whatnot. Not a big deal.

I'm not sure it's difficult or not, but they won't do it. So just use the "disable thermal monitor" workaround, or keep your battery fully charged, cause those will be the only solutions you are likely to get...

I haven't read all the posts here, I read mostly Geared2play.com's and adolfotregosa's but ...
Are you really sure my power brick will stand charging the battery and running on max performance at the same time?
As a hardware developer and former electronic technician (working with many power supplies, switching, transformerless, etc..) I'm not that sure I can...
Some real measurements I just did run me into these toughts:
Real current measurments, taken with my DC multimeters:
Running on AC power supply, 70% charged battery, TM1 and TM2 disabled:
Power4Gear Performance @ CPU Idle: 4.95A
Power4Gear Battery Saving @ CPU Idle: 4.34A
The nominal output of the power supply is 19V / 4.74A, the maximum current output should be 10-15% more, I'm not that sure that my brick will stand running on MAX of that long. I should also remind that not all the single items from a production line are 100% identical, it may happen some of them are few percents more reliable or unreliable, which depends on god and quality control. I know ASUS are pretty good at this and they have calculated and tested it, so I won't take my chances with fighting them (unless I buy 120W power supply), though I know it works.
PS. It's too bad I spend almost $2000 on this laptop, but I think I can ingore the 30 minutes that the battery needs to charge -
I also did mesure that and my max was 4.55A with and without tm1 and tm2.
I been using this fix for alot of time and have no problem what so ever predator and i think alot of ppl is using the fix and nobody came here and said that they had a single problem. at some point you will really need the cpu power and you will be mad at the laptop -
Yeah, I'm also using it , I'm not afraid my PSU will fry cuz it won't actually (because of the difference of the 90W label on the back of it and it's maximum allowed consuption). Even if so, I can repair it or just buy a new one. But still, have some second thoughts (I say my DC multimeter going up to 5A when running COD4), so I'm running it on only when charging
Btw thank you for showing me that problem, I noticed something strange last night when I was playing (did 3 restarts and still got low framerates ingame) but I didn't notice it was actually the CPU. -
g1s new bios but does not solve cpu problem
