It shouldn't...this probably isn't it, but theoretically there could be spyware that's sitting there transmitting everything....

Or probably just some screwed up program that's keeping the webcam active when it shouldn't be.

At any rate, mine only lights up when I launch a video chat in an IM client that supports video chat, and shuts off when I close the connection, so it appears to be working right.

(Actually I have no real use for webcams-personally I'd rather NOT have one just because I'm a teeny tiny bit nervous about having a camera sitting on a device that theoretically can be taken over by who knows what through some unknown vulnerability).

Anyone planning on getting Windows 7 for their n80?

I wasn't planning to, since I like Vista fine, but since it's just $50 for an upgrade, I went ahead and preordered...I have months to change my mind anyway.

Not sure. I don't want the hassle of having to reinstall (to think I used to do it twice a year back on Windows 9x!) Hopefully the (few) Asus drivers I've installed will install/work on 7 fine too. I basically only use some of the drivers that support the special keys at the top of the notebook, mostly so that I can get Blu Ray and Wifi turned off completely.
