The slots are different, PM45 indeed supports DDR3 but it's up to notebook manufacturer if they want to use DDR3 or DDR2.

Yeh it is fake, cant be possible that NVIDIA gives in to ATI...! But I wonder how the 2 big GPU companies will react to Intel intoducing Larrabee GPU's in a while.

Did u install the 185.85? Others installed 186.42 and 186.82 as well. I compared results from 3DMark06 for each of these drivers and they were pretty similar. So no new drivers really. I'm waiting for DOX to release a good gaming 19*.** series driver.

HEY GUY! ASUS G60VX WILL BE RELEASED ON 10/22/09 WITH WINDOWS 7 PRELOADED at Bestbuy. DIFFERENCE WILL BE IT'S 16 INCHES SCREEN and cpu is P7450 at 2.26 (i think) ghz....no word on resolution..but price will still be $999 and I wouldn't doubt for one second its still 1366 x 768....it should look something like this

    http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/30/asus-g60vx-lappy-smuggled-out-of-the-peoples-republic-of-gamers/

I welcome the cpu speed bump, and windows 7 pre loaded..but I'm not sure about the low resolution at 16 inches screen...15.6 was pushing it...

By the way, still 1GB GTX 260m, 320gb 7200rpm HD, and 4 GB ram, no word on ddr 2 or 3, but I wouldn't hold my breath

You'll need to go through Asus, and they'll mail you an update disc containing Windows 7.

Go to http://event.asus.com/2009/windows7/usa/ for more info... that's the US site, but should be able to link to where ever you are located. Good luck!

Any of the G51 owners have seen the rubber like material of the palm rest falling apart?
In mine, on the corners, the material is like peeling off or semething!

I think its because of the slip case Im using, that has the zipper just next the front of the laptop... Im putting my laptop with the front on the other side of the case now, but the damage is done... and it hurts a little bit

Ouch man, hopefully it's just cause of the zipper case cause I'm thinking of getting the rx05 and I'd hate for the whole palm rest to fall to pieces..

    It's a leper!

In any case, I've had this guy for a while and there aren't any defects on the palmrest.

Owned for a few days here and it's still in mint condition. I'm sure it was the zipper.

I'd also agree about it being the zipper. Had my notebook since June 24th and my palm rest appears to be in the same condition as day 1.

Is a rubberized paint. It is tuff stuff but if you go through it it starts pealing. I got my first g51 from newegg and returned it due to the palm rest missing a speck of rubberized paint that pealed the more you rub it. So now that yours is missing some paint just be carefull not to rub real hard on it or it will spread. If you do that it will not get any larger. As long as your rig performs well thats all that matters.

It's the same paint that's on my satin grip for my G9x. Some of my friends' G9 grips look like road rash over the years after the rubber paint starting coming off.

Yes, I started using the case with the zipper on the backside of the laptop and it hasn't peeled off any more. I take care soooo much all my electronics that it wasn't pleasant to see this, but I'm OK with this now... At least it doesn't bother me a lot anymore.

Anyone know what my G51 is worth. It could pass for brand new in the box.
