Thanks, MaxGhost, for taking up the topic. Actually, a DP/N might be more adequate. I think it's located on the white sticker with 2d code, not sure...

Hey Mitchell2.24v, thanks for your input. Too bad a search on Dell's web site comes up empty. And the only thing Google finds is... this thread :) As for the picture, Anandtech has a nice pic of a 6-cell battery from the L501x.

No worries, I didn't meant to hassle you. Just wasn't sure you'd be following this thread and I knew you had the hardware ;-)

That picture looks the same as my battery, only mine has the three extra cells on the bottom. So I would say it should fit.

No problem. I am following, just a bit busy at times...

Hey guys, my laptop was accidentally spilled over by 7 up (sadly). I dried the keyboard, used iso propanol to clean it. However, some keys are not elastic as they were, it seems like the 'leftover' of that damn 7 up still been there and sticking to the back of those. Any way to save my keyboard without removing the keyboard and the touchpad. Help, please!

Just to let you guys know I just swapped the screen on the xps 17 from the 900p shinny to a LG 1080p matte, and works perfect.

    That is real interesting news!

Can you post the details in the L701x thread? This way we can see to maybe do the same. ;)

Did you take pictures? Where did you buy the screen?

The modelname you mention is actually a Hannstar panel.

But please show us a picture of your matte screen in the XPS 17, I'd love to see that!

I have the XPS 17, 435m and loving it.. I have it overclocked some and the temps are still very good on the video card.

My question, with 3DMarks, I can't run it.. It wants to use the Intel video card and I get lousy scores. Any idea on how to configure 3D Marks to use the Nvidia?

You have to go into the Nvidia control panel and edit your "whitelist" settings for some programs to force the use of the Nvidia card instead of the Intel. Here is a bit of a tutorial for you on how to do it(it states it's for the M11x but it is the same steps):

I've done that, but 3D marks wants to take the 'primary' card for the test and no way to change it, even in the paid version.

Any other good benchmarking tests I could do?
