If you are just surfing the web, you shouldn't have the G210m on. Your comp will be running off of the 9400. With the right settings, I am getting approximately 3 hours on a 6 cell battery.

** When you get your new comp, make sure and verify that you got the right graphics card. I did not and have been battling with Dell for a couple of weeks now. ** There is a small simple program at www.tecpowerup.com that will show you your graphics card model and configuration.

If anyone is wanting to overclock their xps 1340 and has a 9500m this program allows you to easily get some extra juice out of the two cards and lets you sync the changes and keep the changes at startup.

I've had mine for about three weeks, and it has happened to me about 3 times. All you need to do is push the internet button on the key board, (the tower with the signals)

I just recieved my dell xps m1340 with these specs

    XPS 1340, Intel Core 2 Duo P9600 (2.66GHz/1066Mhz FSB/6M L2 Cache)
Arctic White High Gloss Finish with Leather
    4GB, DDR3, 1067 MHz 2 Dimm forXPS 1340
13.3 Inch Wide Screen WXGA WLED Backlit LCD with 1.3 MP Camera, XPS 1340
    NVIDIA GeForce N10M-GS 512MB
90 WATT AC ADPTR, NB ST
500GB 7200RPM Free Fall SensorSeagate Hard Drive
Microsoft Windows Vista with SP1 Home Premium Edition 64-bit Edition English
    Integrated High Definition Audio 2.2
Dell Wireless 1510 802.11n Half Mini Card
56 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion P Primary Battery

and it has been working fine for 2 days although i noticed that it really gets quite hot on the exhaust area after a few minutes on high performance mode and after about an hour it automatically shut itself off. i think its due to overheating. this happened to me 2x already.
now my problem is that my adapter cannot be read by the laptop.
my bios is already A11 and i already contacted dell and they said they would replace the motherboard so as the ac adapter.

anyone had the automatic shut down problem?

i noticed that the heat isn't distributed well inside the laptop. its warm on the right speaker area and its too hot on the left speaker area and the rest is cool. ive used it on an air condition room. :(

It should since that could be the issue, otherwise you may want to start looking at a cooler for it.

Im trying to diagnose my HDD but I dont see an option for extended diagnosis... Heres what I've done: hit F12 key then chose to run diagnosis... if takes about maybe 5-10 mins... it checks memory screen color.. memory again... and after that it gives me an option to run extended memory test in which it warns me could take about 30 mins..... ok so I chose to take extended test and all it checks is memory and after that it just says press ok to reboot without any other options.... and if I dont choose to run extended memory test it says press ok to rebook....... where did the other options go, like to check HDD, audio, display, processors... etc...... am I doing something wrong here guys??

You can run dell's digonosis. First, shut down your laptop. Second, press FN and the power button together. It will run a self test. After some minutes it will ask you to do the extended test or not. Press yes. Then after that you can choose to test which part specifictly.

Ok... i got a chance to test the 210m graphic using devil may cry test. i turned everything on super high with no AA. It runs between 21 to 51 fps in that native resolution. After playing 1 hr of it, my gpu's temperature was at most 57C on 9400m and 61C on 210m with zalman notebook cooler running at low. I might lower that shadow and turn on more AA so that the game will look perfect :)

Is anyone having problems with the rubber screen bumper things on the palm rest? My left one is peeling, and it doesn't even seem to use glue to stick on. It probably does though. I'm going to try super gluing it later, but that just seems like it is not going to look perfect.

Almost the same as mine, except I have the 9500. I haven't had thermal shutdown issues with mine. I normally use a cooler, but I've had it in performance mode without the cooler, and I run several virtual machines at once without the cooler and it works fine. I will prop it up slightly in the back, or use the extended battery which does the same thing.

yes you can! its not soldered its one screw thats holding the cpu in its tray... unscrew it and pop in a p8700,, p8700 is going to work for sure because its one of the processors under dell's build specs. plus your gona get lower temps if you get the P series, so thats also a +

Make sure the one you buy isnt defective, (if you're buying a used one)

Hi Guys, I'm hoping you can help me out with some info. I currently have the 1510 wireless card in my 1340. I've not been able to achieve speeds of greater than 130Mbps while running Vista or Windows 7. Other laptops connected to the same router are achieving speeds of 300Mbps.

The Dell rep said that the 1510 card is not capable of getting over 130Mbps on the 1340 because the 1340 only has 2 antennas. He said a 3rd antenna would be required to achieve the max speed of 270Mbps which is not available on the 1340.

Does any one know if this is accurate? Is anyone else getting greater than 130Mbps speeds on their 1340? If so, which card do you have and what OS are you running?

Lastly, what speeds are people achieving with the 1520 wireless card and are you experiencing any fluctuations in speed with Win7?

    Thanks in advance.

As I sit here typing this reply, my 1340 with 1510 is connected to my Asus router at a speed of 300.00Mbps, at home with my linksys router I get a solid 270Mbps.

I'm running windows 7, had the same speeds with vista.

    Cheers

I have learned that Dell tech support is clueless. Or basically Dell phone/internet support in general....Talk with 15 different people on an issue, get 15 different answers; usually all inaccurate.

There is a new update for sxps 13 users who have seagate hard drive with the clicking issues. The update will be under the SATA. Please make sure that the seagate numbers match with you hard drive's number in device manager. There are two files for different seagate hard drives. So be careful with that :)

Just got my Studio XPS 13 from the Outlet today. Here's the specs:

    Core 2 Duo P8800
Installed Intel X25-M G2 80GB (came with the 500GB Seagate)
    6x DVD+-RW
Installed Intel 5100 WiFi (Came with the Dell 1510)
WXGA Edge to Edge w/ LED
    6-Cell Battery
    NVIDIA G210M

    A few questions:

Has anybody installed copper shims between the GPU's? If so, where did you get them and what size?

It's locked up on me while shutting down and while restarting. It just freezes with what is on the screen. Anybody notice that problem happening on theirs?

Can you use drivers from laptopvideo2go.com on this notebook or am I better off sticking with Dell's?

Running FurMark and Orthos at the same time my temps get to the following:
    Processor - 82 C
    G210M - 72 C
    9400M - 91 C
Is that fairly normal? It seems pretty high to me but I know this notebook can run hot. I got the temps using HWMonitor.

Other than that, I'm diggin pretty much everything about this laptop so far.

    Thanks!

I'm sorry, I don't know what to tell you about the freezing up issue maybe it's related to the heat because...
Your temps are really high  I recommend you replace the thermal paste ASAP.
Here is a how to guide that you can follow if needed

The lock up is caused by your wifi card. PLEASE CHANGE it to dell wifi card 1510 or 1515 or 1520 as soon as possible. the intel wifi card is not compatible with the nvidia motherboard. :(

Two antennas can support up to 300Mbps. The third one is for the 450Mbps. Clearly, that rep didn't know what he was talking about. Maybe you need to configure you wifi card to fix the issue.

P.S notebookcheck lie, I get over 1000 more than them in 3dmark06, guess they benchmarked a 1.3ghz asus or somehting lol

Thanks very much for the info guys. The Dell tech decided to replace my 1510 wireless card with the 1520. We'll see if that fixes my problem.

Hanming, how can I configure my wireless card? I have only seen a Dell utility to monitor my wireless statistics, not configure it.

Does anyone have any info at all on the 1520? Is the Dell tech downgrading me? Is anyone achieving greater than 130 Mbps with the 1520 card?

    Cheers

I think the 1520 one is better. It is much stable than my 1515. i am able to configure my wifi card if you go to the device manager-> dell wireless 1520-> advanced tab then you can configure the settings.
