My drive doesn't seem to be listed. Device manager says I have a ST932042 1ASG?

The update is for your drive also. Your drive is the same as mine. So download the first one under the SATA drives. Before you download it, you need to double check the "applies to" that has the same number as your drive.

Sorry SXPS 13 does not come with the xp os install disk. The os install disk is either Vista for the old owners or Windows 7 for the new owners

    UPDATE:

I put the original Dell Wifi card in and all seems well now, I haven't gotten to play with it much, but I could definetly notice last night using the laptop that the Wifi was flaky. Thanks for the tip. Is there a better Wifi card I should be using?

I also removed the thermal paste from the CPU and 210M and applied Arctic Silver 5. So far, under the same stress test, here are my temps:

    Processor - 64 C (18 C cooler)
    G210M - 72 C (Same)
    9400M - 91 C (11 C cooler)

I assume this will get better as time goes on and the AS5 has time to settle. I'm surprised that the 9400M dropped so much, but I suppose that since it is on the same heatpipe as the processor, that might make sense. No change on the G210M is a bit puzzling. Does anybody know where a copper shim could be purchased for the 9400M?

I have a copper modded xps1340 with artic silver 5 thermal paster applied... I have applied it several times due to motherboard changes, and I can tell you the truth.. when they say it needs 200 hours to settle thats actually bs!! I have been using my xps1340 with artic silver for 3 months and the temperatures actually get worse, on my 3rd month it gotten hotter... so the temperatures you see now are as good as they gona get.. unless you copper mod it with artic silver or mx3 or mx2 thermal paste!

Over all my temps are: p8600 processor: 38-45c, 9400M: 42-50C (not stressing it).... at loads like playing crysis on low for 30mins the 9400m reaches low 70C... and processors stay cooler like around high 50 low 60..

I had a problem finding a copper shim, so I went to a hardware store found a small 100% copper pipe that is the right thinkness... and basicly cut it with metal sissors... So if the pipe and an "O" shape... after cutting it in half it had a "C" shape... from there I flattened the C shape into a flat copper piece, I then measured the size of the gpu's die, and then cut the copper piece down to perfect size.

I cant tell you that I was sceptical about modding from a copper pipe... but I got great results... And you would get better results because your running SLI 210m and 9400m!

    Hope this helps

I have updated my firware of my HDD smoothly but it still sounds the same. I never had any loud noises coming from the HDD just more of a soft scratching sound of HDD. So is this normal for 7200rpm because I dont see any difference at all after the firmware update

by the time that happens 210m will be like 9400m is low low end card. Im not trying to be rude but you guys need to stop thinking that you can outsmart dell, its a business they didnt become this big by letting ppl fool them

Does anyone else's 1340 have an "AC Adapter not recognized" when they first boot? My battery won't charge because of this, windows power plan says 60% available (plugged in, not charging)

EDIT: I just unplugged and replugged the power connection a few times and it suddenly started charging... strange...

You might need a new PS. Sometimes the electronics in those things break and the signal won't be sent to the computer telling it is the right PS.

Eeasy fix, just call Dell tech support and they will overnight you a new one.

I had my motherboard swapped a few days ago and I noticed that the headphone and microphone jacks arent holding the 3.5mm headphone jack tight in place. With my old motherboard I would plug in the headphones at it held it very tight inside and you had to you a lil strength to pull it out ( a good thing! ) now with the new mobo if I accidently move the headphone jack just pops out.

Does any one know if theres a simple way to fix this? Im thinking there are 2 metal pieces inside the holes that hold it in place, is there any way of messing with it without having to do another motherboard replacement?

    Thanks

What is supposed to be the benefit of the driver updates? Just curious. Also, did the tech support notice your copper mod? You never posted the answer on your thread.

He only noticed it due to getting dirty by thermal paste.. So I told him I used a copper shim because the last guy who swapped the motherboard forgot to put the thermal pad back in.... and it worked he bought that bs.... I also think he didnt really care since Im not really making things worse just better.

As for nvidia update, I was having ter issues on single 9400m, after mobo change it is still there so I updated my driver yesterday night and will check today if the issue is gone.... The reason I decided to post this is because a few ppl were experiencing this problem too, someone posted it here with 210m studdering..... plus its the first official update of video driver after windows came out so Im sure there are a few holes patched up.

OO by the way these new drivers support adobe flashplayer 10.1 beta ( it uses the gpu hardware acceleration to speed up HD videos on youtube and other streaming sites) So if anyone wants to try it go to control pannel uninstall flashplayer and flashplayer active x... then google adobe flash player 10.1 beta and install it..... I tried it but I kind of got bad results with the flash beta... HD videos are more pixelated... but maybe thats just for me.

It supposed to be a new step forward for flash, so if anyone want to try it, you now can, but you have to install the latest nvidia drivers for it to work

Just few hours after installing the Windows 7 (clean install) I noticed that when I leave my notebook idled for an hour, the WLAN connection gets disconnected from my router and couldn't connect until I disable->enable my Wireless connection.

I have some advices for you. First, go to device manager and find your wireless card under the "network adapter." Click the power management tab and uncheck the turn off this device to save power. Second, go to power options. Click the "change plan setting" then click "Change advanced plan setting." Find "wireless adapter settings" and chose "maximum performance."

I called Dell to send me a replacement LED Screen since my laptop has a few dead pixels and the screen protector on the side is coming out.

Intead of black they sent me a white color. Do you know if this would void the warranty if I decide to keep it. Should I go back to black.

I guess I don't know but is the white better looking?

Haha, that's pretty random. I wouldn't mind a nice change though... spice things up a little. I would call and ask Dell the warranty question, they are not going to send someone out to take it back (waste of time and money).

I am chatting with dell trying to get a new AC adapter.
They want to send a technician to replace the AC adapter and motherboard.
I really don't want one of dells technicians doing it because I could do a better job then one of them

I'm just going to try to get them to send me a new AC adapter, ONLY! I am using my other spare AC adapter and it's charging my battery and working fine.

When you bought your computer, if the webcam came with dell facial recognition software, you should call dell and ask them to help you set it up.

Just call dell because I think the software needs authenticated with your computer, it's kinda complicated. Just call dell ;)

What wireless card do you have? There's something about a certain wireless card model that causes the 1340 to freeze and crash.
You can always call dell and have them fix it for sure.
