^^^ Thank You^^^.. Might I add. The lowest end motherboard with 9400m cost $355, the newer one will be around $480+ or -.... and most likely you will need to buy different heat sinks. I know we all want it for free but Im pretty sure DELL is not that stupid to let people sucker them in for free upgrades!
And even if you decide to pay that much for an upgrade, you are better off selling your xps13 and buying a new one.

In case anybody's wondering, the new IDT audio driver for Win7 x64 makes the audio jacks work right using the normal installer. The Vista x64 version didn't work right, so I had to uninstall it, roll back to the Windows driver, and install using "update driver" via Device Manager. The only issue I had that *might* be related to the Windows driver was the "Windows Audio Endpoint Builder" would crash and take out 8 of its best friends (other services) with it. Now, the audio works fine and I hope the Audio Endpoint Builder is stable.
-
No...I am not going to pay that much. I didn't complain anything when my laptop had beem repaired around 7 times. Now, when i use 9500m GE, the whole system started to stutter a bit. Then I changed to 9400m only, the laptop works great. So I will ask them to change the motherboard even i pay a little amount for the 210m
-
I'm very disappointed to see that i cannot configure the nVidia N10 with the 2.8GHz cpu... says they are incompatible....
Think this is heat related? -
If I get it replaced, will the n10m card definitely fix the problem? What exactly makes it better vs the 9500M?
Will Dell send me out a brand new laptop with the n10m video card or ask me to send my current one back and install the new board and video card on it?
-
GUYS, you know what. I just ordered my XPS1340 (yey! yey!), yeah, just after when Dell releases a new 210M configuration for it...
yeah... this is fun. -
In regards to the esata questions posted, Nvidia technical support has confirmed that the Ion motherboard on the xps 1340 does not have sata port multiplier capabilities. Unfortunately, external esata raid arrays with two or more harddisks will not work with the xps 1340 unless port multiplication is available on the raid enclosure itself.
On a related note, the combination esata usb port on the right side of the 1340 also does not provide the usb 2.0 standard power output so any external multi-disk raid enclosure should be plugged into a powered usb hub or to the usb port on the left side of the 1340.
Any raid enclosure using the Silicon Image Steelvine 5744 chip will not provide full 3 Gb throughput speed on the 1340 esata port. My tests using Windows 7 RTM OS and a 2.5" drive external enclosure has so far provided a maximum transfer rate of 4.38 MB per second with a 4 GB file copy in a raid 1 configuration. Hard disks were two Seagate Momentus 7200.4 drives configured for raid 1. By contrast, the usb 2.0 connector provided 10 MB transfer rates for the same 4 GB file copy while a singe drive on the esata port reported 13.7 MB transfer rates.
A comprehensive report on external hard disk products can be found below:

Glad to see win 7 drivers coming out.... does any one have a clue on how we're going to get our win 7 upgrade. I registered on dell for the upgrade and all. I was just wondering we're going to pay shipping or its 100% free? I cant wait for win 7 already.
-
I definetly will not pay $200+ for a retail copy. Any recommendations on what I should do to get win7 ? -
Start studying?
Currently on Win7 Pro from MSDNAA works great. -
I also didnt try anything from win7 rc. I want to experience the official release with as minimum bugs as possible -
I am using windows 7 RC1 and I like it a'lot, that is why I want the official win 7 when availableI haven't noticed any bugs, it's already better than vista
-
maybe wen our disks come u can convince someone to send u the cd, or buy it for a lower price? Lol you can always rob a store for a windows 7 cd, if you get caught just tell the officer "vista really sucks"
-
I'm thinking about buying a new sxps 1340 with the new GPU and a free 2 yr warranty w/the win 7 upgrade. This ofc depends on how much I could sell my current 1340 for...
-
Any one know where I can download a service pack for Win7 x64 Ultimate as I took the jump from Xp and I hate vista.
All drivers installed and no probs yet (crosses fingers) -

For the people who still have the latency problem with the newest BIOS, you need to close dell dock and that's it. Not closing the dell dock:4497 Closing the dell dock:1452 I hope this helps a little bit

any tips on how to remove the windows & processor stickers?? I tried to take them off its like they're super glued
-
BTW I kept my stickers -
I didn't have much problem taking mine off, just do it slowly, and stamp the sticker on the residue to remove as much of it as possible.
Then just rub it with your finger a bit, and there won't be a trace left over. -
Any other ideas? I'm getting pretty close to just returning the laptop... -
you can turn off the bluetooth to see if the problem is still there. Also delete and install the newest IDT driver.

@ElijahRW
I just thought what would be the whole point of those stickers, well at least the windows vista sticker, Im gona have win7 soon, so that has to go. and im not gona let intel core2 duo sticker be there lonely by itself. Some people said it looks cleaner more presentable without any stickers. I could see that since the laptop is black. -
How to: Remove Factory Stickers
A few forum members have tried it, and it seems to have worked well!

Some sites say that theres an SP1 for Win7 is this only if you upgrade from Vista to 7?
As I did a clean install.
Have all drivers installed with no probs even face recognition
But some programs like zonealarm require sp1 -
hey,
Does anyone have a 9 cell battery for their 1340 and if so, would they recommend it?
thanks! -
No not yet, but soon, forgot to mention I only have 1 usb port on mine... whats that about
-
-
Yes, I got dell to upgrade me to a 9 cell due to the LCD snafu and it is (obviously) way better than the 6 cell. I can easily get 5.5 - 6 hours out of it with the power saving mode turned on (No aero, no backlit keyboard, screen turned about halfway down). With the 6 I struggled to get even a full 3 hours out of it.
Just for reference, Battery Care shows a capacity on the 9-cell of 942621 mWh and average discharge rate is about -15.4W.

Hey, can somebody answer this question:
You know there are two headphone jacks right, how do you configure your computer so that the main audio output goes to both? Especially for Windows 7?
For example, when I'm playing a video on my XPS, I want it so that my friend and I can plug in two separate earphones into it and listen. -
The SP1 refered to by zonealarm might just be that i doesnt recognize the win 7, thinks its a plain vista etc. -

Just keen on using this thing I guess, thanks
Is there a new nForce Driver as the 1 I have is:

I am wondering can centrino 2 be offered in this machine, or at least the 5100 card, the dell wireless card's never have great range anyway.
-
^^ ur right about the range of dell's wifi card. I have 1510 card and I compared
my laptop to my friends cheap toshiba laptop and he could get more range than me... I dont know what card he had Im guessing intels wifi, but the difference is like 15 feet! -
I think its a nice, and easy way to remove those *luvly* stickers!
Cin... -
While I DID have real audio problems with my left speaker, they didn't really check if I was telling the truth, so if anyone wants to get under Dells skin a bit (and clear out the stickers in a "guaranteed not to leave a trace" fashion), it'll be enough if you shout at the tech lads over the phone and have them replace it.
I probably shouldn't say this, but I think without any links this should be fine. Note that the BIOS comes with a SLIC 2.1 table. So it's REALLY easy to activate W7 Ultimate as an OEM system. -
LOL, I actually have a pretty bad speaker problem, but why woud they replace the top panel for it? arent speakers inside and not connected to the panel... also you said something about W7 ultimate which I really didnt understand.... theres a way to get a free utlimate upgrade?
thanx -
