Cool, I'm sure you'll like it :) Also I'm sure you won't mind doing some benchmarks because it has the new GPU :)

Yeah definitely will try to get some bench marks once it arrives, I am also going to try to get Dell to send me a 9 cell when they give me a follow up call haha,

although I am having a little bit of second thoughts not going for an Adamo :)

Nice deal. I got about the same price, but with 2.53 Ghz. You can knock another $100 off if you call in to cancel the order. They will try to "save" you with the $100 offer.

Yeah they said they would follow up since I had to get a manager discount and make sure the order went through, I am going to try to get them to toss in a 9 cell and/or discount. Are any of you guys using notebook sleeves and if so which ones?

Anyone that has received a Dell in the past month, do you know if they are being shipped with A011 BIOS? Just trying to prepare for what I will need to do when mine arrives.

I called the sales rep that was helping me, but he just gave me a canned, "you'll have the most recent version".

I just bought a refurb of the xps 1340 for $720. I bought it because my M1330 nvidia chip was defective as many people know on these forums. And dell would not give me a extended warranty for the M1330 defect. So I thought why spend $300 and buy a new motherboard and fix it and then to have it die again after a few months. Then I heard of the heat/video issues with this laptop, especially concerning this particular GPU (9500M). I think I'm going to just return this laptop. Apparently dell can not make a decent working laptop anymore, and this is there top of the line XPS series jeez.
here are the specs for what I ordered:

Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 (3MB cache/2.0GHz/1066Mhz FSB) Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium

    256MB NVIDIA GeForce 9500M

Dell Wireless 1510 802.11a/g/n Draft Mini Card

500 GB SATA Hard Drive (5400 RPM)

    6 Cell Primary Battery

    4 GB DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz (2 DIMMs)

13.3 inch HD WXGA Edge-to-Edge Slim Laptop screen W/LED with 1.3 Megapixel Camera

8X DVD ± RW w/dbl layer write capability

    Subtotal: $721.65

You guys think this is a good price for a refurb?

Can you guys please do me a favor and check the DEVICE ID for the WLED? Is it the LG one?
    THanks in advance.

Also, do you guys feel your hard drive is loud? Mine 320 GB Western Digital one they gave me is really loud, almost louder than the fan. I hear it all the time.

Mine WLED is SEC and my original HD was the WD and my current one is the ST. The Seagate is noticeably louder, but nowhere near as loud as the fan.

500GB 7200RPM Seagate, and I can't hear it over the fan. I don't game that often on it, so the fan is on its lowest setting most of the time, and I can't hear the drive.

were you able to do a clean installation of windows 7 or only upgrade ?
do you get a serial number with it or it uses the vista one ?
Does anyone knows if I can install a 64bit version on a 32bit vista ?
    Thanks.

I already have Windows 7 Ultimate installed from MSDN, so I wasn't going to use it. It does have a key on it, but I'm not sure what it can or can't do, as it expressly states it's for upgrades only. :-(

I have the 9500M in my 1340, and I ordered mine at the end of August and got it beginning of Sept. I ordered the upgrade a couple weeks ago, it that long.

Oh, and you can't do architecture changes like that, so 32bit works with 32bit only. Likewise for 64bit.

If it's in working condition when it gets in, then it's a good price. I haven't experienced any video/heat problems with my laptop yet. I have the 9500 as well. I think the P series of the processors run cooler as well. The two share a heat sink, so undervolting your CPU helps alot as well. Just don't use it on your lap and expect it to run comfortably. Let me know if you've got questions. You can always return it later.

But i guess, never tried, that doing it with the sli on might get it to warm.

I should be getting one today. It's a brand new replacement system for my ailing XPS M1330 (Nvidia GPU problems). I'm going to be selling it, though, so I won't get a chance to test it out.

I pretty much got the same deal, but you have to start with the right bundle package otherwise it cost a lot more. I am pretty sure the "bundle" I selected was a $403 savings and then I customized from there.

i also ordered the following and i'm getting very frustrated with Dell:

    -XPS 1340, Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 (2.53GHz/1066Mhz FSB/3M L2 Cache)
    -4GB, DDR3, 1067 MHz 2 Dimm
-13.3 Inch Wide Screen WXGA WLED Backlit LCD
-500GB 7200RPM Free Fall SensorSeagate Hard Drive
-Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit
-Dell Wireless 1510 802.11n Half Mini Card
-Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Module (2.1)
    -NVIDIA GeForce N10M-GS 512MB
-56 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion P Primary Battery
    -2 Year Limited Warranty
-LoJack Theft Recovery Service,XPS - 1 Year DHS

I ordered on 10/23 and my status is STILL "In Production"! I can't get any answers as to why this is, and it's never taken this long to get a system from Dell. Also, they used to state "build" stage, "QA" stage, but now just this vague message. My estimated delivery date is still 11/10 and i did choose the free ground, so yes, it makes sense, but i'm wondering if anybody else is having a ridiculous waiting period such as this?

I am having the same issue. Even worse, when I call in to check on the order, the automated response is the my order is being processed! (not even in production) I've emailed the sales rep that helped me with my order and he looked into it and said that everything is on schedule for me to receive me order on time, but I am not holding my breath.

I used to have real positive experiences with Dell customer service (years ago), but this time around has been a different story.

You guys could be stressing yourselves out over nothing... chill out. IF Dell is late with the shipment, then you can get your panties in a bunch (PS I would get my panties in a bunch IF the shipment was late too, so that was in no way a jab).

We probably are, but it doesn't give you a warm fuzzy feeling when there isn't any visible progress. This is a big purchase for most people and they want to know that everything is moving along.

Also, getting the order placed in the first place had its own set of challenges so the whole process was less than smooth.

I agree that it is a big purchase and you would have every right to get angry when the time comes, Im just trying to point out that life is full of enough worry... why not try to avert it if you can. Besides, at this point there is absolutely nothing you can do unless you know someone who works in the assembly line or shipping facility.
