My P8700 with 3670 has a WE of 5.4? with the lowest being the CPU.
I re-ordered with the 4670 and T9550, so it had better be better than 5.4 or I am keeping the 3670.

Here is the Deal I got along with free NBD shipping, 9 cell and a Timbuk2 HAL Backpack from my rep:

Why are they refusing and why are you canceling it? Usually if it hasn't shipped, they cancel upon request. In fact I think it's part of their policy, they HAVE to cancel.

Ask to speak to their supervisor, they MUST cancel. There's no ifs or buts about it. Threaten to file a charge back on your card and that you are recording the conversation.

I've spoken to their supervisor, I contacted Andy Esparza Senior VP of human resources yesterday, and he told me to send him the order number. Then I emailed michael Dell and while he didn't reply a team of Customer Resolutions (Thanks Cin) emailed me back. They're calling tomorrow.

Call and ask for the Sales Resolution Team. When they ask why say you were speaking to someone there already and they told you to call back and ask for their team. I had so many issues with my first 1640 and none were resolved until I spoke to them. They were based in California and spoke English, for the most part, as a first language.

Hey guys whatsup, I spent all morning reading the the 22 pages lol. I'm going to order an xps 16 next week and so all your posts have been really helpful.

First question is does anyone know if the p9550 is going to be offered for the xps16? i know its you can get it for the xps13.

Second question. You guys were talking about using some coupon, is it available for everyone, and if so is it more savings than the student discount.

Is it easy to get free shipping if I talk to a rep? and I also would want the student discount

And I thought you guys would like this, i found a 3.06Ghz studio xps on the uk website. if you type it in on google you find it, but not through the regular site lol. http://search.dell.co.uk/1/3/core-2-t9900-notebook

    Shipment information sent to FedEx

W_TF? It's supposed to get here by tomorrow although the FedEx customer support told me they deliver on Saturday as well. She theorized that Dell is using it's own courier to get the package in or near Florida and then they'll probably hand it off to FedEx for delivery. Right now all FedEx has is electronic shipping information..strange.

The link on the first page was for a $504 discount. The EPP deals almost always can do better, especially if you go through an agent. I had my EPP rep waive my shipping charges after asking her to match Dell Home's service (which includes free shipping). Dell is mysterious when it comes to CPU upgrades.

Fedex is wrong about Dell using a carrier to bring it to FL. If your on the east cost, all orders are sent out of Nashville at ECFC.

I wouldn't worry too much because I have seen plenty of packages just show up at my door from FedEx even though the tracking never updated.

so.. finally the 4670 option is available for puerto rico.

    however...

the first time i bought the laptop with the 3670, it all came up to $2,800 , with ssd included, 3 year complete care and the T9800 , 2.93 ghz processor. this included taxes and shipping.

Now.. Dell PR is not offering the t9800, the fastest processor they offer is the P8600, 2.40 ghz, are charging $400 extra for the 4670, do not include the windows 7 upgrade, nor an option to buy the 9 cell battery, and it totals $2,895.00 **Without** taxes or Shipping and handling included, which should add more or less $300.00 extra.

so now im really confused.... paying 3k for a pc that has a worse processor than i paid for in the past...without the windows 7 upgrade or the 9 cell battery....and i mean i just configured the same laptop on Dell USA and the difference is as follows:

    Dell USA = $2,263.00
Dell PR = $2,895.00 + taxes and shipping

so right now... i dont know if im gonna pull the plug on it =/ . i really think dells complete care extended warranty is the best, but all i keep thinking is that for this kind of money i can probably get something better.

or maybe i should just wait some more. dunno. im pretty dissappointed over it =/.

what do u guys think ?

That's a pretty high price, I paid $1586.20 for mine (got the $29 shipping charge waived). So you would nearly be paying double what I did. Maybe instead of 3 years warrant + CC, try 2 years? And go for a standard 320 gb drive instead of SSD. P8600 is good enough though.

yeah i guess ill call later today. geez. Anything you want to buy from PR you pretty much get the finger from most companies =( . i just cant believe the price difference is so high, plus the fact that they just eliminate options out of nowhere. at that price, im just thinking its not worth it. Its a great pc but not $3,000 dollars great.

Joker for what it's worth. When I received my M17x, I had the same issue, it was not till the day I was going to receive it that all the info all of a sudden showed up on Fed Ex. I think that happens alot when something ships ground. Your XPS is shipping ground right?

yeah, it was $504, now its only $404 discount.
and unfortunately i just found out that i can't participate in Dell EPP, so this seems to be the best offer for me right now, and it seems i've already missed $100 from this.. now with this, my config would cost around $1700 (total, after taxes), and this doesn't even have blu-ray drive..
but it's still much better deal, than the standard deals right now, so i have a feeling i should go for it, or i would miss this one too..

yeah, 100 more dollars and then the tax, which is like 120 dollars, this is already $220 cheaper, than this $404-off deal. the further 80 dollars for me is the additional battery i guess, but if u don't count that it's still $220 cheaper, which means, its like a $600-700 off which is really unusual, too bad i can't get a deal like this, now i would be happy with the $504 deal which is gone.

for the people who already have their new SXPS, did it actually take as long as Dell said it would to get to your house? Because I figure they must put some kind of padding in the estimate so people don't get pissed if it shows up late, right? So can I expect it maybe a few days before the estimated time of delivery?

I don't think so, until you receive a shipping notification there is no way of knowing how accurate their expected delivery date will prove to be. I haven't heard boo from Dell since my 6/26 order and so I'm doubting if my expected delivery date of 7/16 will be honored.

Haha..I'll try to be on to at least report if I got it or not. I might have a doctor's appointment tomorrow as well so if I don't show up then I'll definitely report something on Saturday.

The Dell order status page is showing this now:

    Shipping Method: 3-5 Business Days
    Shipped Date: 7/8/2009
    Estimated Delivery Date: 7/11/2009 (updated)
    Carrier: FEDEX GROUND

So I may not even end up getting the laptop until Saturday or later.

Those are some pretty good numbers given the fact that the xps 16 chip is only dual core. If you get a chance, can you post some pictures? I'd really like to see what the vents look like and if Dell altered the design at all. Once I get mine hopefully tomorrow or Saturday, I'm going to open it up and see if they changed the cooling system at all. I'll of course supply photos.

I would just like to know what the WE score for Gaming Graphics is with the 4670, Not the overall score just this area. And also does it still have the IR sensor in the front?

robstahl: i think, rendering an image requires pretty much only cpu and ram, so u would get similar results even with an integrated intel graphics card.

Can anyone post the parts list for the old SXPS 1640 with 3670 GPU for comparison?

Glad to hear it! I don't know why Fed-Ex ground takes so long to update. Have fun with your new toys tomorrow! :)

Edit: Joker, btw... what wireless card did you end up getting? The ultimate 5300 or the regular Wlan. Did anyone ever figure out the difference?

I got the 5300 WLAN card but my invoice lists it as the half mini card. It's definitely not the Ultimate N but I really have no idea what the difference would be between them.

Thanks Joker. Does anyone on the forums know the difference between the regular WLAN 5300 and the ultimate N 5300? I am thinking the ultimate N is the new revision of the 5300 but I could be wrong.

I guess both are pretty much the same, except that they're of different form factors - mini and half-mini cards. Also, the Ultimate 5300 comes with My WiFi, which is a software that allows you to connect upto 8 devices to your laptop...

I can imagine, the only reason I've been able to stay patient is because I've had this HP DV7 to tide me over. It's very close in performance to the SXPS 16 and feature wise it's not far off either. I'll be selling off the HP once the Dell arrives though. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day for me. Gotta unpack the new tv, test it and then sign off. Put together a new TV stand I purchased, wire all that crap together and then start putting the plasma into burn in mode. Once the laptop arrives, I plan to wipe Vista off it and go straight to Windows 7 and that's going to eat up most of the day. I will try to take pictures of the laptop and report on it's temps before I switch it over to Windows 7 so you guys at least have something to keep you entertained :) I may even throw in a video for $19.99!
