I will certainly do that.
-
Was yours Vista Ultimate? Maybe they give the CD for Ultimate? Who knows...
-
Geez, I hope this has an OS CD, but it needs PowerDVD too!
-
I just looked at my original order invoice and it has Roxio and Powerdvd mentioned, none of which I got.
-
My last comp they had to overnight me 3 sets of disks before they got the right combination of what i had ordered, but they did overnight those everytime.
-
That's funny I was just looking at mine also, I hope I get mine, how could they forget that stuff
Did you get the DELL RESOURCE DVD,BACK-UP,XPS 1640? -
Where did you guys see that remote feature section?
Does It matter that I'm on the canadian site? -
Where does it mention the remote?
-
Nope. All I got was a Microsoft Works cd.
-
Ya that's not cool
-
I never had a issue with missing software. It looks like these people are doing a rush job when they pack them. Either that or they're not maintaining a good software inventory. Well, if the notebook itself is ok, getting the software a few days later is not too bad, it could be worse.
-
Is it like the remote on the xps 1530? One that fits into a slot.
-
All you see on the website is In Production and Shipped. To find out what stage of production you are in you have to call Dell. But the automated order status only works for US orders.
-
vishank, from what I can tell you love the display. How's the resolution? Do you have to zoom in to see some of the smaller font web-based text?
Oh, congratulations by the way. -
Anyone know how to reinstall the Facial Recognition Software?
-
Well, I can tell that it is really small. With Windows 7, it gave me three options to scale the font size to. I left it at the original as I can see fine on websites e.g. this forum.
I do love the more real estate too. -
Vista Premium 64 Bit
No I have not been able to find that yet either. -
I don't see the driver or update for it on Dell.
[Not to nag, but...] Is the remote like the one from xps 1530? -
I have no clue as I did not get one.
-
That's one of the things holding me back ( I would prefer a 1600x900 WLED), along with the lack of a blu-ray writer. Actually with the blu-ray writer, I have a feeling that I'll only burn 2 or 3 blu-ray discs during the 1st year, but for some reason I want that feature.
Anyway, one more question for tonight, do have any simulation games like FSX, Sims & RCT3 that you could test in the next day or two? -
No sorry I don't. A 1600x900 WLED would have the best of both worlds, and prolly would be ideal. However, i still do not regret this purchase.
Regarding Bluray, I do also feel that I maybe should've gotten the bluray drive having a 1080p RGBLED screen and all, but I think I will wait until it gets cheaper (hardware and movie wise) until I upgrade. -
I ordered mine on the 16th... But, then they canceled that order, and replaced it with an identical one on the 20th. Be interesting to see when I actually get it here in Vancouver compared to you!
-
sonoritygenius Goddess of Laptops
Ahhh, thanks for the official or unofficial lounge =) Much deserved that rumour thread was jam packed lmao
Now to debate between 1340 and 1640 lol
-
Why did they cancel it?
-
That's explained here.
Specifically this part:
-
Hell if I know!
-
Is that large power transformer just a 65W transformer or is it something bigger like a 90w? I ordered a 1340 with 9400m only so I thought it'd get by with just 65w, in which case I'd expect a smaller transformer. If the stock 65w transformer is that big it looks like the "65 watt slim combo power" version for travel will be an important accessory.
-
I've just purchased/ordered my 1640 from Dell Singapore website.
For SGD 2,720.85 (after SGD 400 off) ~= USD 1,808.47 I got the following configuration:
P8600
Vista Home Premium 64-bit
1080P LCD
Blu-ray drive
4GB dual channel RAM (2x2GB)
Intel 5300 wireless card
3 years XPS premier service and 3 years Complete Cover
laptop sleeve -
On my order page for the 1340, I have a 90W AC adapter listed, which seems like the big one. That is baaaaad! I got the 9500M GPU but I don't think that should make a difference.
-
On my order it shows 65W so it looks like the power supply depends upon whether you got the 9400m or 9500m. Makes sense the stock power supply varies depending upon hardware config since I read posts where people were complaining about the 65w travel charger not having enough power depending upon the laptop config.
-
Actually, it's a little known fact that the 2nd graphics card in the 9500M hybrid SLI system is contained in the AC adaptor rather than the laptop, which is the real reason why it only activates when on AC power (cleverly disguised as "performance mode").
That way Dell can brag about how "slim" and "light" the laptop is when you're really carrying around part of it in a huge power brick. -
Really? I had no idea. I'd rather take a smaller power adapter than more graphics juice. Do you think there's a way to change the configuration now that it's in build phase? I wish I had known that earlier =(. That's pretty sneaky on their part I must admit. Maybe I will return or cancel. Is there a way to get a 65W power adapter for traveling purposes?
By the way, if Dell thinks this laptop is light for a 13 inch, they're definitely mistaken. The 1330 was light, this is average or slightly heavier than average at best. -
Dell better patent that before Apple steals the idea.
-
technically, its not possible
-
It looks like on the Dell accessories page, the 65W adapter also is big. The only small one is the slim adapter. I wonder what my friend's 1330 had since it was pretty small.
-
I noticed in the pictures that the sticker for the intel processor says Intel Centrino, don't these notebooks have Centrino 2 processors?
-
im thinking about getting new studio xp 1340 ireally likes its appearance
here is the configuration i used
idont know if ill go in it or not because there is no review of this laptop yet i saw the 16 review and its cool ?? any one got this 13laptop want to share some experience -
If your base system requires a 90w power supply then I'd be worried that the 65w travel charger will not work with your system. Other users reported the 65w travel charger would be unable to charge the battery while the system is in use and/or the system would complain about it not being 90w.
I bet the pic in the accessory page is not a 65w charger. The travel charger I'm thinking of is here:
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...=19&sku=310-8814&mfgpid=200802&chassisid=8549
and says "50% smaller in volume and 40% lighter than the Dell Combination Adapter.".
BTW, for reference, my 1340 order shows:
Code:Item Number Quantity Item Description 330-3296 1 65 WATT AC ADPTR, NB ST
-
anywhere you can back this up please? im interested in info about this.
-
That was a very obvious joke. The 9500M is a discrete 9200GS plus an integrated 9400M in hybrid SLI. There is certainly no hidden video card in the power brick.
How would it even be possible to transmit high-bandwidth data signals through the power cable? -
Yeh whats the beef with this?
BTW, IM still waiting for my Studio XPS 1640
-
The 9200m is not in the powerbrick as is being suggested.
A dell rep told me that if you unplug the power it will automatically run in power-saving mode, however you can still turn on hybrid sli when running on battery via the system tray. -
Have any of you folks done a clean install on this machine as of yet? I'm on the fence between an M1530 and the 1640, and I'm interested in hearing how things are going w/this new lappy. Thanks! - M
-
Videos Please!
-
I have clean installed Windows 7 on my lappy.
-
Is it the beta version, & is it registered?
-
How warm does your palm rest get? Mine gets pretty warm just browsing the net. I played some games last night and could not really keep my palms on the laptop for extended periods of time. I thought I had the 5200 RPM drive, but looked up my order and I did get the 7200 RPM.
-
omg, that's not very good, that hot?
Do you live in a hot place, weather wise and house wise -
Illinois. 68-70 in the house. 20-30's outside currently.
It gets warmed towards the trackpad since that is where the broadband card and wifi cards sit. With it being a glossy palm rest...that plus heat make for a weird combo haha.
I was just hoping it would be cooler....or made of a different material. -
Beta registered with the key I got from Microsoft
