1600x900, I think would be just right. perfect 16:9! I have the 720p, and the 1600x900 wasn't offered last summer when I got my SXPS16. 720 has good sized text, but I could definitely benefit from some more pixels. 1080 is very high res but I probably wouldn't find it too practical on a 16" or 15.6" screen.

I chatted with a Dell US rep today. I wanted to get an i7 XPS 16 but I know my wife is going to frown at the 1920x1080 resolution. After being unable to spec an i7 model out with the HD+ panel (900P) I was told that the FHD 15.6 (1080p) is the standard entry on i7 models. So if you are wanting the i7 based XPS you are only going to have the 1920x1080 option be it in 15.6" WLED or 16" RGB

Me: "looking at studio xps 16"
Agent: "that's ok, how may I help you today ?"
Me: "is there no way to config the i7 model with the HD+ display instead of the FHD display"
Agent: "Sure, I will be glad to help you with that :)
please give me 2 minutes to check with the info"
Agent: "Full HD Widescreen 15.6 inch WLED LCD (1920x1080) W/2.0 MP is the standard model"
    Agent: "for the i-7"
Me: "yeah, so no way to put the HD+/900P display panel on an i7 model ?"
Me: "even though they have that display panel for that case"
Agent: "i am sorry, we don't have that option"
