It works for me, probably because it was Czech Dell's site.
Here is the English one:

But as Some Tech Noob said, it may brick the laptop, so I guess it is risky.

I'm 99% sure the Dynamic Brightness Control utility is only for the QHD+ screens, and not for use with the FHD. The FHD panels don't have the ability to have their firmware flashed, I believe.
I was too curious and tried flashing the DBC off on my 1080p i5/8gb/128GB. I then went to reboot the machine and it never started up again. Sent it to dell to get it repaired. It was flashing error codes. Oops. -
Dell Xps 13 Kaby Lake almost as fast as Skylake!!!

"Our initial results and impressions are sobering: The system fan is often running, even without noteworthy CPU load. Our test model also has problems with coil whining, which is already notorious for XPS 13 models."

That notebookcheck.net review is a fantastic read. I don't think the authors (Klaus Hinum, J. Simon Leitner) will be targeted as Dell shills.
Unfortunately, the 9360 Kaby Lake performance stats really disappoint. I expected a minor performance bump and some of the early bugs to be sorted. But it looks like Dell released another XPS without completing full beta testing.
If I were in the market, I might go for a 9350 Skylake (refurb) for similar performance and lower price. More importantly, the 9350 has one year of in-the-field beta testing complete, along with BIOS and driver updates. And a year of troubleshooting posts here to help...PAPPL likes this. -

I have trouble recommending this laptop since it just feels like a beta product in so many ways. Mostly QC and software bugs. And I guess it'll continue with Kaby Lake.

I guess it comes down to buying a 9350 with 1 year of field testing and some bugs or buying a 9360 in beta with no field testing...

After the yesterday's windows update I have got two updates one is "Intel(R) Corporation - Audio Device - Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) Audio Controller" and the other "Intel(R) Corporation driver update for Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) Audio Controller". After this I did not get any sound, the sound picture on the bar down was with a red cross. I installed again the realtec audio driver and I have sound but the device manager has an unidentified device called "Intel high definition DSP". How is it possible to remove it? How can I remove the two drivers that are not for our Dell XPS 13 9350?
Also we have got today the DELL security tool that I had also in my old HP 8760W workstation since 2011, that had a fingerprint reader but we have not a fingerprint reader in our XPS and unfortunately we do not the correct camera for face recognition with windows 10 Hallo. Why they gave us this software? -
Thank you. I did it but in the uninstall updated it do not show these updated. It shows only 9 older updates other from the one I want to unistall like from adobe. I think that for a little while my system showed like it was the XPS 15 and windows update as well dell update showed and installed wrong updates. How can I see all the installed updates in Unistall Updates window?

Fixed my random bluetooth disconnect problems by replacing the Dell Wireless Card with an INTEL Dual Band Wireless-8260 card for 20€ and installing Intel Wireless Bluetooth Software for Windows 10.
Bluetooth audio reconnects every time now, even after standby.
So if you need working bluetooth, simply rip the Dell Wireless 1820A card out of your device, all other software workarounds did not work.
I'll never buy a Dell beta product again.

I did the same in my 9350 to address similar issues with my Bluetooth mouse.

So apparently the non-touch FHD model of the new 9360 does not have CABC
Someone on reddit confirmed using the CABC tool that fades an image in and same results on the 9360 and 9550

I should follow up on this by noting that before switching out the 1820A and putting in the 8260 that I tried the 7265. What I have found with both of these chips is that while Bluetooth connectivity works really well, the Internet speeds I see with these are worse than with the 1820A. The speeds start out equivalently high as the 1820A on both 2.4 and 5GHz but after a short while they drop. e.g., measuring on both speedtest.net and xfinity speed test, I see 90Mbps for a while on 5GHz but after a short while when I retest I get speeds at about 20Mbps. If I restart the laptop, the fast-slow cycle starts over and the behavior is consistent. 2.4GHz acts the same but with lower top speeds. With the 1820A I see no similar drop in speeds over similar time frames. I am using the latest Intel drivers and I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling them. Any thoughts on what might be happening?
-
sparksd, I also did the switch to the 8260 and I noticed that the card would always want to prefer the 2.4 Ghz. On 2.4 it's about the same as the 1820A, but on 5 Ghz I consistently get between 80 to 115. What I did was in wireless card properties in device manager was set preferred band as 5Ghz. Hope that helps.

Thanks. I tried that but it made no difference. I've also made sure that all power mgmt. is off and that data metering is off.
edit: I just ran a test where in the same location and on the same 5GHz network I got 28Mbps on the XPS 13 with the 8260 but 65Mbps on both my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phone and iPad Air 2. An hour ago I was getting about 70Mbps on the XPS 13 and it was only on screensaver during the intervening hour.Last edited: Oct 10, 2016 -
Where did you get it?

I got a 8260 off amazon for like $20

Same here.

I have a question: My 9350 screen recently has had a very bad light bleed. And it is still on the warranty time. So will I get the service of fixing that problem.
It's really annnoying watching movie, especially in a dark room -

Got my laptop back after 2 weeks at the repair center. They ended up replacing the screen, motherboard, and heatsink/fan. There's still some minor coil whine, but my matte 1080p with its peeling bezel has been replaced by the higher res 1800p touch panel. It will be interesting to see how battery life fares.
-
Anybody thinking about putting the new 960 EVO in their xps once it actually hits the stores? Do you think it'll have an effect on battery life?
-
I would be tempted to try one but I am fortunate that my XPS 13 came equipped with one of those slick Toshiba XG3 drives. It's 'only' the 256GB version so it doesn't quite have the performance of the higher capacity models, but it's still a rocket compared to the SATA SSD drives I've used in the past.
I wonder how many XPS 13's shipped with the Toshiba drive? -
Hoping for a significant price drop on the 950, if not, I'll go with a 960. Waiting till black friday/cyber monday.

Can you post Crystal Disk and AsSSD screenshots here?
-
Sure thing! I've got a Crystal Mark screenshot to share and will post the other as soon as I figure out how to attach photos to my posts. I'm a total newbie here!
EDIT: For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to attach images to postings. Can anybody provide quick instructions, please and thanks? I wish to attach images that are stored locally on my PC. I don't subscribe to any sharing sites, FWIW.Last edited: Nov 3, 2016 -
Can anyone confirm if this USB-C adapter to HDMI will display two 1440p monitors? As it reads, it does not, with a max resolution of 2048 x 1152:

emike, if it's not too much trouble, can you tell me how to attach images? I've checked out Albums, Media Gallery and all that stuff without ever once coming across an "upload" or "create" button.
Thanks! -

Just upload to imgur.com and c/p the link. Probably the easiest and most foolproof way. -
My apologies for the huge image. Here is one of the benchmarks of the Toshiba XG3 SSD that my XPS 13 was factory configured with:

Those are some good looking speeds. Much, much faster than the measly 128GB Samsung CM871.
I did pick up a Sandisk X110 250GB as an upgrade though. I'll probably be back to post a little update with the speeds of that drive as well. It's not NVME, but it was cheap. -

Here's the performance of the Sandisk X110 250GB SSD after installing it in the XPS 13. This drive is pretty rare but I thought I'd post it anyways.
A very sizeable increase when compared to the stock 128GB Samsung CM871. -
Hi,
I'm looking for a good coupon for the new XPS 13 from Dell, I'll be in the US next week and looking for a good price. Does anyone have a good coupon?? -
is there any solution to the jumping trackpad (2 finger scroll) or the coil whine? 6 months since I have this laptop and still the trackpad is really jumpy and the coil whine sound is very load. I tried everything to fix it with no luck.
Last edited: Nov 12, 2016 -
Coil whine is a hardware issue, trackpad is software, I dont have the jumping anymore on the recent slow ring insider builds. It's Microsoft creating the driver for the trackpad and its built into the OS and its updates.
-
thanks for reply. which insider build do you have? -
Try this

Thanks, I did it and also I set Friction to 2. Looks like its better now =)Kikuri likes this.

That is a noticeable increase. Those write speeds are much improved.

Ok, it's a great machine (QHD i7 16GB 512GB), but several issues really annoy me:
- Machine wakes up from standby (if I remember correctly even hibernate) randomly, sometimes while in a bag, getting extremely hot (could be resolved by now, haven't had it in a couple of days and never figured out how to reproduce the error)
- I was not able to find a 12V charging solution. I have tried different adapters, that actually power the device, but due to electronic handshake with Dell charger it does not want to charge the battery. Thunderbolt / USB type C chargers would also be great, if they work well.
- Space bar is very lazy, really have to press it much harder than enjoyable. I got spoiled with my thinkpad x220 keyboard, now got used to the new keyboard, but not the space bar.
- Dell Support Assist tells me to upgrade Intel Serial IO drivers, installs 'new' drivers, restarts the system and is back to where it was before, asking for upgrade again. Updating manually did not resolve. Seems to be fine, just thought it might relate to first point.
- strange noise from screen when scrolling (coil whining)
- crashes of Adobe Premiere
- most trackpad issues
-
For (1), I disabled hibernate and have not seen my QHD i7 unit wake up from sleep on its own since (it had occurred several times prior). I still see (4) but just ignore it.
-
How?
-
I had to have my mainboard replaced due to defect charging port, this reduced it a bit, and then I think it might be dust and dirt dampening the buzzing noise accumulating over time wherever this comes from. But it is still there, just very silent.
-
My thoughts about the coil whine is that it should be also a software issue. When I turn on the laptop sounds much less than when I wake up after some time of sleep mode...something happens with this cycle sleep-wake up in windows 10 xD
-
what size is this ssd -
The SSD is 256GB in size. I purchased the XPS Gold edition with the Iris 540 graphics.
-
I recently purchased an XPS 9350 i7 and it suffered from the usual issues posted by many on here:
Noticeable coil whine
Screen flicker
Very Imprecise trackpad
I replaced the factory Toshiba XG3 SSD with a Samsung SM951 512gb and the coil whine stopped completely.
I then installed a fresh install of Windows 10 and bypassed Dell's own drivers sticking with Microsoft, Samsung and Intel.
All the above issues have been resolved, the trackpad is much more accurate particularly with two finger scrolling. -
