Dell NL offered me a replacement battery for just under 60€ (or to have them send a tech out to replace it for around 200€) so I will finally get around to replacing my battery, which I have been meaning to do for quite a while. I haven't done any tech repair in several years, but it doesn't seem particularly hard, and the price they quoted me was actually cheaper than almost all of the non-original batteries I've seen, so I'm happy I took the time to ask for a quote.

The total cost was 46.63€ before VAT, 56.42€ including VAT.
No shipping charge, but it took around a week before they shipped it with UPS.

    Changing it was super easy.
Long story short, I should have done this a long time ago - but it was very nice to go from 86% battery degradation to 4.7%

    My usage update:
After the last Windows Updates which gave me some new bugs i got angry.
In the past months i've been switching many Linux distros on Dell XPS 13 9350.

    Debian based:
Ubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu Mate, Ubuntu Budgie, MX Linux

    Arch based:
Manjaro Budgie, Manjaro XFCE, Antergos, Manjaro KDE.

All of them work out of the box. All drivers are already inside the kernel, so everything works on first boot. Steam runs all my windows games with Proton (Steam Play for all titles) enabled.

I'll stay with Manjaro KDE now.
It's fast, beautiful, uses under 500MB RAM on boot, uses a great GUI software repo (AUR enabled in the Software Center) and is very stable.
It's very easy to undervolt and fancontrol the XPS laptop in Linux. No fans running anymore until Steam is in use. :)
The USB-C/Thunderbolt dock works well with two external monitors too.

    Finally i'm happy again.

I had a rather major issue with the screen last night. It simply wasn't displaying anything, I'd never seen it do that. The output via the thunderbolt port was working so I could at least check that the laptop display was detected. After a bit of searching online, the only working solution I found was to open the laptop and disconnect and then reconnect the battery. Luckily this is just a small cable connector to remove, no need to remove the battery itself.

Hope this helps any other owner who runs into this!

    New BIOS available:
    Version 1.11.1

    - Fixed the issue where the BitLocker prompts for recovery. It occurs when Auto Power On option in BIOS setup is set to wake up the system at a specific time.
    - Firmware updates to address security advisory INTEL-SA-00213 (CVE-2019-0086, CVE-2019-0091, CVE-2019-0092, CVE-2019-0093, CVE-2019-0094 and CVE-2019-0096).
    - Removed the pre-boot Intel RST Manager Optimized Defaults option.
    - Fixed the issue where the mouse lags when the Dell TB16 dock is unplugged or plugged in.

My 9350 won't charge with OEM charger. I set battery settings to default, it fixed the problem for a short while and won't charge again. It just won't recognize the DELL 45W charger start from last year.

It charges with the DELL 130W charge came with XPS 9560. USB-C charge also works. I searched and there is solution. Just FYI.

Could someone please point me in the direction of the thread describing the steps to perform a clean install? Also I'd like to replace my SSD as my current SSD performance is as follows

Still happily rocking my XPS 13 9350 of four years now.

I've noticed a little swelling of the trackpad, which causes the left click to be unresponsive a lot.
It's my fault as I once replaced the CPU thermal paste with a cheap chinese brand, which causes a rise in temps.
I've fixed all of that. My question is, is there a way to fix the trackpad? It was easy enough to get into the laptop and try to reseat the trackpad, but it did not work.

I mostly have it docked so it hasn't been an issue, though occasionally I do want to take with.

For me it sounds like swollen battery which pushed track pad. Common issue I'm XPS line.

Yep my shoddy thermal paste caused heat issues. Luckily I caught it early enough.

What is everyone getting for thermals with an undervolt and nothing else? A lot of people claim 70C temps, but I can't get below 90 when running prime95. This is with -100 mV on core and cache too, and I know that the undervolt is working because the system crashes instantly at -125 mv. i7-6560u

That happened with mine. It was a swollen battery. Replace it... Pretty easy to do and all will be good again!

    Cheers,

Just wanted to update. I replaced my swollen battery and now the trackpad is leveled again and battery life much better!
