    agudallago,

See below for the link to all of the XPS 15 9550 screws and keep the site handy as it definitely looks like a great resource for spare parts for any laptop.

    Kind Regards,

Thanks for the lead. I already e-mailed them to see if I can get the bottom cover torx screws which I tried to get from Dell. Dell wants $2 each for them and then sent my the wrong ones. After that they told me that they were out of stock and to call back in a 'few months'.

I just installed the new Intel graphics beta driver (4440) the other night and now everytime I put the computer to sleep by closing the lid, the computer resets upon opening the lid. Anyone else experiencing this issue after installing the drivers? Not sure if they are related. TYIA!

I would start with the event viewer then look at the crash dumps with "whocrashed" before changing things.

The only annoying issue I am currently having with my XPS 15 is with the dedicated HDMI port not waking the monitor from power saving mode. My system is not sleeping, but I do have "Turn Off Display" set to 10 minutes.

When I go to use my system and use my mouse or keyboard, the monitor doesn't wake. I have to turn the monitor off and back on to get it to display my desktop. I'll add that my monitor resumes as expected with my wife's laptop and my old laptop.

I decided to try the Dell USB-C to HDMI adapter, and IT WORKED AND RESUMED FINE!!! I couldn't believe it! Still, I'd rather use the dedicated HDMI port than have to use a USB-C adapter.

So, is anyone else having this exact problem? I've searched the thread and found several people having this issue with resuming from sleep, but I'm not sure if people are having the issue with resuming from "turn off display".

Is this likely a BIOS issue, Intel Graphics driver issue, or a hardware issue?

    Thanks!

I tested it: I was able to reproduce it one time, I had to unplug and replug the cable to get the picture back. But multiple times I did not have the problem, I could wake the laptop screen with the HDMI device attached as well and both screens came on back correctly from the energy saving state. Mabe I will try again tomorrow if I can reproduce it more often and see if I can find out more.

As for my system: I am using BIOS 1.1.9 and graphics drivers from Dell's site from the end of March.

I am very interested in multi-monitor related issues with the XPS. A few pages back I was curious about experience of other people when using USB-C adapters for displays. For example, my HDMI adapter causes excessive fan noise after a short while, even though my main temps seem low. What about you, any changes with fan noise after 10 minutes?

If your monitor has multiple inputs ( most do) make sure to set it to the HDMI input and not to "auto". That fixed the problem for me.

I'm on BIOS 1.2.0 using the latest .4440 Intel Beta, but I've had the problem with each Intel and Dell driver.

The fan does seem to be staying on with the USB-C to HDMI adapter, but it doesn't seem to be all that loud... I had to put my ear up to it to hear it.

I have the U2415, and it does NOT have an "auto" input mode. The user must select a specific input.

That said, I have ruled out the monitor, as it doesn't have this problem with 3 other computers I've tested with (all on Windows 10)... Just the XPS 15 9550.

Since your monitor does not have an "auto" input select mode then that's obviously not your problem. However, just to be clear, my monitor did not have the problem with any other computers either. It was just the combination of using the HDMI output on my 9550 and "auto" input mode on my monitor that exhibited the problem.

Good to know others have this issue with the 9550... Gives me hope that it is a software issue that will get fixed eventually.

Today was the day they wanted to pick up my broken device, what should I say? I´ve waited the whole day, but nobody came here. They will get an angry call tomorrow, besides my new device should arrive tomorrow, too. I hope they didn´t send a broken device again. Service failed imo.

Found out that this company will only sell you a complete set of screws for the whole notebook for $25.00. They won't sell any separately.

Sorry man I guess there's no profit in selling customers just a few needed screws so it's either all or nothing! :-(

I would just send emails to all the DELL authorized repair shops and maybe you will get someone that will say "What the heck" and just send you a couple or just charge you a few bucks for 1 or 2.

If I do hear of anything or where they can possibly be obtained I will be sure to let you know.

    Best of Luck,
    SD

Try sending an email to DELL sales (See Below) and just explain to them what happened, within warranty guidelines of course, and they might just charge you a few bucks for a couple of screws or better yet just send them to you.

    Good Luck,

No you don't, why should you. They missed the arranged slot and that isn't your fault. They have to cater to you, after all they want back the rather expensive laptop you have!

I am in a similar situation where had a faulty 9530 with some issues. They had to replace the screen and the palmrest so the laptop was like new essentially.

After that i still had issues and I persuated them to give me a new free 9550 and pick up my old 9530.

They mixed up the dates they were supposed to pick it up and they came in earlier, but I couldnt give my laptop wihtout a new one I couldnt work( funniest thing ever, a guy came to get the laptop and a few minutes later anothe rone came to give me a bod to put it in :p)

Anyway they never picked it up from me ( 3 montths ago) so my sister will enjoy a rather new 9530 for free..... The problems it had were windows 10 graphcis drivers related ( the intel graphics drivers would crash and bring the laptop down with tjem). I figured out a way to solve it so no problems now.

This time round (as in my 9530 being swapped for a 9550) took 4 months start to finish to get 4 systems, but look on the bright side you get to keep this system until the next one is ready and can simply swap the SSD over when the replacement arrives so long as it is acceptable. It's an easy job to swap the entire lid to a good body if needs be. I was prepared to do that as my 4th would be my last before a refund so it had to be ok!

Don't make the mistake of asking, Those Dell customer support reps need telling you are rejecting this one and will not entertain an engineer visit for a new laptop.

In games and benchmarks it is, but Dell use a pre applied paste pad that leaves a lot of paste on the CPU/GPU so a repaste will help a bit.
