Is this going to be easy doing it on a Dell XPS 13" 2-in-1 9365?
1. I change my BIOS to AHCI from RAID and my computer did not work anymore. It was like 5 minutes before I see the BIOS screen. I was in panic mode n had to call Dell.
2. I have a NMVe SSD from Dell and why is my laptop in RAID?
3. I have created a bootable W10 with Rufus and its on a microSD card. Can I use it on the aptop or do I need a USB-C flash drive? -
1163 posts and you asked questions 1 & 2, shame on you
- If you googlefu it you would see you need to set the laptop in safe mode before you make the change to AHCI if you want to boot windows, once back in you can disable safe mode. It doesn't matter if you are going to clean install.
- Because they do an all for one process for all specs, while it will work in raid it is far from ideal. Setups with a cache drive need raid.
- Should work find so long as the BIOS has an option to boot from the card reader!

I cant read thru all the posts as its alot and I have a 9365 and its the same process for 9550?
See, I did this yesterday and I didnt have a good experience, that is why I ask more. I am just not sure. -
As I said, it should be the same but without having one??

I did a clean install on the non-flip XPS 13. Everything worked like a charm. I had a USB bootable drive. Good luck. Make sure to reset your BIOS to default and try again. That's what I did and presto.

I have not yet do a retail install of my 9365.
I did some benchmark on the NVMe and it is pretty bad. I wonder what causes it. The raid drivers?
Can I post the AS SSD screenshot of it? -
Unless you have a retail pro key to use of course.
Not sure about your speed issues, does that laptop only support 2x PCIe on SSD or 4x like the XPS15?
host the image anywhere and link it here. -
Here are the AS SSD screenshot:

The Samsung have better hardware? It is a EVO, not a PRO.
But my NMVe is just a little better than a SSD on my Dell laptop??? It drop the ball on 4K Write. WOW! -

Good day GoNzo, I'm new here and been following the thread recently after I found out that this is still running.
I followed your guide and re-installed windows 10 since my previous install became unstable and resulted to a lot of BSODs.
The error is usually Critical_Process_Died and Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error. I followed the workaround in the net but it didn't worked for me.
So I install the iso from your thread. it is much stable, but I just want to ask if sudden and random freezing is normal? does it happen to you?
I normally encounter this when I'm multitasking. but even so, i believe the laptop should handle it easy.
for your reference, my config is the i7, 4kUHD touch, 512 gb, 32GB ram (upgraded) XPS 15 9550.
thank you and i'll return on backreading again... -
It may be the SSD driver or the Intel GPU driver.
You may be able to roll back the drivers?ravenn411 likes this. -
Hi I'm new too. I just have some questions. I have Dell XPS 9550 1tb SSD Windows 10 Home. Made mistake not to buy with Win. Pro. Regret it now. All I want to get rid of or replace Home to Pro on the Factory Setting/Recovery Partition. I asked to Dell C.S. to buy the same SSD with Win. 10 Pro, But They said 'You can't'. By this method will be an another factory hidden partition in SSD?
Should I always use the USB to recovery, or How can I get back to the factory settings.Thanks.Last edited: May 26, 2017 -
Not sure why you're asking in this threat but buy a pro key and change the licence, no reinstall needed. Google will tell you the rest.

hi, used the iso here but I'm getting a failed win 10 activation message. i have the top spec 9560 and choose windows 10 home when installing. any ideas? Thanks

M.
Ant other ideas? Would it be worth trying the 'US' iso? -
-
Thanks for your response, however, I can only roll back the Intel Graphics Driver.
Regarding the SSD driver, I'm not sure how.
May I request for instructions how to do it or do you have a link where I can just browse the procedure.
By any means, thank you.
PS: i think i haven't updated my NVMe driver yet. I checked Samsung's website, and it says the driver version is currently at 2.2. Mine is this:
At this moment, after finishing the final edit of my reply, I haven't encountered the random freezing I mentioned 3 days ago. Everything runs smoothly up to now.Last edited: May 28, 2017 -
Hi GoNz0,
Massive thanks for your post and your ISO! I will try it out this weekend.
Is it safe to re-install the Dell Update Application after the clean W10 install to keep the drivers updated? Would you recommend it? -
-
Thanks for the quick replay!
I performed the clean W10 install and everything seems good so far except for the audio. I get the following error if I put my mouse over the speaker icon in the bottom-right of the windows bar: "No Audio Output Device is installed". Did I miss something? Should I install the audio drivers manually?
If so, there are 2 drivers in the Dell support website for audio, but I can't install both (I've tried in a previous attempt of a clean install, the second install asked me to remove the previous one). Is there any difference between the two (as far as you know)?
Sorry... lots of questions for a simple issue. Thank you in advance for your time! -
Have you checked device manager?
It's this http://www.dell.com/support/home/uk/en/ukbsdt1/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=44M2C -
The file you linked should be a newer version of one of the two files I called "driver" above. I tried to install your file, but the installation process failed. I tried the previous version and now everything works just fine.
If anyone needs it, this is the link to the file I used:
http://www.dell.com/support/home/it...-15-9550-laptop&languageCode=it&categoryId=AU
Thank you again GoNz0! -
That's a bit random, with it being an old file I would try and update via device manager and if that finds nothing try windows update?
-
Is it possible to get multilanguage ISO for Windows 10 Pro?

Hi GoNz0,
it took a while for me to properly check the system after the clean install. At first, everything appeared to be fine and smooth. After a few days I began noticing some random "windows freeze" events while watching movies or browsing. The image and the sound stop, I can still exit the full screen mode, but the system is stuck soon after. Sometimes I am able to switch to another application (if it is already open) and I was able to look at the task manager that showed a 99% disk usage without any application or services actually using it (at this point only the cursor and the scroll work, the click does not and the system is stuck).
I have the stock Samsung PM951 SSD and I have read that this might cause some problems on the XPS 9500 in ACHI mode, but I am not 100% sure that this is the problem. The freezes do not occur every time I use the PC and I see them more often if the room temperature is higher, so my second guess is that it might be a thermal-related issue. I am going to try some stress tests to verify this.
Do you have any idea how to solve this issue? Is it possible that I messed up something during the Windows 10 installation? -
-
I tried to update from 2.2 to the latest 2.3 version with no results.
The stress test did not cause any instability, but I was able to replicate the issue watching 3 movies simultaneously on three different applications.
Before the clean install I was using the default settings with RAID mode instead of ACHI. Could this be the problem? Is it possible to switch from ACHI to RAID in bios without reinstalling windows? Or can I disable the SATA operation from bios and verify the stability of the system this way? -

After performing a clean install of Windows 10 from the ISO on OneDrive, it took quite a while to install all updates. Furthermore, it had to install two drivers from Dell's website: Intel Rapid Storage Technology and Graphics drivers. Additionally, I installed manually the drivers for the Realtek sound card, since had no sound.

Does anyone have any idea why it couldn't find the windows image backup I created before on external storage but it does show all the other image backup of another pc I have in this same external storage?
EDIT: I'm trying to image restore the 9550 and I'm having this issue only while trying to image restore. I can see the image backup on the external storage no problem when logged in to windows on another pc -
