There is only one shop in the EU which is guaranteed to sell the original screen, all the other ones are likely to sell 'compatible' ones. Look at the sellers in the LCD Wiki in my signature!
Here is the direct link: B156HW01 V.4, 15,6", LED, FULL HD! matt! | eBay

    Hello,

I´m blocked a couple of months due to problems with the cable (DD0GM6LC140) in the screen swap on my L501X.

After 2 bad experiences in HK, I decided to buy it in PCFX Ltd (although it seemed too expensive) and they sent me twice a wrong cable (DD0GM6LC240)

Can anyone recommend a reliable shop?

    Regards

    Thanks.
Even if more expensive, I have finally bought it here, on his dedicated website (since there's a 2€ discount vs ebay). I didn't succeed to find a reliable seller of LP156WD1-TLB1. I should receive it saturday or next week (due to the public holidays).

    Hi,
I have bought an original Dell cable in HK ( eBay | Original NEW Genuine DELL XPS L501X L502X V73D3 HD LCD Cable DD0GM6LC140). I should receive it soon enough. Then I let you know if it's all good.

Okay so I received the cable yesterday, and it's actually not the right cable. The seller sent me a 0TGMNC DD0GM6LC230 cable wich doesn't work properly, since it can't obviously handle a FHD display.

Hi guys! A friend of mine has a L501X notebook with the original standard glossy screen (1366x768). I read the first post and I know that he needs the 0V73D3 cable to install the FullHD screen. Since he has no particular needs, do you have some 1366x768 matte screen to advise me?
I'm Italian and sorry for my bad English...
    :)

Then he should go for a B156XW02 V1 or V3 screen. It's the same standard screen but with matte display.

    Hi

I bought a dell xps l502x a while back, long story short I needed to upgrade the screen and having looked at numerous videos and threads I thought I could manage it. However I've now run into a few problems and I would really appreciate the help From you guys.

Laptop details/My previous set up was...

Dell XPS 15 l502x, windows 7, service tag number 9LT7RQ1

    Screen details 1366 x 768 samsung 15.6 HD, DP / N 08MN61, CN - 08MN61 - 21323 - 16H - N2K8 - A00, LTN156AT02, 5KBEGC712E D09

    Ribbon/ screen cable Details

    GM6 LVDS cable HD, DD0GM6LC240, 110603 3B, LNT 1/6/3, DP / N 0TGMNC, CN - 0TGMNC - 74876 - 163 - 021H - A00

    New Screen Details...

    AU Optronics, model number - B156HW02 V.1, manufactured 12/46, *67257CB4CCZZ - PS0111*

    New Ribbon/ screen cable

    CN - 0TGMNC - 74210 - 18M - 00C6 - A00, DP / N 0TGMNC, GM6 LCD Cable HD, DD0GM6LC230, 11/08/22 Ver. 3A

I bought the parts thinking I had the right ones and everything should just work. I put everything together and as soon as I switched it on, the screen had a white tint/ foggy effect on it. I saw a few threads that mentioned I needed the right screen cable otherwise this is what will happen so I made sure I got the correct cable according to the forums and the site I purchased it off. The cable I went for was V73D3. I've also attached the cables a second time just in case there was a bad connection. Don't know what else I can do, have I received the wrong cable or did I opt for the wrong cable and help would be VERY much Appreciated.

The place and cable I purchased

NEW GENUINE DELL XPS 15 L501X L502X LED HD CABLE V73D3 | eBay

    Which screen I bought

    Hi,

you should have read my post last page, because I explain there this very problem.
You need a DD0GM6LC140. The DD0GM6LC230 cable cannot handle a FHD display.

Beside that, the Amazon page has very few details about your new screen. Is it an AUO or LG screen ? Which part number is it ?

I know this thread has been dead for a while, but i've been following it for a while now and have bought a few things related to this thread. I got the LG LP156WF1-TLF3 and was hoping that this works correctly. I also go the ribbon to go along with it V73D3. The screen boots up and everything is gravy till I hit the login screen. It stays black and nothing happens...so here I am with my laptop hooked up to my 50'' samsung flatscreen trying to figure out what's going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I cannot find a single answer on this.

Did you try booting up in safe mode to properly reinstall the graphics driver?

I can log in fine through the hdmi port commected to a tv. Do I just uninstall there and re install the nvideadriver? For some reason safe mode will start and then just sit there and say please wait. Then restart to normal mode...normamode works like I said on the hdmi to tv.

Did you wait enough? The safe mode can be quite slow to load up. The problem is that you absolutely need to boot in safe mode to clean the old drivers.

But you may try something to be sure that the problem comes from the drivers. Download any linux distro (ubuntu or linux mint) and use it to boot up from a usb key. You'll see if the screen works or not.
You can use UNetbootin to perform this in one click.

Okay got safe mode working, it appears AVG was blocking me from going into safe mode..so I just uninstalled that. Now I uninstalled Nvidea 435m driver and it started up for me with the screen working. It installed it again automatically and had me restart the computer for it to take effect. Now the screen is black again. I'm assuming 435m is not compatible with this screen?

If it was hardware, the screen would be black from scratch.

Is it still black when you boot up from linux ?

Honestly I've never booted from linux so that's new to me so no I didn't use linux to boot up. Also I ended up trying the LG LP156WF1 (TL)(B1) to see if that would work. The screen is doing the same thing. Starts up great, works in safe mode, install the nvid 435m driver then, restart, works great till login screen(BLACK but lit up)

As I said, you only need UNetbootin and a usb key. One click and a key to press, nothing complicated, honestly.

I already had such problems on linux, and it was software incompatibilities that I fixed but just changing an option.
However, I don't see how to handle this under windows.

That's why I suggested you to boot up on a linux usb key to check if the screen goes well from scratch with another OS. It's worth it to do the test.

Okay i'm on Ubuntu and a driver installer came up saying No proprietary drivers are in use on this system. Then it has a circle at the bottom saying this driver is not activated, I try to activate it says,.Sorry the installation of this driver failed and tells me to look at a log.

I realize that this may be a dead subject, but I thought I would try anyways. I just got an l502x off fleabay a couple of weeks back and I am pretty stoked, being it has the 540m 2gb and a bunch of goodies. But, like many of you, I was pretty bummed out by the crappy 720p display. I mean, for an xps you would think that the viewing angles would be better. Anyways, I want to do the upgrade but I am having a hard time finding a reliable seller with a no dead pixel policy in the US. Are the B156HW01 V.4 extinct, or do I have to gamble with a hong kong or china seller in hopes that they will send the correct one? Any input would be helpful, and this was a great read. Kudos for all the people who put in the work for this thread.
