Just wanted to report back. I got the panel in about 2 days. Everything was packaged well and the screen swap went perfectly. The panel is genuine, and beautiful with no defects that I've detected. Mandy was great to work with. There was a bit of a payment snafu but she completely took care of it.

If you are going to buy a screen from her, I would make sure you are clear with her the total amount, including what she expects her bank fee to be (she expects you to cover that). All in she asked for about $139 from me (129 for the screen and shipping and 10 to cover their bank fee).

Also note that they require payment with a wire transfer, despite the fact that they have a paypal account (which i used to pay them a bit more when I was short a few bucks initially). I would ask her if you can just use paypal (and maybe wait a few days for the $$ to clear) and save the transaction fees.

I have an extra fullHD cable if anyone needs one as well as a not so fullHD cable and screen. PM me if interested.

Reporting my founds...so i had some options and due to the Dollar currency conversion (you know obamas new crisis) i had to drop all of them, the best option right know is this:

1.-pay the display with Twscreen and buy the cable with Lee (kuzotronics)
    2.-buy the kit from kuzotronic

    or

3.-be extremely hard with dells call center, crush them like flies, cuz as far as i know the sales department can give you a discount superior to the 20%, you have to be persistent, i managed to get the full kit(cable and display) without instalation for $225 instead of paying the $364 Dollars

so if you compare the best deal $90 display and shipping $50 plus the cable $30 = $180 vs. $225 vs. $365 its a really good deal, you can get a better price from dell but not much i was on the limit, and remember no matter what they say...you have to force them to ask you this....How much are you willing to pay for the display?

answer a decent low price and its yours....but you have to be patient and talk with alot of agents, some of them will help, others dont, it depends on the commission that they get, if you find someone smart, that person will try to make a fast business giving you the best price, just to make more sales.

so im waiting for everything...but do you know what kind of screwdrivers i need to open the machine?

ok i installed the display and my results are this:

    1.-i have a Genuine B156HW01 V7 (Glossy)
2.-Beware that some Torxs are really ing tight so be prepared to use an electric screw drver
3.-you need a thin flexible plastic thing to remove the holders clip types from the palm rest and the plastic edge from the display...this 2 parts are really fragile
4.-use the manuals but there is a torx under the base(on the left) that needs to be removed before taking of that left side of the display in order to remove the video cable
5.-there is no need to remove the ante cables on the base or inthe right side of the machine and display
6-There is big difference on quality with the 720p
7.-the 1080p display its good but not perfect and the color even calibrated tends to be a little warmy
8.-The 2 calibrated profiles given on this thread are not so good, cuz there is a difference calibrating tvs and displays and managing SRGB profiles, so....the result are oversatured and needs to be adjusted with your own EYES...thats how i made it...but remember the 1080P display its OVERHYPED....yes its good yes its alot better but it wont look like the best of the LCD or Plasma TV's out there...just a little warm
about...that there is a thread on the forum....its for a dellxps16 1080p display and they explain this difference...sorry i cant remember the link

NOTE: The Genuine FHD Cable Has The SAME STICKERS AND NUMBERS...JUST LIKE THE PICTURE FROM THE 1rst POST.

Hopefully this can help a lot of people

Edit: also i asked for a Dealer or suplier to help me with the tight torxs and the guys from there, supported my request to not be charged for a technician, and they were very helpful loosing the torxs and puting the cable "WITHOUT ANY COST"...please search for any dealer o supplier...maybe one will help for free

I am considering getting the 1080P screen for my L502X. From what I gather the system is the same other than keyboard and sandy bridge. I don't want to attempt to fit it myself. So I live in the UK, what is the cheapest way to get the screen and have it fitted by a Dell technician?

Yup, I know I can get one from there. However I want Dell to fit it as I don't have the time nor patience and am willing to pay the money. Plus I do not want to void the warranty.

i undestand...well you can pay a little less for the swap, try to found some dell partners , they will charge you in theory...like 60% of the real cost and even if you open your machine to the core..you only loose the warranty if you damage something...lets say the display, then dell will keep your warrranty on for any component except the display.

I picked up an "AU B156HW01 V.4" off ebay for 130. and a V73D3 cable from a local guy, completed the swap. when I power up everything is looking good, when in safe mode all looks good. When I log in normal the screen is expanded out, washed out and red/pink ish. I am not sure but the cable looks like it does not have enough wires in it, it appears to be the same number as orginal. From page one there should be either a link or image of what the problem looks like when you have the wrong cable, but i cant find it. I am very familar with PC and laptop repair. I put old screen and cable back everything back to normal. Any ideas??

So, your cable looks like this, right? Correct, the non-FHD cable does not have the additional data channel lines in the cable.

Yes my cable looks just like that, but feeling this cable and my old one they feel the same. I wish I had a unit to test on because I have two unknowns. Do you or anyone else know where the images went that show the original problem with the wrong cable.

If I have a dell technician do the swap on my L502x, should I be clear to Dell Customer Service that a different FullHD ribbon is required for the 1080p or do you think they are already aware of that?

Looks OK, but there is no way to tell functional viability unless you trace out each line with an ohm meter... or just get another known good cable and try that.

Dell will only allow the tech to do same-for-same part repairs and/or swaps. With that said, the Dell LCD service kits include the panel, cable, and new hinges if needed. Therefore, yes, the cable would be included.

    For the L501x, unfortunately no...
I would look for the data sheets on the display panel you are trying to connect to and then the Intel embedded GPU diagrams found in the CPU data sheets. If I get the time, I will look around.

Ordered the B156HW01 v4 for my L502x from kuzotronic eleven days ago, and i can't wait until it gets here.

I was wondering though, kuzotronic doesn't seem to be selling the V73D3 cable that i'm going to be needing anymore, would it be fine to buy from a trusted seller on ebay.co.uk? That seems like the best option at this point.

I have Purchased the dell XPS 15 l502x one month back. It has 720p (1366x768) resolution. I want to change or upgrade the display with 1920x1080 B+RG LED resolution through DELL INDIA. I have asked the dell rep. but he was uncleared about this thing. Can it be possible to upgrade the Display.......???

Yes, LG and AUO make good panels that will fit. I believe the panel uses the standard 30-pin LVDS connector. You will need the FHD V73D3 cable, however, as the standard cable does not have all the needed data channel lines.

Strange problem here. I have a L501x with the 1080p display and the LCD broke. I just received the AUO B156HW01 v4 and plugged it in. The screen shows ok when the computer boots up but as soon as the login prompt shows (1080p resolution), I get a strange wavy green display. If I go to safe mode, the display works just fine.

Checked and I indeed have the cable thats mentioned in the first post. I tried updating the driver and it picked up the display as Thinkpad Display.

So essentially all places that use the VGA driver work fine but as soon as the 1080p comes into play, things get messy. Any clues as to what I might be doing wrong? Bad cable seating or something?

EDIT: Sorry for jumping the gun! Deleted the nvidia driver and forced it to install a fresh version and we have a glorious 1080p matte screen. I definitely like this one over the v7 that it replaced.

Installed the screen yesterday, got both the screen and cable from kuzotronic.

Had no problems getting it to work, and it is beautiful. Thought the color balance was a bit on the red side, so i turned the reds down some, and now it's perfect.

Requiem...glad you are pleased with the panel. It really is worth every penny. I have had absolutely no complaints about the V4 and I have sold over 50.

    Hi, monitor lovers,
I want to help maybe a little and to get small help...
I have HP 8540p elitebook, but wit AUO B156HW01 screen...
Until yesterday I had V4 and now V7...
V7 is BETTER FOR A MILE!!!
Brightness is phenomenal- this first screen not needs 100% brightness.
Colors are a little better- not so red as V4 (many people say that, it is true)...
V4 needs calibrate definitely, V7 just maybe to be perfect...
Maybe also a little sharper picture, V4 is also good in this...
    Angles MUCH better...
    V7 highly recommended!!!
I think I have helped those who wonder which one to order...

I need a little help- I need driver for it because I can not reduce brightness...
It can be also HP qButtons issue, NVidia driver is not problem- I have changed it already
    THANKS

kudos on asking them before buying, if you notice at the bottom (unless they changed it) they say they sell only original B156HW01 v4 screens. This is a flat out lie, they sell replacements. I purchased first, but refused shipment due to a comment on the forums. Shipping wasn't refunded...

I chat with a few contacts I have at Dell USA via their live chat system. I did just talk with my XPS guy and he will reserve a few cables for me, but they have no stock right now available for spare parts. As soon as they get a batch available, I will see if I can get a total of 5 pcs and then I can mail one to you in the UK at my cost.

So, for now, just continue to be patient.
