Dell XPS L702X Order Progress - U.S.

I just got my tracking number and I am in complete and utter disbelief. Despite having been upgraded to "Next Business Day" delivery, Dell shipped my package FedEx Ground and it's not scheduled to arrive until Saturday.

But that's not all. At the same time they updated the tracking information, my shipping address changed. They took the city and zip code from my billing address and swapped it into my shipping address, but they did not change the street number or name. So not only is the package headed to the wrong town, but the delivery address is invalid.

At first I thought I was going crazy, and that I had messed up when entering the addresses when I placed my order. So I went back and found my original order confirmation, and THE ADDRESS IS CORRECT IN THE CONFIRMATION EMAIL! This can only mean that someone at Dell altered the address when they shipped it to make it incorrect.

I don't even know what to do at this point. My best guess is that FedEx will try to deliver the package Saturday only to discover the address doesn't exist, and there's not a damn thing I can do about it. Hopefully they're able to figure it out and I get the laptop early next week.

 

You can try to call Fedex and ask them to hold the package. From there you can go pick it up instead, but that may not be till next week.

Fedex usually tries to correct the address on its own, but still it may take longer to get to you.

I couldn't agree more. I've never experienced anything like this. You make two calls within an hour of each other and get conflicting answers.....One minute it's the video card, the next it's the keyboard.

 

Mine arrived last night but I didn't get to open it up, our home internet is down and we have been having sever weather/flooding in the area.

 

That stinks man, hope all is well...

mine is still in the same stage as yours, been that way for 4 days, I wonder when it will move to shipped; however, i was able to find my tracking number. finally, i wonder if our is shipping from the same place? maybe we got the slow facility.

 

for guys whose laptops have moved to shipped or have already received it: do you get an email immediately when it moves to shipped or did you find out by checking the status online?

basically just trying to find out if i am being stupid checking the status online all the time when they claim they send an email when it moves to shipped. i am sure you guys can understand my OCD on this, but just trying to figure out if checking the online status when my email box is empty is 100% a waste of time

 

I got email on 4/25 early in the morning that my laptop was shipped. I also got called on 4/25 and 4/26 from Dell Order support.

 

It has shipped!!!

 

My shipped email was sent at 4AM, I know the website was still showing in progress last night.

I have been following this thread for a few weeks now...my turn to tell my story (and you wouldn't be reading this thread if you weren't interested)

My current Dell journey began on a dark stormy night...Feb 23
i7-2720QM, 1080p 3d 16gb of RAM...

On March 1st, Dell's computer cancelled my order. I never got a straight answer as to why but it seemed related to the 3D glasses which were suddenly included in the base price. I couldn't order the glasses without cancelling the entire order and reordering. They had also withdrawn the Optimus feature which showed on my original receipt (suddenly not available on the 3d)

When I got home I discovered that the order had not been re-ordered exactly (missing back-lit keyboard) so I had to call, cancel, and reorder on March 2nd

03/31 I get a call from Dell, the 16gb of RAM is no longer available. In a lengthy discussion I downgraded to the 900p (the non 3d 1080p would come available two days later) I wanted Optimus. EDD 04/25

04/19 I get caught in the shortage of the 640HDD and used the chance to go back to 1080p non 3D, 8mb of RAM. 2x500HDD My new date is May 5

Here is the good news, I woke up to an email this morning that my unit had shipped. (there was a delay from Dell saying 'shipped' to Fedex showing it in their system ) Fedex picked it up from Dell this afternoon in California and it will be delivered to me in AZ tomorrow. A week early!

But in reality, you could say I have been waiting 2 mos but I am a patient person.

Received my shipped email last night.

But it wasn't shipped NEXT DAY like they promised. Why can't they do ANYTHING right?!

 

Mine is finally shipping as well. Ordered on March 4 should be here in Central FL Tomorrow April 29th. It is shipping form ELLENWOOD, GA. Did not know Dell had a facility in Georgia.

Considering I canceled my first ordered (non 3d, 2 SODIMM Slots) that was a few days before this one, I also have waited about two months.

ordered 3/20/11... recieved shipping e-mail notice last night... checked tracking number this morning... will be delivered to my house today!!! can't wait!!
find it kind of funny that fed ex picked up in city of industry.... 30 minutes from my house!!! oh well.. the long wait is finally over!

 

I just ordered last evening (April 27 2011) and already "In Production" which means they confirmed the funds ; )

I will not bug them as I am also patient and understanding of the custom build process.

If they screw up and jerk me around they'll lose a sale and a customer quickly ; )

seriously? i even got a call asking to confirm my previous address so they could process my order.......i was like miss, that's not relevant to my order since i did not put my previous address on my order. she said sir i can not process your order till you confirm your previous address.......i said B@$&H im not giving you my previous address.........cause i have not lived there in over 12 years!!!! now let me speak to your supervisor IMMEDIATELY!! she said thank you sir i have gone ahead and processed your order......we will email you with a shipping confirmation date. and hung up.

Have any more delays been reported as far as parts go? Hoping my EDD of May 9th still holds true...

 

Well, the EDD on my 4/11/2011 order was originally 4/28/2011... then it was bumped to 5/4/2011... until this past weekend when I received an email from Dell saying I was bumped yet again. The new EDD has been set to 5/20/11.

Oh well, I am in the middle of pimping out my new Vostro 3500 right now (which I am starting to really like ) so I do not need to stress out over this, but I am seriously thinking about cancelling the L702x since this new non-3D system was going to be more for testing than anything else. I am also not a big fan of matte screens for most of my work so it is what it is. I figure I have time to think about it more since there doesn't seem to be a rush on either side at this time.

Good for you, but I'm stuck waiting.
