    Hi,

I have this old xps m1210. Couple of weeks back my son dropped it on the floor and the LCD screen was gone.

I ordered a new LCD screen and replaced it.

Now, when I am trying to boot the machine. The screen remains completely Black until it reaches the login screen. First image that comes on the screen is the login screen. After that laptop behaves normally

    1. Any ideas why I am not seeing the Dell or Windows logo?

    2. I am not able to go into( or see on screen) the BIOS settings or boot menu?

    3. How should I go into Safe mode and all.

I tried all options at starup, like pressing F2/12. Nothing seems to go into the BIOS settings or show anything on the screen.

I need to wait for the login screen to come up and then go from there.

I have tried de-assembling the laptop to the motherboard level and assemble it again.
Also, disconnected the CMOS battery for more than an hour and replaced back; but no improvements.

About my screen: Only difference between my original and replaced screen is that the new one is Matte with a newer version. Resolution and size are exactly same.

    Original : AUO V.1, Glossy
    Replaced: AUO V.9, Matte

Is there anything we can do to see the BIOS settings?

    Thanks
    Muks

Does it work consistently on an external display? Do you have the Nvidia 7400?

It is working fine both on native and external display, but in the same manner. There is no problem after the login screen is shown on any of the displays.

Yes, laptop does have Nvidia 7400.

    Thanks
