    It's $100 and judging by the 425m vs 435m performance it's only like a 10% performance difference.

It's not a dollar extra if you start out with the $1299 configuration. It comes standard. Even if it wasn't included, I would still pay extra for it. There are a few parts in laptops that you skimp out on, and some you don't. This is one of those parts that you don't, unless you're broke.

My order status just changed from "In Production" to "Delivery Preparation" today (ordered on 3/8).

Not sure exactly what that means, but it sounds closer :)

Congrats to the people that have received their systems, but I am starting to get worried about mine, I ordered my system on the 2/22/11 and the status is still "In Production". Is there anyone else on here who ordered a system on 2/22/11 that hasn't shipped?

Listen to me, and listen well. I ordered mine around 9 am on 2/22/2011, so I know I was one of the first few to order this in the USA. After hearing some other members on here say they had ordered after me, and was getting their's shipped to them already, I decided to call dell today. I gave the order support lady a hard time about why mine was still "in production" and all that. She said she would follow up in a couple of days to make sure everything was ok with my order. But, about 2 hours after my phone call with her, guess what? My order has shipped! I have overnight shipping too, so I'll be getting it tomorrow. Moral of the story: Call dell and get pissy, they send you your laptop quicker!

Good to know I am thinking about doing the same now. Just wondering, did they upgrade your shipping to overnight service, or did you buy that from before?

Are there any new owners out there with a 2720 or 2820 processor, and, if so, can you check the BIOS to see if it supports XMP, so we can upgrade to the Kingston HyperX 1600MHz RAM?

Yes. I don't know exactly what the new BIOS looks like, but it will probably be under Memory Configuration, or something like that. You may have to enable something beyond "Default" for it to show up.

I ordered late in the day on Feb 22 (first day of availability.) Late today my status went from "In Production" to "Shipped."

I went with 3-5 day shipping and FedEx ground tracking is showing an estimated delivery date of March 12...shipped from Ellenwood, GA.

My question....does FedEx Ground really deliver on Saturday even if Saturday delivery was not added to the service?

I know I should not get my hopes up, but receiving it Saturday instead of Monday would be soooooo nice.

Judging by Extreme Memory, it doesn't look like any of the available XMP memory is certified for use with mobile Sandy Bridge processors. In any case, Dell BIOSes usually are totally locked down, unless maybe they were marketed as overclock-able.

The new Alienware systems allow one to select XMP profiles, and they use the same processors as the new XPS line.

Only the Alienware desktops have those options, not the laptops. Unless you're seeing something completely different.
