I'm sorry, can you please walk me through the steps on how to get the 200 off? The banner you posted doesn't really say anything about a deal and when I tried to configure through epp normally, it was the same 2% discount.
Also, the 70 dollar coupon I linked no longer works, or atleast not for me.

Does any owner of a Full HD B+RGLED L502X know which is the part number of his/her LCD ?
-
It's the same as L501X....
318-0490 Elemental Silver Aluminum (WLAN) L502X
320-1673 15.6FHD TLF B+RGLED LCD L501X
320-2118 NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M 1GB US (L502X)
330-6222 Windows 7 OS Label,CNB
331-1668 Backlit Internal Keyboard - Eng (L502X) -
Thanks, but I'd like too see if someone can go a little deeper and see if the manufacturer's (AU Optronics) part number is exactly B156HW01 V7. Maybe Dell have changed their screens supplier and no one has noticed.
-
So I got my L501X in December. Would dell let me return the one I have now and get the L502X and just pay the difference? Or is that hoping for too much.
-
That's hoping for way too much.
-
Yeah. That's what I assumed. Oh well. Guess I'll just stick with the L501X then.
-
Guys the $70 coupon does work, just paste this 932N$0ZCCHWZB9 into the coupon area and hit apply, it works, I just did it to mine!!!
-
I guess it doesn't stack with epp then
-
how about a $100 coupon that also works with EPP. 6B5L8RX93SG1FT
-
Well the L502X is now out in the UK....no backlit keyboard option and no Blu-Ray Writer option (not even Blu-Ray reader) :-(
What's up with them!?! -
The guy I spoke to said that the backlit keyboard might be available in the UK at some point, but they're not sure.
The 9-cell battery is the only option over here, too. He said that the processor is too power hungry for the 6 cell (!). You can buy the 6 separately though.
Ordered mine. Can't wait any longer! -
I want to order one and could live without the backlit keyboard if it came to it. I'd still need a blu-ray writer though....can anyone recommend an after market make/model that i could swap the internal drive out for?
-
Great, thanks. Is this the coupon with the largest discount out there?
-
I didn't ask this time but when I almost got the S-XPS 16 and wanted a bw writer that wasn't listed they could install one if I ordered by phone. They seem to have options that are available but not on the website. It'd be worth asking via the chat thing. The writers were expensive though!
-
For UK people, Quidco have a £70 voucher that works on the SB XPS15. Lasts until the 9th, IIRC.
-
good shout!
-
Technically the 540m should be able to overclock to 550m speeds correct? or do you think there is different voltages.
-
Am going to order very soon:
Dell XPS 15 L502X | Intel Core i7-2630M | 6GB 1333MHz RAM | GeForce Nvidia GT 540M | 15.6" FHD 1920x1080 B+RGLED display | 500GB 7200RPM storage | Windows 7 Home Premium | Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 | Backlit chiclet keyboard | 9 cell battery | 8x Tray Load DVD Burner | Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230
What should I expect of my battery life, and will my laptop have overheating issues? Would I still need a laptop cooler with that elevation from the 9-cell? -
Just ordered:

15,6" FHD 1920x1080

-

Dell XPS 15 Laptop Details | Dell
I also heard I wont get my order till either the end of march or first week of april but i dont mind the wait. -
Ok cheers, just need to wait for it to show up in my EPP discount.
-
i was just told my order would ship in 5-7 days. Order was just placed yesterday.
-
Thanks for the possible great news. Do you know what your order status for estimated delivery date on Dell's site? I ordered on 2/24 and estimated delivery date is 3/21.
Hopefully you're right that it could be 1-2 weeks earlier. -
If you don't mind divulging, how much are you paying for this system?
Anyone get the feeling we are being totally shafted over the new release here in the UK. There are so few configuration options and nearly a month to produce, and to top it all, a direct GBP to dollars price.
I think I am going to wait a little while to see if there is any improvement in the pricing / options. Is it worth calling them and seeing if they can provide any other options? I don't get how you can get a backlit keyboard in Germany but not here in the Uk. -
Those are strong words to those of us who ordered on 2/22 and have no idea when they will actually ship. I hope you're right and we all get them early. My L501x arrived over a week earlier than expected, so it's possible.
Either way I have to wait 'till the middle of march before I get to really use it anyways. I'm waiting on Crucial to release their new M4 SSD to put in it, and there's no reason to add stuff in the next week when a fresh install is just another week away. -
Canceled my order and redid it using the $100 off coupon. Now I am getting a new all-in-one printer for free and I save an extra $8!!! I needed one of those
-
What I find helpful is clone the OS partition after configured it to your liking on original HDD or any HDD. (Mine is 18GB out of 60GB SSD) so I can quickly transfer to any HDD/SSD in a few minutes. thanks
-
i was told by 2 people. Mine is a system replacement and is "Expedited" .well see since i do not even have the order details on my account yet but i have order # and customer #
-
Does anyone know if the L502 uses a Chiclet keyboard or not? Their's conflicting information on this and I'd like to know before I order.
-

Updated Dell XPS 15 and 17 Laptops Bring New Levels of Performance - Direct2Dell - Direct2Dell - Dell Community -
For most people, that would work out fine. I just happen to be one of those nit picky IT guys who wants everything to be exactly the way it should be, and the only way to do that is a fresh install. Besides, it takes about the same amount of time to remove all the bloatware "completely" as it does a fresh install, and I wouldn't take a ~$2500 laptop any other way.
-
I meant you can do the fresh install w/ the original hdd then clone it to the new SSD drive later without having to wait a week. This way, you always have reliable backup already fresh installed ready to go in a few minutes.
Thanks. -
Well it looks like I'm back to getting a Dell. Not that it's a bad thing at all. I had ordered the rig in my sig, but work is contributing half of my cost as long as it's a Dell, so that trumps my "wants" for the Sager8150-S1.
My new order will be:
XPS 15 L502x | i7 2820QM | 15.6 FHD B+RGLED w/Face Rec. | GT 540M 2GB | 640GB HDD ( Waiting for Vertex 3) | 8GB Ram | Blue-ray Burner | Centrino-N 6230 + BT | BL KB | SoundBlaster X-FI MB 1.2 | TV Tuner | Win 7 Ultimate | 2yr. Adv. Serv. plan | Tech Forward Plan
I'll be on the phone tomorrow. -
Unless things have changed, I have read it is never a good idea to use a cloned backup for an SSD, you should always start fresh. Issues with alignment and other things that can cause slow performance.
-
This is true if you do a "bit by bit" backup, which writes and rewrites the uncorrected (unerased) blocks back to the ssd. These unerased blocks are what slow down the drive, because it has to erase the data before it can write to that space. The alignment should be done during the formatting phase, before the data is written back to the ssd. Almost all name brand drives on the market now support trim, garbage collection, wear leveling, etc., which helps dramatically with maintaining the performance of the ssd over it's lifetime, decreasing the number of times you should need to secure erase the ssd to keep it running at peak performance.
-
Stupid question maybe... but anyone have any luck with coupons on the Dell Canada website?? Heard some talk about some on this forum but they seemed to be all for American customers. Thanks!
-
why you left 2720QM
its better than 2630QM
and also i suppose 9 cell battery -
Here is my current setup
i7-2720QM
8 GB ram
640 HD
geforce GT 540M 2gb
1080p
Bluray read DVD write
Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 & Bluetooth 3.0
backlit keyboard
6 cell battery
1 year basic plan warranty
total $1337 w/o tax -
Everyone doesn't need the 9-cell battery. It's a bulky 15.6 inch laptop that's not exactly meant to be carried around always. I will be using it on the desk 90% of the time.
-
Both XPS 15 & XPS 17 are not available on the UK site now
-
Talked to dell rep today, BR, backlit keyboard will be available soon online. Thru phone is available now. That is for dell Ireland.
-
Make that two of us wondering what's up with the UK pricing! When it looked like I could spec up a 1080p screen, an i7-2720 and a GT540M for about £700-800, I was delighted. Now they make the 2720 a £150 upgrade as opposed to $30 for the US, nor does the 1080p screen come as standard, and we're looking at ~£1200 for the same spec it costs $1300 for.
I'll obviously wait since I'm in no rush, but I hope this will change before long. Could always try my luck with the outlet in a few months time, I guess! -
Any Canadians having trouble choosing a blacklit keyboard option?? It won't let me change it from "standard english"
-
wow nice price what coupon did you use that can easily be 1500+.
-
UK sales are adamant that backlit keyboard is not available in the UK. I mentioned that it's available in Ireland - he rang back to say it's not available in Ireland either. Weird!
The UK version seems to have mobile broadband as standard (no SIM) and is 'GPS enabled' (the US version says 'GPS enabled via WWAN'). Not sure whether that's GPS as in satellite or based on cell tower location though. -
*holding out for BR writer and backlit keyboard options*
