Yes, C930C was just the whole kit. Checked the actual panel before the engineer put it in and it was a LG Phillips. :D :D

Checked in Hardware ID after he'd installed it and it's got LPLDF00 :D

It is a lot brighter with better viewing angle than the AU Optronics I had before and best of all it's not grainy :) :)

Make sure you post them photos! I think it will be the third set with both screens actually side by side.

Hey! Gfresh good to finally got your LG installed and the snap problem. This thread have gone to all types of screen resolution now. Also post an image of your hardware Id or screen to give everyone hope on this forum.

XPS M1530 all PROS, good luck to everyone getting the LG. Here's mine again

I got through Dell's thick head through e-mails caused I got tired of Dell's automatic responses in ordering the XK309 part.

my god it happened. i recieved an LG screen on my third laptop...

DW306 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., 15.4WSXGA+, TLF, LGP, V2

under the hardware id it says: LPL010F

its perfect. i can't believe dell, the sec3350 screen looks like TRASH. its not even as bright of a white, along with the rest of the colors. WOW....i am just soaking this in.

thanks for the advice all, and good luck to the rest.

my advice, i told them i was going to keep returning the laptop for replacements until my 20 days were up. but i think i just lucked out. another thing i noticed, there was more of that plastic film to peel off on this new one. maybe they gave me a refurb on my 2nd one.

I just returned mine today even though I finally was able to get an LG panel after all of the crap that I went through.

I just did not have any confidence in it anymore after the tech installed the panel. He shorted wires and the thing would not boot up. He took it apart and reassemble it 4 times. After I told him what to do, it finally booted and would not recognize the keyboard. I got the keyboard working, but the bulge in it was worse than originally. I just kept getting irritated as I used it, so I shipped it back today. I just did not have confidence that it would give good service over the next 3 years. The whole thing is aggravating, at best.

I am thinking on ordering either a Vostro 1500 or an M1530 with the 1440 resolution panel this time-it seems that you have a better chance to receive a good screen with the lower resolution. I am trying to decide between them.

    dell contracts out.

the techs i had were terrible. the first guy knew what he was doin but he was a jerk and scratched it up. the next tech guy, with a replacement!, could not figure out how to put it back together. there were these two clips on the sides he could not figure out, he had an extra screw, and he just didn't seem to have any mechanical skill at all lol...what a terrible and totally ridiculous situation dell has put me through bah.

I'd be interested in seeing what the viewing angles are like between the two, if that's possible, also with a black wallpaper to see how consistent the backlight is.

I have an order for the XK309, but it hasn't been updated with part number or shipping information for over a week. Everyone I talk to says that the order is still there, and it's for part XK309, but that they're currently not available and one will be sent as soon as it becomes available. I just don't know if I believe that, but the service order is still open.. has anyone else gotten this response?

    5:16:46 PM Agent Vinay_136266
I am afraid, the part is not available currently and that is the reason for the delay in the dispatch.

Dont even think of leting any tech (?) mess up with a brand new XPS.
I send the rep screen and the tech back to DELL and demanded a new laptop.
They'd rip the laptop apart in order to install a new screen.
    Take a look here http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/xpsm1530/en/SM/display.htm#wp1109848

I'll try though it's 01.30 am and I have a school to manage tomorrow :D

No sorry dude. That was my 3rd one, it was a replacement and I had to have the LG screen ordered entirely separate. I got my screen from a CS Supervisor. She was really great, but it definitely wasn't easy, it took a lot of tries.

I got it on the 22nd of February. So, they're still shipping em with Samsung screens. Sorry.

Go to your device manager (system settings), double click on monitor, it brings up that window, make sure you select Hardware Ids from the dropdown though.

Was anyone from the US able to successfully challenge the "out of stock with no ETA" story that every support rep seems to be telling now, and finally obtain the LCD, or is that story actually true? Thanks!

That is the story that I got last week and then they sent me an LG XK309. The interesting thing is that the panel was not listed on the service ticket--only the bezel and cable.

From reading the posts, it looks like they may be shipping a new version of the LG and the Samsung. We will see!

My order was changed to a "shipped" status tonight, so I am guessing I will get my M1530 on Monday. I just read another forum where one person got their M1530 yesterday with an LG, and another person who got theirs with a Samsung.

I guess it is just a roll of the dice... I will keep everyone informed. I will tell you this much, if I do end up getting the Samsung, I will give it a good shot and see if I truly dont like it enough to raise an issue with Dell. I will absolutely NOT let a tech go any where near my laptop, especially since I would be just receiving it. The thought of letting a tech open up my brand new laptop makes me want to puke in my soup.

If it is THAT bad, I may consider exchanging it for another. I would hate to wait another 1-2 weeks though just to find out that I got another Samsung.

Anyway, wish me luck all... Oh and btw, other than the screen issue, it is a pretty bad ass laptop is it not?

Read quite a few posts in here...now here a little story of my scenario.

Just bought my XPS M1530 last week, when it arrived I quickly checked my monitor id couldn't find it in my computer property, so I go to Dell support site for my system info and found out my screen ID as follow:

    " P/N: RP636 LCD.15.4WXGA,VESA,TLF,SMSNG" it is the 1280x800 resolution screen.

So I called them up and ask for 1440x900 LG screen, which I quoted "P/N: XP059" and replied that they can arrange a replacement.

    2 days later they came with AU Optromics AUO2077 - P/N: GU429 (1440x900)

My original screen show a slight 'grainy' look but not that much as my tech. say he couldn't find it "grainy"...took him few mins argued with me that he couldn't see it...then......ooo yeah I seee it
So I let the tech. replace anyway since at least I get 1440x resolution from my old 1280x800 lol :D . When he done I checked the "grainy" part and is indeed worst when I set to 1280x800 resolution than my previous one, but when i put to 1440 it seem a little improvement. So now I'm calling them up again and ask to ONLY send me the LG screen else they just wasting their time and effort and I got the reply that they don't have it here in Australia atm but they will call up their service in Singapore to send me that LG screen, and i should get a call within a week.

Now I only hoping to get this done and over with. Bit of pain but it should be worth it when my LG screen arrive :D

I ordered my XPS M1530 on the 14th Feb, and received it on the 22nd. It got it through Dell Outlet, and paid 650 inc vat and delivery.

    I think i was quite lucky because I got a decent spec, 2.2ghz, 200gb 7200rpm drive ( was looking for a 7200 drive specifically ), 1680 x 1050 screen, 1gb ram ( got 4gb waiting to go in ), bluetooth, wi-fi, DVD R/W etc etc.

Anyways, with the Samsung 1680 x 1050, I think Dell call it the WSVGA+ screen, its okay. The viewing angles arent great, and it is a bit grainy, but perfectly usable. Maybe I got one of the better panels ??

The problem is that after reading other forums extensively, I have got the urge to see what an LG panel is like, as everyone is saying that it is much better.

I phoned Dell CS on monday, and got them to get a technician out to to replace the panel. I specifically requested that i have an LG , I even phoned the day after to check, and was told that I an LG part had been ordered.

However, the chap arrived yesterda, we opened the box, and guess what - it was another Samsung . I told him that I was not prepared to let him open up my laptop, just to try out another Samsung panel, and I sent him packing.

I will have another crack with Dell CS in ireland today, and try and get an LG ordered . . . but who knows . . . . .

Ok, just got off the phone to Dell tech support in india.

I have told him that I want an LG screen (1680 x 1050) specifically - nothing else will do.

Apparently he has emailed the tech support group in the UK ( I am in the UK ) , and they will contact me . . . .

Just for my information, what part numbers correspond to the LG 1680 x 1050 screen ? I think i read about XK 309, but what others exist for LG 1680x1050's , so that I can tell the tech people exactly what to order ?

Well I took the advice of those on this board and I have to say I am surprised at Dell's willingness to keep a customer happy. First rep I talked to said I would have to return my laptop and buy another. Sent me to returns and that rep was more than willing to help me out. Set up an appointment for a tech to come out and replace my Samsung with a LG!!
    Pays to ask!

XK309 is what you want. The key from what I did was say the samsung is the wrong screen. Get the tech to place the order for the specific part for you. As long as the tech is nice there should be no problem getting it this way

Bugger, missed a call at lunch while I was out having my haircut.
Really hoping to get a nice LG screen. So glad I've got my tech sheet which said I originally had an LG screen so I can hammer them for a "like for like" replacement.

The AUOptromics screen isn't too bad. Not the brightest, not the clearest, not the best viewing angles and backlight bleed along the bottom... but once I'm away and using, I seem to be fine and barely notice.

Thing is, I've seen the LG in action and want the best!

I ordered my m1530 on Feb 19, it shipped on Feb 22 and I received it last night. Was supposed to be here on March 4 so they sure rushed that one out.

Of course I got the Samsung display, I knew that from the service tag. :( So I looked at it and sure enough the whites have a sparkly, grainy look that's borderline silver.

Called the XPS support and the tech did not want to order the LG replacement. So asked for his supervisor. The supervisor said the xk309 was out of stock, I asked him to order one anyway since I was willing to wait for stocks. He agreed to place an order for the LG.

Now I wait, I have the onsite warranty so they will send someone over to replace this. Can't wait for the call from the tech to confirm the part number.

Anyone knows how long before a service ticket is viewable on the Dell site?

    Thanks

Usually the service order is available to view online as soon as it's placed. Since the LG is supposedly out of stock, the service order might not show up until it's available. Good luck getting it and post a update here!

Just got an email back from the Dell Support Supervisor.

He says the part ordered was the xk309 but that was subbed to a MP730 which is LCD Service Kit, 15.4WSXGA+,Turelife, VESA, Vostro (include LCD, cable & 2 screw cover mylars). No manufacturer mentionned.

    We'll see.

Why dont you ask for a full replacement? I just moaned about the screen and they instantly send me an LG. The tech guy came the same day, he was completely dum, so I called them back and offered to replace the XPS immediately. Tech support in Greece were well aware of the samsung problem. So now I've got two XPSs. :D

Anyhow I think DELL - at least in Europe- has stopped sending laptops with either Samsung LCDs.

My most recent contact with Dell on this issue advised me that the XK309 p/n is most definitely available, but this person was unable to order it. She gave me steps on how to get it ordered however....probably my last hope.

    Will keep advised.

well well well, wednesday the tech came with the screen the tech chat support assured me would be lg and not subbed but when he opened the box guess what Samsung screen, the tech looked at his order and it said it was to be an lg that he had so he called up dell while I was there with him and they told him that there was no lg screen for the wsxga lcd. So I didn't have him install the new screen as it was another samsung and he was cool with that saying he got paid either way, and said I should call dell and try to find out what was going on. Here is what it said on my first replacement screen on dell's site that they were sending Y274C SERVICE KIT..., LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., 15.4WSXGA+, VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC...., TLF and turned out to be samsung. So I called dell got transfered back and forth ended up at inspiron support once but finally got someone in the warranty dept. that said he could order the lg and make a note not to subb it with any other lcd, lol I had been told that before I thought. Well dells site updated my service call today and here is the order that shipped airborne today XK309 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., 15.4WSXGA+, VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC...., TLF, LGP Crossing my fingers again that they have finally gotten it right.

How did you get your service tag number? Any way I can get that before actually receiving the laptop?

If it is shipped you can logon to dell and go to my account and click on my systems and peripherals and then in the next window click add new systems and it should tell you what you need to know. If you see MONITOR\SEC3350 you got yourself the samsung.

I already tried this and it is not working... I created an account a few weeks back where I ordered my first M1530. I cancelled that order because I decided to up the CPU speed and order the wireless N card instead of the wireless A/G. In addition, I learned I could get a discount through my employer so I got that applied as well.

By doing this, I was given a new customer number, order number and purchase ID. Now when I login with my account I initially created, and lookup 'my systems and peripherals', my most recent order is not listed... just the order I cancelled. When I go to add an order number to my account, I receive the following error once I enter the customer number and order # I received after my latest order with the new specs and discount:

"Only Home & Home Office, Small Business, Dell Refurbished and Dell Outlet customer numbers can be added using this feature. This customer number has not been added to your account."

Grrrr.... It is killing me not knowing which one I am going to get.

Same thing happened to me. I wasn't able to check out which screen I had until Dell emailed me with my service tag number, then I was able to look at everything.
